Yesterday night i had enough. After a 14 days trial and almoust a month of sucessfull missions, i decided that it has to stop. After a big cup of cofee I decided to enter my rifter, completely pimped with PVP t2 equipement. I was very excited, "it's going to happend" i say. With 0.43 faction standing with minmatar i just couldn't wait another 36 missions to join the army and see some real action. My current location is somwhere in Metropolis area, near Heck system, i jumped to Bei system which is in low sec zone. First asteroid field.... damn empty, ok, nevermind, i jump to second... few rats only satisfied my need for blood for about 2 minutes... ok, let's use scanner, how? i never did that. I line up with asteroid field and i press scan... i am starting to press all scan buttons and all ranges to find something, ok, "my scanner is broken" i said (i dont want to admit that i dont know how to do it, hehe) i will jump to stargate... there it is, a gate which will lead me into glory. I lighted my cigar and started to orbit around. Then suddenly some cruiser came in (i think, it was very fast since i was in frenzy). I said "YES", i started to get closer, my afterburner was on fire, i was on fire, i locked him, then i pressed instantly my warp scrambler and webber, some warning screen showed up which i instantly ignored and pressed ok, my AC2 were ready to fire and i pressed the button. I said "YEEEAAA"... In next second i became red, my shield and my armor were completely destroyed, in seconds after while i was still in my "Arrrggg" phase i just exploded... WOW, what and action, i died... my whole action lasted 2 seconds but i was pretty happy... I started a chat with a guy who nailed me down and i said, oh man thanks for a good fight ... he said "you attacked me? i havent even noticed"... so what happend... sentry guns which were near the gate destroyed me instantly when i turned hostile... one big LOL. So that is my first experience, i hope you enjoyed it.
Now i am off to buy new ship and start new PVP, next time, far far away from sentry guns :))

don't go near stations or gates in low sec while you have GCC
its all good loosing ships so long as you learn from it.

Yup, sentry guns are mean unless your flying something larger than a battlecruiser. also, read up on criminal flag timers, better to learn about its funkiness now then to find yourself in the same situation after undocking.

This is why I love EvE. It doesnt hold your hand. When you try to do something silly it gives you a nice clear warning. If you choose to ignore and do it anyways, the game says "screw it go all out" and lets you learn the hard way. OP will never make the same mistake again and we got a funny story out of it. If only other MMOs were like this.

i am a new player,
I didn't know that sentry guns are going to attack me because i was in low sec zone.
and i didn't read the warning, i just pressed "ok" instantly

It could be a combination of several (or all) of the above ofcourse, I haven't quite figred it out yet, perhaps because I don't really care.

Dude you're way off. Must be at least yey high to ride the nightcrew lollercoaster. but generally we recruit players from any age group. I just happen to prefer young boys because I'm an ordained catholic ministers in real life. I also fly spaceships in real life.

My mistake, i was writing this little story from my work and i still don't know all star system by names. I was in Hagilur which is 0.4 and my position was stargate which leads to Bei.
I am glad that this little story amused you, and maybe it will point to some new players what not to do in PvP

Hey man at least you didn't try to web a friend's hauler at a low sec gate to help it get going faster.
Only to remember the friend isn't in your corp...and you're in a Raptor...

I have scrammed and webbed gates after having forgotten my modules were primed and clicking on the gate to jump (more than once).
My most recent sentry gun mishap was when I had a neutral on a gate targeted and was just toying around with him. A war target jumped through and I targeted the wt and activated my modules... only I activated them on the neutral. Somehow managed to get my taranis out with nothing more than a long plume of flames trailing me and pieces of my ship falling off as I warped.
...and I'm sure I'll do something equally stupid again.

Ah, I did the same thing eons ago in as newb in a Cormie trying to kill a Bantam on a low sec gate.
All ready to go, had all the guns primed and ready for firing as soon as locked. First volley takes the bantam into low armor, a couple of bright lights later, I'm in on my pod

Don't let the 'nub' comments discourage ya. There is a sense of elitism amongst some of more 'experienced' or already-existing PvPers.
It pleases me that people are whetting themselves with PvP early (earlier than I did). Carebearing is boring, and people tend to leave after a short time.
If it helps though, I also managed to lose a Crow (polycarb'd) after attacking a 'red' target autopilotting... in Empire space... and I (tried to) tackle(d) the guy right before I realized I was in 0.3 and shopping, not 0.0.
