this is serious I am sure when I started back in the dark ages you;d be laughed for fitting a nanofiber as it was more that useless, i you it any speed mod at all and back then it was debatlble if you even wanted too it was overdrives only. am I remembering this bit of history correct?

I believe it added a base 15 m/s and reduced your mass a bit back in RMR. That was when overdrives added a base 30 m/s or something (I'd imagine that named variants added more but I never really used them back then... due to how I was armor tanking shield ships and attaching reinforced bulkheads to armor ships oh god memories )

well I am going back to pre red moon rising but I doubt the mods changed much then but I do remember you never got any named varients often (they existed but very rare). I rmember the real nano boom came when they deciceded to fix alot of the modules they though were broken as no one used them in effect over powering many of them, for another example damage mods.

Could be that the low slot speed mods just sucked back in RMR and before, so even though there were no stacking penalties it still didn't make any sense to equip them.

You people forget the stab nerf already?
No dictors, and a few stabs meant no one had to putz around with nanos.

Edited by: Schalac on 31/07/2008 04:22:06 I remember when I though I was hot shite in my Cormorant when my buddy would run level 3 missions in Palas and I would kill all the frigs.
Edit: lol was changing to my main and accidentally posted.
I had a nanofiber hull on my destro because it made it so fast ... Good use of the one low slot caldari gets on their destroyer lol.

Yes OP Nano' used to be rubbish. Although I used to use them back them on my Impels' travel fitting. I loved having 3 I-stabs and 3 Nano's of the old stats on that hauler, vroom vroommmmmm.
Funny enough when they changed the stats last year, of I-Stabs, Overdrives and Nano's to their current incarnation. I remeber telling corp m8s, "You watch, with in a year, Nano's will be the FOTM, and well be slated for ner***e/readjustment". Seems like my prediction is just about on time. --

I flew nanoships long before the fotm crowd did. Granted mine never had rigs or snakes to help.
Rigs and Snakes have ultimately the biggest effect on the speed issue.

Yep, back in the day nanos were only useful on indies when you wanted to make them faster for collecting loot. That doesn't mean they weren't actually useful for nanoing as we know it, but very few people used them for that reason.
