I was re-reading harry potter, book 3 (I had read the whole series) And there are 2 things I found quite odd.
First, Harry Potter and Hogwarts are supposed to be in england, but measure in feet, yards, and inches.
Second, Harry's invisibility cloak is supposed to be 100% undetectable, absolutely nothing can see him inside it, no amount of magic or anything. But when Harry is in hogsmeade the first time under his cloak, Mad-eye moody sees him.

There are quite a few inaccuracies or things that don't make sense. However you gotta understand it would be hard to peice together such a huge story as that and leave no little gaps. I noticed a few when I read them (I haven't read the series for a while, read all the books at least 10 times each however when I was younger cos I was a nerd ) but can't remember them now.

1: Most adults in the UK still use imperial measurements for everyday things, and distances on road signs are still in miles - with no plans to change in the near future. It'll be another generation before the majority of the general public feel more comfortable with metric.
2: It's a kids' book. - Originally by: Tamia Clant in a Jenny Spitfire thread There was a flame here, but it ran out of oxygen.

I thought Mad Eye's eye gave him all sorts of super-eyesight powers.
The Imperial measurements thing, maybe that's a holdover - since the Magic folk seem to be stuck back in the late medieval period for much of their understanding of the outer world, maybe they never adopted the metric system when England did.

Ok. Imagine this, you are some old weathered man, in a children's school, with an eye that can see through walls and clothing.
Mad eye moody, lurking around a girls bathroom near you!

Well you don't exactly turn left at 90 west bound for New York and go to Scotland. I think that was his point. We have New England, and (regular) England has Scotland. Yaknow, geography n all

Exactly. It's just up the road. Somewhere near Maine, if memory serves.

Actually the thing that bothered me the most was in book 7. (to put this back on topic)
The Ministry Falls They Disaperate to that busy road and go in the diner. Use Voldemorts Name (its taboo) Death Eaters Show up.
Later at Grimuld place. They use Voldemorts Name... Nothing happens... even though the taboo should have brought down all magical enchantments. WTF!

After reading the entire series and committing it to memory, I wondered the following things:
1. Why wasn't Madam Pumphrey killed? She totally deserved it.
2. After Harry found out Cho was given the Apologies potion to tell Pumphrey where the room of requirement was, why did Harry continue to ignore her? What an ass.
3. Has Harry ever done anything successfully by himself? He just goes from point A to point B through someone else's guidance.
4. When Snape killed Dumbledore, why didn't he curse Dr. Zoidberg with his last breath?
5. Since Dobby was freed by Harry, why didn't he start wearing Hawaiian shirts?
6. I'm surprised Harry didn't end up with Luna as they were both equally disturbed.
7. How could have Hagrid's parents possibly mated when you see how big his half-brother was? Something is clearly lost in translation. IF his father wasn't the giant, he could just walk into her! And I can barely envision the opposite!
8. Why didn't Ron, Hermione and Harry engage in a threesome? __________________________

Goosh goosh!
Actualy the Rita article said that it was indeed his mother.... And made a point in book 2 to say his father was a midget. Methinks the father was into beastiality and mistook Hagrids mother for an Elephant or small beached whale.
