Hey all.
First I'll list my computer specs. Core 2 Duo E6700 2.67Ghz, Geil PC6400 2GB, GeForce 8800GTS 640MB.
Now, I'm running two 20" Widescreen LCD and one eve client on each monitor in window mode with eve launcher. It's working "fine", but the client which is on the secondary monitor is lagging quite bad. There's slightly less lag if that's the eve window which is active, but then the eve client on the primary monitor is lagging.
I've tried turning the V-Sync on and off, I've tried with good and bad graphics, I've tried tinkering with the new cache feature, but it remains the same.
So, what I'm asking is, does anyone know how to remove the lag completely? Do I need one graphic card for each eve client?

Works with 2 graphics cards with 0 lag on either screen (20" on 8600GT and 46" on 9800gtx) I also have 4GB RAM, E8400 running at 3.6GHz and both client directories on a 4 drive RAID 0 array all of which may also speed things up. i never tried to run both clients off the same graphics card, though i believe it has something to do with DirectX only being able to update a single monitor per card (efficiently) because it's not multi-threaded for that kind of setup.

In your display configuration, will notice under the display adapter you will have 2 options of the same card.
On the second eve client, select the 2nd display adapter. And voila! No more lag on second monitor.

I don't know how the newer system archetectures work but unless you can get one GPU to funnel data through the output of another (assuming your cards each have dual output) plugging the second monitor into your second card and making sure that monitor's output is coming from said second card would likely solve the problem.
As things stand when you run multiple clients on multiple monitors from a single card (even if you have multiple video cards installed I would presume) you will get a significant FPS hit.
In my case just having multiple monitor outputs is enough to drop my client FPS by 40-50% even if I just have a desktop background displayed on the second monitor and when I do use one client per monitor the main one runs 8-10 fps (in combat) while the secondary runs 5-7 fps. ____________________

The only thing I can suggest is update you Video card Drivers. I know Nvidia's 8000 series cards just had a new driver release about a month ago. As for your problem I have never had an issue I run Two copies just as you are on two different monitors I have only 1 8800 GTS and I am gettin on average 70-100 Fps on each copy. the active window does get a better rate however as I switch that changes back and forth. Are you running Vista? XP? cause it looks like that might be the only thing you have different then my setup.

I had "Naturalpoint TrackIR Head" option enabled and it severly lowered my frame rate. I think it is under "General" tab on the left side. Uncheck that and see if helps. Otherwise, good luck finding more RAM, 2Gb is decent but more RAM always helps. Also for running high resolutions with EvE a nice beefy processor helps.
Dual 3.0Ghz 4Gb Ram 512Mb ATI x1900 (much older than your card) 2x 19" LCD's
40FPS or better on both

i know that it can help stablise two clients if you set each ones to run on a differnt cpu on duel cpu systems you can do this through the task manager. Live Fast Die Free! |
