Close to my long painful struggle to get into a Manti Question is what Kinda ships are worth leaving cloak over?
Frigates and intys of course
What about a Cruiser or Force Recon? or even a HAC?

Assuming you're not using a bomb, you're missiles do at most 600 dmg so 1800 for a salvo.. you might be able to insta a destroyer, most frigs. Other than that you will need another salvo / player.
All the stuff above does not necessarily reflect my corp, my alliance or even me.. Drone guide.. |

ic... kinda disappointing but anyway
is there any tactics involved when flying a manti? or is it just kill or be killed? anyway to significantly boost the chance of a second salvo?

You can always fit a scrambler and try to sneak in close on the target. It works in my purifier, but it has a plate so it can live long enough under fire for the 2nd salvo.
Best advice really would be to get a buddy in another SB and wait for ratters.

Find a some stupid undocking station where ppl should really align for the gate... from horizantal to vertical or otherwise...
Find a rapier friend who will stop anything.. (at least for now)
Falcons are might be your next bet. They have 0 em resistance on their shields :P

You cannot instapop anything. Any frigate with a MWD will be moving faster than your missiles too, and you won't kill those either. A solo manticore is for mugging fools.
Get several of them, and the 'front loaded' nature of the damage is helpful - don't get caught up in 'first hit' kill, remember your effective damage output only decays towards the average of your DPS over a full weapon cycle - your first two volleys are effectively at double DPS.
But frankly, stealth bombers aren't really up to much as solo ships - great for not dying, but not much more than an irritant otherwise. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

This is How you use one, if with Near Perfect missile skills and missile velocity rigs X2 Your missles will be going near 8km, Outrunning all mwd'ers other than some intys your Damage will be 900-800 Per missile and very effective, You can even fire beyond 200km away but then you must know your target will not warp ( no target would believe those missiles will acully fly for that long tbh.

Edited by: Machiko Ruhn on 26/07/2008 13:16:26 This is how my purifier works:
T2 cruise launchers eat too much cpu to let me do the usual mwd/damp crap in the mids, so, I went for pure damage and range, my missiles hit for 870 EM a pop, so thats 2610 raw damage, from up to 147km away. this will **** frigates, destroyers, barges, and low end T1 cruisers pretty much instantly. Salvo time is ten seconds, so, a second volley is very easy to get, especially if you're at one of those bastard stations with the screwed up undocking cycle.
Get a buddy in something that tackles and you're golden. Hell get a couple more buddies in bombers and you're golden.
Biggest key though, fit for damage, always be aligned BEFORE you ever uncloak, and bring some friends for the party.

I was hearing that the Devs might make the Bombs cheaper, which will be great. How the flock do bombs work anyway?
Do you target a ship normally and do they track, or is it just a point and flight time thing? Yes, I am a total n00b with stealth bombers, just asking.

Bombs work by "line of sight"....Meaning, whatever way your ship is pointing that's where the bomb goes

So, past being a math major and calculating its flight time and speed and eventual range, I guess you have to buy a few of these things and practise, eh? Generally, what range does it turn out to be from your launch point to detonation?

From my time on the test server playing with bombs, the bomb flies roughly 17km from the front of the ship and explodes in the 15km radius.

You can kill an assault frig if the pilot has no clue. Ive taken down an eagle when i was in a crow and some militia buddy was in a manticore, but obviously that was a combination of luck on our side and stupidity on his.
You can kill a ceptor if it isnt moving in one volley. If he's flying around with the MWD on, just forget about it.
