Dude, if another inty gets you with a 9km scram he will web you in tranq now and a 90% webber is far harder to get away from then a 50-60% web and one last cycle of MWD. You still have a chance to get out of web/9km scram range in both models, I see no change here...you are whining. --

Edited by: Leon 026 on 27/07/2008 08:57:34 No, its not the end of inties - infact its the quite opposite. It'll be the Golden Age for interceptors. New tactics, a whole new set of different setups between tackling and dogfighting meaning there's going to be a hell of a lot more diversity.
Slower speeds and a closer speed range between high end and low end means that the uber interceptor aces can actually be killed this time, slower speeds will mean that dogfighting between inties will be all that more challenging since the margin of error at lower speeds is quite less compared to easy-moding your click-orbit at 14k/s. And of course you'll see the revival of 2-3 year old relics like the jaegerbomb and plate crows which will no doubt give veterans a warm fuzzy feeling to see those.
You'll have AB inties, and MWD inties, and you'll have tacklers to dogfighters with a huge diversity in setups, and inties like the Claw will shine again.
Yup, this is going to be a great age to fly interceptors.

I agree. By not forcing players to fit intys for pure speed (because any other way was simply less effective) we will see more experimentation and variation, not the bog standard speed fits of today.

If they actually want to come closer than 13km then...they are either going to melt you, or they don't know what they are doing. Sometimes...you really really don't want them to come close. a AB Blasteranis mmm...

Any idiot interceptor that is within 9km of its target deserves to die. Who cares about the mwd shutting off, you would figure they would worry more about the 13km web. Learn to fly before crying.

Edited by: BiggestT on 27/07/2008 15:03:30 I reckon we are gonna see many inties with 9 k scrams
think about it, whacks one o those on and a regular point. Uses the scram to "divebomb" targets that have mwd to shut them off, and re-orbits with regular point..
If hes lucky to pack a scram also then u can simply get inertia to sail u out of range again and turn it back on.
If another ceptor does it to you you can try do it to him, so its dangerous fro inties to scram eachother. Its really "luck o the draw" coz who ever lands first scram will re-orbit with point and thus smash his opponent.
I love this change, will make ceptors more interesting :D

Best of all, on the chance that an Inty makes a mistake and uses this tactics on an AB Close ranged Inty, the AB inty can just laugh, pop Web and Scram and blast the MWD one out of the sky :P

It's kind of useless to discuss this all before we can test it out on sisi, but there is this thought that keeps hauting me...
Obviously we need scripts for modules that are as powerful as sensor boosters/dampers and tracking disruptors, but nobody thinks its weird a shortrange scram can sortofweb AND scram you?
I mean I start to reconsider using claws, too, but I think it's odd.

Well if you do that you might aswell trow away all your interceptors. Interceptors need to be abble to constantly mwd or they will instantly die everytime they tackle something in a engagement. Especialy when going into 7500 meters puts them into webrange.
Please make interceptors immune to the effects of the new 7500 meter scramblers so they dont die every 5 minutes.
You're being stupid here.
(a) Interceptors tackling with 7.5km scrams... wtf? If you want to be a pure out of webrange tackler, you fit a 24km point, and you don't get to 13km range, much less 9km (range of T2 scram). Anyone doing so before used to die to webs, now they'll die to short-range scrams.
(b) AB interceptors fitting 9km (T2) scrams are going to be murdering turret ships without anti-frig gear.
Seriously, whining about interceptors and 9km scrams is just lol. It's like whining about 90% webs making interceptors useless. Which would be stupid, right?
This.
Also: I hate you for being such an idiot, this is the start of inty being awesome, with their high base speed and web nerf they will able able to catch other mwd'd ships and run high damage fits a lot more safely than before.

How much can a ceptor go with a high end AB. And how fast will it go with single new web on it?

Thoughts on blockade runners? They haven't been mentioned yet....but they definitely need their MWD. Will you need multiple scramblers to overwhelm their built in WCS?

Uhh, irrelevant. A BR in web range is as dead as he would be in scramble range. And they only really use them in cloak+align tricks anyway.
And in terms of pure RP value, how the new scramblers work hasn't really been mentioned. They might not even warp scramble you anymore.

Tackling in a ceptor (with a web) is already a suicidal ordeal, heh. As soon as you 90% web them, they 90% web you, and that's bad. Now, the web is less, but you have a MWD to worry about. Short answer is either have an AB instead, an AB as well, or just don't get into web/scramb range, lol. Disrupt them from a distance and let your gang worry about it.
I don't see these changes killing inty's TBH. I see inty's doing just fine after this patch.

Dont have time to play with EFT damage graphs... Does anyone know, is that fast to save ceptor from being hit by medium/large guns (since it doesn't have sig inflated by MWD)

I ran a scenario on the tracking guide w/ a thorax shooting at a wolf w/ transveral velocity of 440m/s (sig radius of 33m). It only had a 10% chance of hitting the wolf at 5km+. So yes, inties that close going that speed should rock.

That translates to 0.1% chance of hitting it at 500m. Naturally, the thorax will be moving at 220m/s itself vs a Wolf so that changes things a tad, but if it's a classic MWD/web/point fit it won't have enough speed. AB fit will kill you naturally (as he has a web and you don't).
It's even more favourable for three-midslot AFs/ceptors.
