Edited by: Attila on 25/05/2004 23:39:37 As my reference to the word "living" implies, I would like to know what the average PVPer (this group includes, but is not restricted to: Mercs, Pirates, Corporation Military, Assasins, Evil Doer's and Bounty Hunters) in EVE's weekly to monthly expenses are as far as Ship, Weapon/Module, Ammunition, Clones, Insurance and even those crazy enough to buy at todays prices: Implants replacement costs? And what is your source of income to replace such expenses? As my mate, Darth solo wrote, we in Celestial Apocalypse are always friggin broke, but we still love the combat, so we usually pull together to make insurance payments and such. I am sure most PVP players in EVE feel the same about it and even if their wallets were always at 100isk (to convo/eve-mail 1 non-buddy per week, lol) they would still pay all these costs somehow in order to keep PVPing. My costs are listed below as an example, but I am an exception to the rule for Celestial, as I have just gotten back in the Battleship saddle after frig piloting for some time.
Ship Replacement: ~2mil/week Ammo Costs: ~1mil/week Clone costs (I likey to hang around too much in dying friggy to see the battle): ~6mil per week Insurance: ~500k per week (heheh, yes I actually get the platinum for all my frigs) Module Costs: ~2mil/week
As you can see, those piddly 10mil Bounties on offer don't even cover a frig pilots expenses
And, to those that have made donations to Celestial for what ever reason: THANK YOU! We were finally able to pay the rent for our caravan we use as our HQ. So keep those donations coming, no matter how small.

Edited by: Zarquon Beeblebrox on 26/05/2004 09:10:25 I started Teddybears ca 2mnt and 20 days ago. I played ca 10 days in this corp before i got my first BS. When i bought my first BS i had the exact amount of 89mil isk.
Since then iv lost 2 ravens and 9 scorps All bought from market to market price. More then 30 crusers, and god knows how many frigs.
Iv been poded ca 10 times (when i had a p3 700Mhz comp)
There goes ca 100-500 cruis missiles each day.
My only income is the loot i get from pvp.
To day i have 45mil and 1 insured scorp, few mods/wep bpo's few rifters and crusers.
I refuse to mine, i dont have alts that make me isk. If i cant make enough isk supporting my piracy then i either suck or its not possible... and i will quit eve.

RKK gives me ammo, as long as I don't fire at allies/RKK members too much, for free.
I joined them with 1 million ISK and an uninsured Scorp. I now have about 100 million ISK (plus another 60ish millions that is owed to me).
But hey that's what happens when you join a good Merc Corp that charges fair prices to kill.

I started pirating about 8 months ago
I had then 1 thorax and more or less no isk
Ive lost about 9-10 bs..a few sets of implants
Now have a scorp and 70mil..no implants
btw..i lost 3 uninsured scorps in 1 week, the last one of the trio was lost to norad and the other two to npcs (DAMM YOU AUTOPILOT )
As a pirate in pureblind everything was fine till we joined rsa and stopped pirating thise freaks...before fade (bf) i always had 2 bs all nice naga mods and a full head of implants....I dunno whats happened these days.

Edited by: Tenacha Khan on 26/05/2004 00:57:41 the above is just me from start to finish as a pirate..at times ive had hundereds of millions...but with a 250mil setup on a mega..that goes pretty fast, i believe celest got my last mega.
to me, i dont care what isk i have, just once i have enough isk to play..if i cant make isk pirating to sustain myself id quit.
Imo, there should be skills for pvpers, as these skills get better we get more of the loot. I dunno what you got off my bs, but i reckon not many of the modal neutrons, xl c5-l, tech 2 dmg mods and looted power diags made it through....and it sux

Edited by: swisher on 26/05/2004 04:03:11 Well to be honest my cost of pvping isnt much at all...I hardly ever lose a bs..I might lose one every 2 or 3 months thats about it..ammo is cheap since I make my own and also make my own ships..all the mins from indies have to go to some good use :)
but it depends on each pirate..some dont have any backup plans they just go off whatever they have..but most have backup plans..alts..2nd accounts that they mine with etc..etc..

2 Weeks ago, 7m in a frig. 1 Week ago, 28m in a frig. Now, 40m still in a frig. When I finally get to sell my damn "Shock 'Limos' Siege Launcher" for 10m like naga price it, 50m in an inty.
That's about 7 frigs per week w/ platinum insurance ofcourse and some mod's which cost about 300k

as a pirate i dont find funding a problem. I use a frigate mostly to try to get my funds, if u pirate for long enough u normally get a lucky kill. my Crow costs about 650k to insure for 2mil back, cruise missiles can normally be picked up from other dead frigates. Me and my partner in crime Dell the other day got one of these "lucky" kills on a maller carrying 96k of noxium, which got us about 12 mil each. Not exactly a fortune but enough fund us for that pirating session atleast. But in a nut shell i got luck early on, lets just say a couple of indys dropped alot of moneys worth of minerals that has tied me over for the foreseeable future -----

Edited by: Lifewire on 26/05/2004 08:07:22 I started 10 months ago. All i had was an Ibis. I have 2 BS and 40 mil cash. I lost 2 BS in the past, 1 to Bladerunners, 1 to Norad. Looks like i made money - but to be true: would i have mined all this 10 months, i would have much more money, 100 x more! On the other hand i had the fun thousands of other players miss: pirating from first day.
I guess with Shiva things will change. Player owned structures will be a nice target for pirates and piratehunters/mercs. Pirates will try to destroy them or get money to let them in peace and mercs will get money to patrol and defend them.
@Celest: U guys will never catch a top player if you donŠt start to use 20+ sensor boosters/remote sensor boosters/warp scramblers/Webbers/MWDs. Flying arround tanked up wonŠt help you. But 1 question: why do you help crying carebears that are the reason for all these changes to pvp? Kill Šem, only a dead carebear is a good carebear! Best Carebears are those who leave the game crying and never come back. EVE is much too good to let it be simcitylised.

Well I have lost about 6 million a week now in Harvesters alone !!! and I am a miner, so being a miner is also expensive
Ofcourse loosing those Harvesters are mainly my own fault as I do "chat" and surf the net and occasionally check the game what happens and to drag ore over in container.

It depends what ship im flying really... If im in my raven then yeah it costs me a fortune each week on ammo costs. Fortunately I dont die often, i've lost 2 bships in the last year and have never been podded (yet)However pirating is a little hit and miss, you can shoot loads of people in one day and just get measly crappy loot(or have the loot *****s in your gang nick everything *Cough STAVROS *Cough), or you could just get that lucky hit another day from a single frigate or indy and land yourself tens of millions in rare loot/minerals. well, before i leave this game, i will try the pirate side for a wee bit, i think id be missing out if i didnt... as i would like to try all sides of EVE before my end.
I do like ppl asking me for help though, i like ppl being killed by rats, and convoing me for tactics and setups that will help them get their revenge .
in this game though, u do need isk.. i have lost only 2 BS this year, and only 4 altogether since i started... not bad for some1 that PVPs everynite:)... when i do lose one though, it hurts like hell, as im as poor as poor man.....

Uhh, don't mean to be cruel, but this a thread concerning PVPer's and their costs. I understand that miners lose assets as well, but their risk:gain is alot lower than the average PVPer.

Average cost? I wouldn't know where to start, but generally speaking I don't lose battleships so cost is not high. I think I've lost 3 scorpions in PvP since I started PvPing about 5 months ago (the first 2 were in the beginning). Generally the loot drops give me all the ammo and mods I need to continue to fight so the cost to me is nothing.
As Darth says though, I'm dead broke usually and losing a BS hurts bad but even losing a cruiser can sometimes not be replaced immediately. If we did typical 'pirating' like taking indies and gate camping nightly then I'm sure we'd be rich too, but we have found great deal of fun in empire wars which are mostly unprofitable. ------------------------------------------------

Well I dont lose many ships other than frigs but I get enough loot to build them, other than that I make pretty good money, and refine most of the loot I get I refine to build more ships, have an alt for mining and backup in PVP. Other than that dont lose much money, lose a bs's every couple months most recently lost a mega.

There are easy ways as a pirate to make tons of cash but those mostly involve gate camps and moving about en force. We typically don't have 15 battleships online at any given time, and find gate camps boring. We try to fight warring corps most often, which is why we're broke. ------------------------------------------------

i m interested to see where i end up in pvp. i m not a pirate so there will be no juicy mineral drops for me i m afraid. sofar i have lost a BB and a vigil in defence action and can proudly say that in 2 weeks i havent touched a mining laser :D cant say that i have made any money sofar but picked up a few corpses and *yay* 2 standard launchers, 2 havoc heavies and a wasp :P but who cares, i enjoy pvp and got a few isk to replace what i put on the line.
