Rumor has it IAC/CVA/paxton etc just lost like 50 capitals in SV5 and doomsdays wiped out a BS fleet :O
Details are sketchy and entirely from IRC but sounds like an -A- pos was being reinforced but the process got interrupted rather successfully, anyone have details ?
update; CVA and co jumping out, sounds like tackling is an issue !

pretty lolerskates.
Von Zarovick bumped Thug out of the pos shields like 30km, thug goes mental and I make fun of him for being paranoid...
Thug is 2km from friendly pos and CVA hic warps in and tackles Thug, pops cyno and 50 caps cyno in, thug gets back inside the shields and AAA support begins bubbling.
Err then AAA dreads came in about 30 against 30, then another cva cyno, another 10 caps, then aaa cyno and another 15 caps, then another aaa cyno and 15 caps...

Can confirm we had a friendly wrestle with AAA in SV5.
Lost my second dread in as many days, but had fun in the process.
Today the lag wasnt bad for me atleast, but maybe I was "blessed", as I heard some complained about lag.
But I guess it didnt turn out quite as we had hoped |

actually, thug was pretty calm.
secondly, he was inside pos when first ship appeared, and when dreads jumped in he had been in pos for like, 2 minutes.
I think around 31 hostile capital kills and 8 losses. ( those are what i counted form kb)

There's no question -A-'s capital gang was clearly superior to CVA's. Hopefully we'll get better; there was a time when conventional battles against -A- were an equally forgone conclusion. The only way we got better was to continually fight a clearly superior enemy.
Here's hopin' our learning curve is steep. (Bring on the memes!)

Let's get it right too. -A- and Co (UNL and a few whoknowswho) had over 85 Capitals compared to the CVA/Friend fleet of around 55-60. Couple that with -A-'s support fighting the hostile Capitals and timing their warp outs with the Doomsdays, it was a bygone conclusion that the fight would go to -A-.
So really, no one got "pwnd" and no one was "outsmarted." Just guys looking for fights, we're getting them. And awesome enough as it is, there's more smack from the Noob Alts and persons not involved in these great fights, than is going on in local.
:)

Simple facts show you did get pwnd, plain and simple, your wrecks are on the field, theirs are not.
Loosing 23 dreads and 2 carriers, while only killing 9 dreads is not being pwn'ed ? and AS i understand it, you had the grid load advantage as well...... |

1)No sir, due to the prime time difference between CVA/Allies and -A- the latter had the control of the field
2)Both ours and theirs wrecks were on the battlefield. Of course more our wrecks than theirs, we have not been victorious in the fight.
Once again, thanks to -A- for the fight, seeing 68 dreads 3 moms and 2 titans waiting for combat to start was really an awe-inspiring experience :)

It sure was a new experience for me..
As i got late on, and no chance to jump in to a sniper and get in to the action, i decided to go in something speedie and get in the action as tackler...
Never been tackler in such a fight before....and i have to say, im very impressed with those that manage to tackle anything in these fights...
Lag was not a problem as long as i didnt go to where the -A- pos were. Was able to tackle some -A- at a planet and the litle latency in modules were okish.
But, when warping to pos and should tackle hostile dreads or what not, i had hostile ships targetting me from 350km distance, modules not working, and ships shooting me i wasnt able to see
To not get shot down right away i figured i atleast could allign to somewhere in space and hit mwd now and then, just so i didnt sit still.....
At the end i think it was a huginn that killed me, even though i had 3 more ships on my kill mail but i never saw those... The huginn pilot must be used to this, cause he was able to get out of my locking range as soon as i got lock and then get back close... And he had been shot at a lot.....both his armor and most of his struct where gone, and only flying with 50% shield left... Talk about living on the edge
This experience gave me a lot of respect to those dedicated tacklers who is able to fight under these enviroments...

Thats me, had 27 structure left at one point before I needed to regen some shields back up again. Lag was pretty heavy in the beginning so was trying to avoid taking dmg and try to kill some small shit, but it got better after a while.

Swiftly delivered them back to your POS, giftwrapped in the wreck of my DDD'ed Ares.
Gotta love these POS courier missions!
nah I was flying a cerberus, the apoc I believe was matty01 :P

Actually, the one thing that did go properly for us in that fight from a command/control perspective is that someone did report what direction -A- support vessels were warping out/back from so we managed to have our support there waiting.
The overall results speak for themselves, as I said earlier...there's no reason to deny we got manhandled. Internally there's a full break-down of what...well, "broke down" for us (there were several factors) but making excuses is a) lame and b) could potentially compromise later operations
We lose this round for sure. We'll have to be content with costing -A- about 30 dreads this weekend while losing (as a Providence community) quite a bit more.

hmm... well I think both alliance took great losses.
-aaa- in the last 3 days lost 26 dreads (a lot for 1 alliance)
the 5 alliance they are fighting took 45 capital looses.
No idea who will recover faster but i personally think 5 alliance can recover faster.

Compare our losses with yesterday and Friday. Specifically the names of pilots, then decide if our logistics are really that bad :)
Anyways, GF to CVA/IAC and friends. I really thought this fight was never gonna happen, especially when our CTA was called off after killing the first pos with no resistance. So I log off, go get some food, watch tv, come back and see my msnger flashing and people yelling for capitals. Log back in, join fleet, get cynod right into the fight and start shooting. Was a lot of fun, and minimal lag for me. -------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Darkwingd on 28/07/2008 16:36:35 From a Paxton grunt point of view.
Get home horribly late from family outing(good lord why, my desire to sit and listen to my family talk about politics is low). I log in and undock and x up thinking that we were close to if not already jumping in. In my rush I forgot to 1) check my fitting, sorta forgot my 3rd bcu, and 2) insure my ship, whoops.
Sadly we did not have the numbers to engage the combined -a- unl fleet so we sit around hoping for more dreads to magically appear. Gang hovered around 50 people for what seemed like forever.
First POS went down and a break was called as the next one didn't come out for another 4 hours. People started to log as it was getting to late, others went on extended afks, gang chat became a spam of youtube links, it was very relaxed until we hear, ET's Erebus just got bumped 30km out the POS shield.
Yells went out in Gang, TS, and Vent for everyone to wake up and get ready, people slowly woke up and we found our cyno pilot(who had gone afk)and he gets ready to light up. Cynos up and we get orders to drop siege upon jump in and start pounding on the titan while carriers bump him.
However as the fleet is jumping in we hear reports that hes back in the shield, order goes out don't drop siege, with responses of "I already did." When the grid loads we have our blob sitting 25 km off the POS with the Erebus behind the shield. Orders go out to wait out the 10 min for siege, and while we are here to take out the scram batteries on the pos.
Start to unload on the batteries and a swarm of dictors come and bubble the crap out of us, we were in one giant fuzzy bubble, looked cool. Dreads come out of siege and we get the orders to align to planet 7, only realizing to late that takes us towards the pos so we have to flip around and align to the F9E gate.
Dictor bubbles start to drop and some cyno out immediately, leading to a bit of confusion but its dealt with and we move on, finally every one is aligned and the gang warp goes.....and 8 dreads are still bubbled gg.... one of them being me.
As the gang warps off a cyno goes up and -a- Dreads start to jump in. Those of us that are left on the field are told to drop siege and the rest of the gang warps back and we start to have a good old fashion slug fest.
Primaries and secondaries are called, at first it seems its going well but eventually their superior numbers catches up with us and we get the order to get out if we can.
I end my siege cycle and start to move out of the bubble I am in. Im almost out of the bubble my entire overview starts flashing red, and not being in siege boy howdy do I die fast.
All in all we got throughly worked. But it was a blast and by far the most fun Ive had in Eve in a long time(better than the 20 min of grid loading->crash->spend and hour trying to get back in that was Friday).
Looking forward to more.

As a conventional ship pilot (mostly tacklers) I didn't enjoy Friday due to lag, but last night was awesome. I think most of us agree that CCP reinforced the node.
Being in the support fleet of about 150 man, it was fun to intercept people at safespots and gates.. The previous battle had huge gate bubbles, this one was far better since eveyone at least could come in and join the fight.
On leaving, I magically escaped the 00:07 DD which was dropped at the returning support fleet, when the DD was reported I just clicked the jump button into F9E :P
-A- Thx for the huge fun , I am really hoping for more !

Overall, great fights indeed, unfortunately spoiled by the LAG. CCP created the LAG concept... I wish they could remove it now...
First capital fight was weird, with 10mn activation command delay. A bit like looking at a very slow slide show in reverse speed...
Asking for some logistic support and being told that my Naglfar was microwaved 10 minutes before!
Second capital match was a bit better, staged in several moves with capital reinforcement coming slowly... There again, my Naglfar was one of the first to melt... pod did not make it either as I was lagged again...
Well, those 2 Naglfar looked like vertical sausages anyway
Zumzat, thanks for the movie. It is cool to see those giant ships in other actions than POS bashing.
Thks to CVA & IAC for bringing it and creating some great fight opportunities. I wish for many more in the incoming days.

Movie is speeded up, and even in that mode you can see that guns activating took some time.

Caldan Tarus; The song is "above & beyond - air for life"
And I only shared the ingame footage from the fight. The creator is Tinator from CVA and not me. I felt bad when ppl credited me for that, so I had to correct that.
The first Sv5 fight below. Very laggy.

Andri needs to change the title of the topic to reference the fact that the battle is long over.
Many mails are still missing five days removed, but here is the final tally after counting wrecks, viewing fraps carefully, and other analysis. The numbers are still only accurate to within about 10%.

CVA killboards look much different. You total is missing 10 dread kills on CVA boards, with killmails. Maybe that was a typo? Either way, more to come, I'm sure

Aye, see it now, the elipse is backwards. I still have some great screenshots of some very close up action of the dread battle. I just need to ask permission to post them. So close, you can see every detail of the dreads. I managed to hit a wreck in lag, got my Buzzard decloaked
