Unfortunately for Obama, he failed to consider how badly rising fuel prices and higher costs of living were going to damage his re-election prospects. He said as much on video to a college-age supporter during a 2008 'town hall meeting'. He just naively expected the American voter drink the 'green' Kool-aid and then bend over and take it for the team.

Plus, Logic Problems:
* oil produced in the US is sold on the world market via the international oil companies, so it's not like pumping locally will reduce US gas prices.
* if gas in cheap in the US (e.g. Newt's $2.50 gas promise,) people will just buy it up and sell it on the world market for profit.
* and yes, global warming is real and mankind is the main driver behind it.

tinfoil: More importantly, why should the US squander its oil reserves for some very minor short term price relief? The Illuminati think long term. Sitting on US oil reserves means that down the road, the US will have an Oil fueled military with which to conquer its solar and battery powered enemies/friends/neighbors.

Glad I could fill you in. Guess I don't blame you, most of this stuff got very little attention from liberal sources such as NBC, CNN, or the BBC. Didn't fit their template and agenda, so it never happened. Thank goodness that FOX considered it newsworthy, so the story wasn't completely buried.

None of the stories were overtly political, mostly your typical slobbering Obama-vacation worship coverage, though a few uncomfortable themes emerge (ie massive expense to visit a region under a national travel advisory....)

And even if the political attacks were being made - Homeboy Prez trots out his daughters at the drop of a hat when it suits his propaganda needs.

The event was widely reported in the Mexican/Spanish speaking world, so as far as security is concerned, the cat was already out of the bag.

Yet, shortly after being posted the stories were all ordered taken down...... Without comment or explanation.

The Telegraph, Huff Po, IBL, Free Republic, The Austrialian, the list goes on and on.

Shows how easily this White House can control what we are allowed to know, and how easily Obama wields this power.

Remember when the Bush Admin wouldn't let the media show photos of flag-draped caskets coming from Iraq? And reporters in Iraq had to play by Pentagon rules and only show flattering stuff? No footage or photos of U.S. casualties or civilian casualties allowed. Right-wing or left-wing, power politics people want to control what's shown in the media. The only surprise is that we just let them do it.

This is why a good bulk of the US army tuned into the BBC world service.

Actually, every US military base I've ever worked on, televisions in public spaces were tuned to Fox News. Probably because the soldiers prefer cable news that doesn't insult their intelligence.

I've frequently listened to and watched BBC news services, when there is absolutely nothing else to listen to on the radio. (IE, driving through foreign countries) The left wing bias is painfully obvious, though not quite as obvious and self-serving as NPR.
