Maybe a dumb question, but when would you want to use an omni ECCM instead of a racial?
I can see the point of omni jammers, but if any given ship only has one racial sensor type, what's the benefit of boosting all 4?

There isn't one, but I once saw someone post that he just keeps a few multi ECCM in the corp hangar that anyone can use; 1 size fits all.

Because secretly it turns out that CCP do not actually play the game and thus thought "well we have multispectral jammers so why not multispectrial ECCM"

i was thinking the same thing. if a falcon fails rofl i know i know...anyway lets just "pretend" it happens. If there is a missed cycle and nothing else for that race the pilot is gona mash some nonracial specific and hope he gets lucky. So maybe it would help for those instences.

back in the day all ships had some sensor strength and their main race type alot more, eccm multis worked then and boosted all strengths respectivly.
they simply wernt upgraded when the ECCM mods turned to extra % rather than flat points.

plz learn about ecm+eccm before poting.
You can only be jammed by the ecm style e.g grav/magno of ur race. However, every single ecm mod has points against each, and therefore a chance at jamming all types of sensors. A second jammer will only work because that small chance has worked against that ship, not because it has used "heaps o power against one type to try overpower another".
Multi-spec ecm points for ships of other races are i think fail.
What i wonder tho is because its point based and not %, perhaps will it give u points of all ladar, radar, magno and grav in addition to ur single type. Wld be interesting to know...

jove ships have like 15 or 16 sensor strength for every type...
and for a jam to be achieved every one of those sensors must be jammed at once.

Pretty sure an Amarr ship with 0 LADAR increased by 96% is still going to have 0 LADAR. So Multi ECCM wont give any tertiary benefit.

CCP made it so that Jove ships can be jammed by anything. Say, if you're flying a ship with 10 to all four sensor strengths, and someone with a 10 jamming strength ladar jammer jams your ladar sensor, you can't lock at all.
Even shorter version: If you got all four sensor types, any racial works perfectly against you.
Don't believe me, try the apotheosis, and have a friend jam you with a racial jammer.
