Article about it
According to the scientists. The expansion of the universe haven't slowed down even a little since the Big Bang. It has infact even speeded up. This raises up speculations that In a distant time from now, we will not see any other galaxies than ours, the suns will shrink to white dwarves, and ultimatelly, the void of space will tear everything appart. The galaxy, the asteroids, the planets, your house, even the dark holes. And eventually, not even the protons and neutrons can escape this faith, resulting in a cold, dark, empty space.
If space had a mother, Space would get grounded till he turns 18.

Here's quite an interesting site about various end of the world and end of the universe scenarios. The scenario you're talking about is probably the most plausible given current observations. The universe will expand indefinitely without slowing down, and with a fixed amount of energy in an indefinitely expanding volume, the universe will suffer heat death. It will become too cold for any form of life to survive. It will be the ultimate state of entropy, thus rendering all human achievement ultimately pointless. Ah well. __________________________

We just need to learn how to travel back in time - problem solved and we can live forever. ---

We use anti-matter with anti-matter containment fields to affect the space-time continuum of course. ---

But you're forgetting - antimatter doesn't exist any more. Neither does matter for that matter (see what I did there?). __________________________

Antimatter. Energy from one teaspoon of antimatter is enquivalent to 100 hiroshima bombs.

Just to clarify heat death will not occur for a very very long time. We are talking trillions of years yes?

Does it matter that it doesnt matter? :)
Actually going back in time should always be possible even if a future universe has completely collapsed and doesnt exist anymore in that time frame. In this time frame, it still exists.

This is hundreds of billions of years ahead in time.
I won't be around to see it, neither will humanity [c'mon let's be honest, in a hundred billion years we could transcend to another realm or build another reality or something ] but it is interesting.

if they change the past wouldnt that mean in theory they might never of excisted to go back and change stuff as there grandad never met grandma cos u stopped and asked for directions on the way to the thing you had to change and he never bumped into her so they never met and had kids, and created the guy who had to go back in time and change this thing ... omg my head is hurting now

Well, you know how in quantum physics, an atom can be at two places at once?
I think it will be difficult to understand the concept of time travel with our current linear thinking, but we will at some point. I dont think the paradox of meeting yourself will ever happen, but I dont know why yet.

Tiem travels are pretty fragile things. The theory has it that if you go back in time and kills even a little fly, it will have disastreous consequences in the future. Well I guess unless you travel a little more back in time, and a little, and a little, and a little, then hit the fast forward button.

the journey of your physical form is insignificant to the journey of your soul. and the soul can venture further than just this universe.
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
or I could be completely and utterly wrong. either way, this universe wont end in my lifetime (hopefully), so it doesn't really concern me all that much. and even if it did, I'd feel compelled to worry more about the destruction of this planet, before the destruction of this universe.

humanities' genius will render time near irrelevant to conscious existence long before heat death.
besides, who knows what physics will look like in a universe of heat death? an eternally empty universe is absurd.

10^10^72 years from now. That's 10^1+72 0s. So trillion doesn't even cover it. At that point even the black holes will have dissolved and there will be nothing at all, maybe not even energy.

He seemed to have some dumb ideas and major misconceptions mixed in with some interesting ideas but i stuck with it. Then I got to the Millenium bug at the bottom part of this page and it became clear he has no clue what he's talking about. He's talking about things he doesn't even remotely understand. Even the more normal things. So just another crazy, move along. _______________

On a side note, a book I would recommend that explores this is the 'sequel' to the Time Machine - The Time Ships by Stephen Baxter. It's a thoroughly good read and goes into some depth of the multiverse theory, without being overly complicated.

For example, what happens if the universe ends in 2012 but some humans managed to go back in time to the 19:th century, affecting technology in a way to try and help the collapse from never happening? Is it impossible or not? What if every time you time travel it creates a new time frame with its own unique events and outcomes?

I'm not too worried about this one. Firstly it assumes we live that long any how, and secondly it's based on the assumption that our world view (eg theory of relativity, all that fancy physics stuff) is actually correct, which in the long run, statistically, is next to impossible

this thing with "time travel" it maybe is possible, however if it is possible then everythinggoes back in time aswell, would explain why we haven't "noticed" it.
