Too rediscover the game, and if so did you kick yourselves afterwards or was it the best move you had made.
I am thinking for me it may be a good plan, its letting go of the 40mil skill points thats causing me the issue not the character itself.
Short and sweet really for a big decision

If the goal is to 'rediscover' the game, then yeah... 40m SP would get in the way of that. I think that, if you don't want to give up the SP, then 'rediscovery' may not be what you're really after.
Can I have all the stuff your new noob character won't be able to use?

Well most people sell the damn things don't they. Some might delete them but they are either very whimsical or something, because they can sell for billions as long as you can begrudgingly pay the transfer fee.

Absolutly not he would be the richest newb character in EVE. with no isk worries for a while but then again if i was to rediscover the game maybe the isk would be a hinderance

Seriously, if you want to "Rediscover" the game that much, just stop training on the vet character and start a new one - that way if you kick yourself later, you've only lost some training.
Absolute worst case - sell the vet for isk. If you're worried that the piles of money will get in the way of "rediscovering" the game, let an alt hold it. ---------------- Ambulation Answers

Yep the trouble with that is that getting into good corporations means screenshots etc and it would make it hard to explain and possibly get in the way of me getting on

So make a new acccount with a new character and let your current one go inactive with the longest skill you can find to train =]
Atleast you;ll have the whole rediscover thing and won't slam your head into the desk in 3 months when you realise what you've lost =P

I've talked to friends who have sold/binned their older characters before and they've all come to regret it eventually. Definitely agreed with taking the second account/train an alt options.

Use one of your two other slots to make another character :), then you have the option to go back later.

can be good, can be annoying.
I've 'lost' 2 characters in my EVE career; one of them a 2003/06 that I ebayed away (when CCP allowed you to do that) when I first quit EVE, the other a 2004/03 through other means. Combined between them I've lost over 100mil SP
but you know what? I don't miss it at all. Sure, I would have liked to keep it, but it's not like my e-life is over or anything ...

Edited by: Tao Han on 27/07/2008 11:12:09 2.5 years is the oldest char I have deleted. Sometimes I regret it but if I wouldnt have done that I would not have made this one and I would never have met the wonderful players in my employment history list.
But I wouldnt recommend it...

Short and sweet really for a big decision
I have never heard about anyone who deleted a 3+ year character to start a new one. Would be stupid since you can just as easy start a new one and get the same taste.
I have heard of someone who came running to the forums claiming they hated EVE so much after all the "nerfs" that they where going to delete their character and leave the game! One did so for a few months ago. He was going to biomass a 5 year old account i think?? And leave the game! He was quite adamant in his decision since the game have bugged him for a long time now. But a week later he was still loggin in. On the same character. Shame really. I really wanted EVE to get rid of such a high SP character so I could advance one step higher up the list myself. Sigh.
Most people who are claiming they are deleting high level characters usually have a temporaily moment of madness/insaninty or are in rage with a recently heavy loss of an expensive ship. Or they are being so drunk that they dont know the difference between water and beer anymore. Sooner or later they will wake up and be back to realities. Because whatever their situation is: its bloody dramatic and drastic to delete a 3+ year character - no matter their situation with the game.

Actually it would be kind of fun to start over with 5000 isk again. Eve is great when you dont have tons of isk and really appreciate the mission/trading rewards and to see your wallet grow.

if its your character, keep it. if you bought it, traded it, inhereted it and such - then at least use it. Low sp is just low sp. . .the expreience of being low sp is being limited in what you can fly. The rest is in your head. ----

i can't imagine selling ANY of my characters over 10m SPs. heck, i'd have a hard time with anything over 5m. thats literally time that cannot be shortcut back to and totally thrown away.
to each their own, you payed for it. i just wouldn't do it, especially since trial accounts are free.

As other have said just start another account and let your current one lapse.
IF you want to start over then selling the old for ISK is NOT starting over because getting the ISK from scratch is actually the hardest part of the game.
And if you really find you need isk you can still sell gtc's for isk and still have your old character.
Besides you spent all that time creating that character from scratch building up the rep, why would you want to give it to someone else to use.
I never delete my characters from the games I have played. The characters and names are mine even after I quit.
At least for me a characters history , the things they have done , mistakes they made are what makes them what they are today. Perhaps that is a little too RP for most but so be it. To each there own. So think about what you do very carefully cause EVE is not like other MMO's. You can't just power level yourself back up to your old level like you can do in the other games. |

unsure how giving up a character to rediscover the game will be a positive thing? SP is SP and no matter how your Eve endevour has went thus far, you can always quite your corp, your responsibilities, even sell all your ships if you are so inclined to do so, and disappear into a rookie system in 1.0 sec space.
Sp is an irreplaceable commodity in IMO
Just my 2 cents worth . . .
