For a while now I have been seeing a little info about scripts & modules. I have no idea what scripts are, where to get them, how to employ them... Can you write your own? Are the ædropsÆ from ratting? I have NO clue obviously... (hence this post..) IÆm looking at a Falcon build at Battleclinic.com & attempting to set a long-term goal for EW / Jamming. I read about the module ôF-90 Positional Sensorö which states ôthis module can be loaded with scripts to increase its effectiveness in certain areas.ö Any resource to educate myself on Scripts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best to my knowledge scripts are bought from NPC orders on the market. They are loaded into the module they affect like ammo and typically sacrifice one attribute in favor of another. So with a sensor booster for example, it could be scripted to either maximize tracking range, or lock time, but not both. |

I believe the BPOs are sold by pirate factions and other shady dealers like the Thukker tribe. They are quite cheap to make.
Many electronic warfare modules have two effects. For example, tracking disruptors reduce tracking speed and optimal range. You can load it with a script to disrupt *only* tracking speed or *only* optimal range. If you do so, you'll double one effect by giving up the other effect.
Beneficial electronics modules have similar scripts. The opposite of a TD is a tracking computer, and it has scripts to only increase optimal range, or only increase tracking speed. These scripts are like a kind of ammunition that you drop onto the module in the fitting window or load in space, except that they aren't used up like ammo is. They can be changed very quickly in space to change effects, so, they're quite useful.

This was seemed too much (and it was) because it meant you didn't have to make choices, so what they did is lower the dual bonus on the base module but give the option to choose for either of the option by using a script, this will double the chosen bonus (bringing it back to the old value) and nullify the other one.
There are several modules that can use scripts, you can look at them as specialist 'ammo' for support modules. On the market look under "ammunition & charges --> scripts".

If you look at a module that takes Scripts, you'll see that the module usually has two effects.
You can use that module with no Script, and the effects will be as listed.
Or, you can use a Script.
Loading a Script drastically reduces one effect, while boosting the other significantly. (There will usually be two Scripts for each module... one for boosting X & reducing Y, and another to boost Y and reduce X)
To use the Script, just drag it from Cargohold onto the module (or right-click load). They do not get consumed like ammo; you can swap them out whenever you like.
You can buy Scripts on the Market (browse Ammunition & Charges >> Scripts)

To emphasize on this, it is important to keep in mind that scripts can be swapped trough the context menu same as ammo or focus crystals. This means you can swap them out in flight and switch focus on what is important for the situation you are in at that time. They aren't set for the duration of your flight like modules.
