Frustrating to have the ability to fit ships with an orca and then find out theres a road block to t3 ships in which you can't change out sub systems this way, but only through a station service.
Change this CCP, it seems like an unecesary restriction, I have seen a few threads, many of which are now locked, that have goten a great deal of suport for this change, many players would like to see it made so. seen where it was in some CSM talks also, sounds like it was being considered then was placed on hold for some reason, if so take it off hold and lets get it implemented, no reason I see that ships with a fiting service, and POS's with the same, should not have the ability to do this. |

No, and the reasoning is given in the dialogue box that pops up when you try to switch subsystems while in space. Support showing T2 and faction frequency crystal damage in the info window! |

Changing subsystems with pilots onboard would kill the pilots as the ship would fall apart. Don't be silly, ships don't survive without essential components. Quit whining and play! |

This is a tad ludicrous. You're saying you want the ability to completely dismantle your ship, in space, whilst in your pod and then completely rebuild it? This is massively different to swapping out a gun or a shield booster.
According to lore our ships have crew. These crew members are (I presume) what are used to perform the work swapping out components utilising the additional mechanisms of the orca (or other cap ship/POS). The reason they can do this is because changing out modules doesn't compromise the structural integrity or internal environmental systems of the ship.
A T3 hull is just a shell. The subsystems are what make it a ship. Therefore it seems a bit stupid to suggest that this can be done in space even with some help from an Orca. You would be completely dismantling the ship with no crew (as the crew couldn't survive outside the ship). How would you do this?
Just because you want to do it doesn't make it a good idea or in keeping with the lore. |

+1 to being able to do it at a POS. Long overdue and theres no good reason why not.
-1 to doing it in an orca. Orca swap would defeat the point of committing to a fit. |

It is a bug, that you cannot change the systems otherwhere than in a station. Though the posters are right, that you shall not be able to do it when in space, it MUST be possible INSIDE a POS or inside the bay of an Orca, if there is enough space.
The Orca is also considered as HiSec carrier and was designed for the purpose to have a platform for small and medium sized vessels while piloting in Hisec. As a TechIII is in this class and the bay is big enough to store it inside twice and the purpose of this bay is MAINTENANCE, the change of subsystems is not only possible, but a MUST.
The function to change subsystems is the very core part of TechIIIs technology and its versatibility builds the center of this ship. Loosing this option makes the TechIII nothing but another ship that loses specialization for average to have more possibilities with less power. Changing the systems of the ship while on duty to fit into nearly every scenario is the point of loosing specialization.

Because it's a part of the ship. It's not a module, it's PART of the ship. The ship is not pilot-able without all components nor can you put it together without 5 subsystems. |
