TD tempests are so 2006 ...
1. Since HP buffs, rigs etc. noone in their right mind flies AC tempests anymore (low DPS, no survivability, yeah GL with ECM drones).
2. If you fit only an AB, no (MWD) blaster boat is going to suffer, because they will be in 1Km range of you quickly and then you're dead.
3. If you fly in gangs, fit 3 damage mods, sensor booster, web/disrupter. If you don't fly in gangs, you'll do much better in a Typhoon.
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

I agree, Battleship type close range setups are so rare. . .I still see cruisers as dominating the field, with CSs making a comeback at most. And if I wanted to close range in a BB, I would get in the Phoon. . .damn near took me long enough to train all that. . . ----

the tempest will be good after the changes .... 2 TD's with optimal range disruption and you can almost kite any turret battleship outside their range (kill the ogres ffs :P dont cry about drone dmg) (the other dont have slots to fit ew ... so minmatar versatility will be valuable again)

Not sure about the figures, but tracking on blasters suck chubby anyway, so it may work.
From where in hell you guys developed this myth?
Blasters have the BEST TRACKING IN GAME!!!!! WAKE UP!!! ------------------------------------------------- If brute force doesn't solve your problem... you are not using enough

Particularly on a Megathron. Geez, I can't believe the amount of players who're too stupid to know the basic facts about their ships.

Kigura, Blasters may have the highest tracking values for short range weapons in the game. (about 15-20% above Pulse Lasers) Their vastly shorter range is their own worst enemy here. At those ranges the Transversal(or Radial Velocity) of the target gets very high very fast, meaning you will have some trouble hitting a target at optimal without it being webbed to a much lower velocity.

If shooting sub BS ships, well, they do prefectly good damage all the way up to disruptor range (Neutrons - is there any other gun?) with much better tracking then pulses, and better tracking then ACs with barrage (roughly similar to ACs with T1 ammo which have 2km optimal, 20km falloff).
If shooting battleships, who gives a toss? Anything screwing over your tracking is screwing over their tracking worse, as blasterthrons do generally use CN AM L at short-range and out-track everyone else, in addition to a lot of their DPS being Ogres which don't give a toss about transversal velocities/etc when firing on a BS.

Dont waste time with dmg mods, use RF EMP, and dmg drones and if your as serious with the pest as me, put every known implant in eve to focus your dmg better, including large auto spec 5. It all helps.
I gave up trying to gank my tempest long ago. Im quite content to sit outside stations active tanking a blaster domi + 2x ruptures 'til i run out of cap charges ( good times ).
Tracking disruptor already works on a pest btw. Neutron mega CN antimatter, 4.5 opti, 13 faloff. with TD - 2.6k opti. 7k faloff. That alot of DPS reduction if your sitting at 9km. -------

This. I still fly a dual rep tempest tho. Not because its any good, but simply because its the ship and style I started playing eve for. If you look up my kills you will notice it really isnt used all that much =(
