The Vagabond will still be one of the fastest ships. The nano change won't necessitate major changes in Vagabond setups, most likely.

Judging from what's in the dev blog, it should still be able to (at the very least) go above 4 km/s with just tech 2 speed fittings. And that's all you need.

No, you will need 4 speed mods plus a full set of high grade snakes to break 4k in a max skilled vaga, post nerf. A typical polycarbed fit will go about 3300 m/s.
CCP Dionysus provided a couple examples in the thread.

You don't know all the exact numbers yet, so it's not possible for you to do that math yet. And going by the numbers they did give, that doesn't sound right at all. While the overdrives will be a lot weaker, the Vagabond's speed with just a tech 2 mwd is only slight reduced (probably just from the reduction in speed boost on the tech 2 mwd).
The Vagabond right now can go at 5.8 km/s with just tech 2 speed mods (provided you don't put anything else in the low slots). No rigs or implants. I don't see even the overdrive injector nerfing dropping it quite that far.

Umm, the Vagabond has 5 low slots. Sure, the damage boost from 3 gyrostabilizers is nice, but it isn't all that fast with just 2 low slots used for speed even now. Also, look at that setup and then read the rest of his posts on that subject. He doesn't sound like he's exactly the most clued in guy they have around.
I would wait for Monday.

Yeah, but given stacking anything more than 3 (or maybe 4) mods affecting speed is worthless.

Last I checked, "just t2 speed fittings" didn't imply a full snake set with omega. TBFH, I'll probably still shield tank my vagas if I CBA to fly one.

We'll see in singularity but looks like nothing will change for Vagabonds... They will be the fastest cruisers around means they can still run from enemy. They wont be in scramble range as it is also webifier range so no problem of loosing your MWD untimely...
Vaga pilots used to use their mwd in pulses. So if they dont make a great delay to reactivate module it shouldn't be problem.
Soo setup is same...
Maybe more ceptors will be around because other Nano Hacs and Recons will be really screwed but ceptors was always a problem... So nothing new there. Missiles were problem because u had to slow down to actually hit your target so same there also means nothing new.. Maybe u won't keep your point longer on missile boats but keeping point was not the vaga's main reason...
So I see a future like this...
Vagabonds roaming and killing stuff as always. Ppl with scrambler fitted in their ratting ships looking to vagabonds from 18km and thinking wtf!!1!
And less curse, ishtar, zealot zipping around means greater freedom to vagabonds...
And a new archenemy Arazu and Lachesis... But as I said to hit the arazu u should close your MWD anyway and be in 20km :P
Contrary to belief any crusier above 3k/sec is deadly to most ships solo...

Of course wait to Monday, but the numbers are given by CCP dev in that thread. While his setup isn't with a full set of speed mods, the addition of a nanofibre or two will only speed it up a bit. It's a pretty pathetic amount of speed and that's WITH HG snakes, heh. Now while I don't have the numbers on this, I'm betting only a small minority of players actually fly with a full set of snakes in their cranium. Am I the only one that finds it absolutely hilarious that they would balance ships around a T2 setup with nothing special fitted to it (EXCEPT HG snakes? ). Hell, it'd have been more reasonable imo to just use some damn faction nano gear, rather than HG snakes, haha, and even that wouldn't really be reasonable imo. Although perhaps they didn't want Vaga pilots to flip out and thought maybe we'd overlook the high grade snakes? Who knows, but it kind of blows my mind that they used that in their comparison.
But anyways, you're likely going to be at pretty sad speeds compared to what Vaga's can do now. We'll see though.

With a top speed of 3k or 3.xk/s, missiles are going to be smacking you up pretty hard I'd bet. It's also a lot easier to track. A scramb will shut it down big time. On that note, I'm curious to see how long of a delay on MWD reactivation a scrambler will cause. Basically, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see suicide tacklers though shutting down MWD's/webbing after the patch, heh.
We'll have to see. While I like the patch overall (I think), I can't say I really like what it's doing to my Matar ships. At least I can take comfort in the fact that after this patch, people can't say "But you have the vagabond, so it's right for your Battleships to suck!". And maybe we're due for a Matar buff patch. Who knows.

I don't know how u play with your vagabonds but mine was a solo killer. So for killing a drake I always slowed down and take full damage from missiles. Same for tracking... I, probably never speed tank against cruiser sized guns (BS tracking sucks) but always range tank...
But Vagabond was never a nano-ishtar or nano-sacrilidge...
Broken ships were other races "going too fast" cruisers while can permaMWD can slug out to targets (missiles/drones/neuts)
But yeah vaga hitted in nuts. Anyway I never believed in a 10k ship. But I hope vaga can keep +3000 in bursts and no other can achieve more than 1500-2000... Then it will be good for matar. I mean better from nerfing vaga to a snail.
P.S: Too late I have to sleep or have breakfast..

that "cookie cutter" setup was triple stacking the -mass and is a couple hundred faster with 3overdrives and that was without rogues or gang bonus, both are a reasonable fit for most people

Ship does a impressive 470dps+ easaly (500dps if you use 425 II's). What about falloff? Well with Barage Ammo, it does at scrambler range of 24km a total of 300 DPS insted of 470DPS. Closer you are the more it does towards 470DPS.
It has Afterburner so no enemy can shut down your MWD so you will always move closer to the enemy. Remember Vagabonds are damm good cruisers

If you armor tank a vagabond, or any minmatar t2 ship with any degree of seriousness, you are a ****ing idiot. I mean that in the nicest possible way.
It has TWO holes on its armor. Every other race has only one.
Not to mention, any tier two battlecruiser will annihilate it.

It has TWO holes on its armor. Every other race has only one.
Not to mention, any tier two battlecruiser will annihilate it.
Lol At the "TWO holes on its armour". You Triumvirate guys have not got a clue, have you?
EM Resist: 90% Therm: 67.5%
Vagabond needs no EM hardner or therm hardner as it has build in 2 EM hadners and 1 Thermal hardner already. Thats why I posted a setup with a EXP and KIN hardner. Duh.
Also its not meant to be a solo pwn mobile. Tier 2 BC's are meant to be better than HAC's, HACs are just cruisers after all. Any competantly fit Tier 2 BC beats ANY HAC. Thats the whole point.

High: 5 x 220, 1 x Heavy Missile Launcher II with Navy Ammo Mid: 10mn AB, web II, Scram II, Cap Booster II Low: 2 x Gyro II, Med Rep II, Exp hardner II, kin hardner II R: Nano Pump or aux or trimarks or whatever. D: 5 x Hobgoblin II
And the weapons use ZERO Cap, which is amazing.

Ishtar - 50 / 67.5 / 83.8 / 10 That's one hole. Vagabond - 90 / 67.5 / 25 / 10 That's two.
Its simple math really, and that appears to be a little above you.
What that means is that the ishtar can patch the hole with a SINGLE hardener and use 2 eanms to even out the resistances where as the vagabond has to use two full hardeners and any eanms use are boosting a resistance that starts at 90%. If you don't think that it has two resistance holes you are a ****ing moron. Duh.
Also, you should notice that the ishtar has 83.8 resistance to kinetic right off the bat. Because it gets 2 built in hardeners to kinetic. You know, a resistance that is actually low to begin with?
That second hardener for em on the vagabond is useless because the resistance is so high to begin with. You take your vagabond out with that setup and you will be immune to anyone slinging em but everyone else will eat you alive.
Why do I know this? Maybe it's because I'm in Triumvirate and we actually, you know, pvp in Triumvirate. Like all the time. DuH.
Lol You State War Academy guys have not got a clue, have you?

This is the dev recommended fit to get the vaga over 4k. good luck.
edit: this is too negative imo, i'm sorry. What i think the vaga could still do well is AB fit (lol, but keep listening) get a web and scram and orbit in the 60% speed reduce web and fit for buffer/gank. Instead of that extra speed mod or so, you could fit a PDU and fit 425's for some more firepower and a lil more gank. And you could try fitting shield extender rigs instead as well. And hell, if 2 LSE II's don't float ur boat, then drop one and throw in a tracking disruptor and i think that the results will be quite satisfying. Not to mention, you can use RF Emp or a high dps ammo instead of barrage.
Sounds like a shield deimos to me, but with omni resists, and mild regen

Cookie cutter vaga was tested.
Without snakes, 3300m/s. Massive agility nerf too.
RIP Vagabond.
Try fitting some I-stabs. Since polys and nanos don't remove mass anymore, you have no agility bonus as you had with polys and nanos as they are now. Most people don't realize that agility is actually the mass*agilitymod since polys and nanos actually gave a mass reduction bonus, you got a speed and agility bonus in one rig/mod. Now you get the same, but mounting I-Stabs will still be much more effective at improving your agility.

Incorrect. You have a EM and a EXP Hole with Ishtar as well as higher sig radius meaning more hits and more wrecking hits against you. And you refuse to comment on the Armour tanked 470dps vagabond (300dps at 24km).

My vaga fit goes 3.1k with 2 gyros. Speed rigs don't seem to add anything due to stacking so I think ambit extention rigs will be best.

Dude. Post with your main if you want credibility. Right now you have none. The last thing you will be worrying about when operating this close to another ship are wrecking hits. Leave the SWA, pvp a bit, then get back to us.

Lol I stuck in this EFT and it tanks 162 DPS. I can make an ishtar do 540 dps and tank 440. You have to nano this ship to make it useful.
You want a 1v1 Istar vs Vaga as game balance? You are aware that Ishtar is meant to beat the vaga's resist (just like Amarr beat Cerb's shield tank resists)
Its called rock paper scissors etc. Vaga can choose damagetype and kill Ishtars drones, thus killing off almost all of its DPS. In fact, Probebly all of its DPS since Vaga can do 300DPS at 24km due to falloff, and a ishtar might not be able to do anything back. But if Ishtar gets in blaster range then its a problem for the vaga.
Back to point, 3 nano vaga's would do over 1000 dps and 1000 dps would kill any ship pretty much and escape any retaliation without any brain power other than pressing MWD button. That was problem with nanovaga. Now with armour tank, people will use vaga to fight prperly and the game will become more fun again and tactics will start to play a part in eve once more.
