So I'm wondering what the best way to go about this is. I'm going to start shipping P1's and selling them tell I can start making P2's. my question is weather I should ship my P1's to a Factory planet and go from P1-P2-P3 and maybe P4, or on my harvester planets go P0-P1-P2 and ship them to a factory planet and make P3's and maybe P4's. |

Ive made p0 all the way up with multiple p4 with only 5 planets.
If you want to keep it simple and your only using one account only do one p2 to per planet. Takes very little work to reset.
Know how to scan properly. It improves your yield considerably. |

I was just wondering because if I were too make P0-P1-P2 it would take less time to full the LP but i would pay more in taxes right? |

Factory planets are only worthwhile if you need the goods you're making..
For profit, select P2 goods are worth more on their own (e.g. coolant/rocket fuel) - basically anything bought for more than ~4k ISK..
I'm still not sure what the best strategy is to make the most P2 goods with the most profit, though..
(At the minute I'm just making one P2 good per planet (as Jouron said) - but I'm still thinking about it...)
The things to remember about hi-sec, is that a) you'll rarely extract enough to keep the factories occupied 24/7 - and/or b) you'll strip-mine a planet in no-time... (Especially since they've all already been strip-mined)
But it still doesn't take much for a planet to pay for itself and become pure profit, (free ISK!), even if it doesn't last for long..
The only question then becomes when to leave one planet alone and move on to the next...? |

so is it even worth going from P0-P4? it seems it would just be better ISK that on all havester planets you go from P0-P1 and ship the P1's over to a Factory planet and make P1-P2-P3 and sell the P3's.
Maybe when i have more toons doing Pi i will do the P0-P1-P2 on my Havester planets and just have the Factory planet make P2-P3's |

Well - just to make sure, I ran the numbers again, and it appears I'd made a mistake somewhere before - P4's do look to be worthwhile - but of course require the most input.
P3's are not, though.
P0 = 6000/h (e.g.) Ionic Solutions + Suspended Plasma @ 3 ISK = 36k ISK/h P1 = 40/h Electrolytes + Plasmoids (etc.) @ 500 ISK = 40k ISK/h P2 = 5/h Rocket Fuel @ 10k ISK = 50k/h
P3 = 3/h (e.g. Camera Drone etc.) @ ~ 50k ISK = 150k ISK/h = 20P2 @~8k ISK = 160k ISK/h
P4 = 1/h (e.g. Self-Harmonizing Power Core) @1.5m ISK = 1.5m/h = 18P3 @50k = 900k ISK = OR = 120P2 @~8k ISK = 960k/h ISK
Not sure what I did wrong for the P4's before - unless I miscounted the amount of P2's required somehow... Oh well.
Still - having to produce 120 P2 an hour to make 1 P4 = 24 P2 factories = 48 P1 factories. You can imagine how many planets you'd need for that, can't you? (And characters, and skills...) ;) And if you buy any ingredients, it'll cut into the profit margin... |

wow thank you for the work you put in, it really helped. im thinking i might stick with just selling P3's, the extra work to put in to makeing P4's is not worth the ISK, compard to the amout of ISK to makeing P2's witch is easy and makeing P3's is just as simple.
the only issue i see is needing to learn Interplanetary Consolidation VI to get the needed P0 mats to feed the P1 factorys, but thats not to big of a deal. |

If you make valuable P2's such as coolant and rocket fuel - (from single gas and storm planets) - the extra hoops for P3's simply are not worthwhile at all...
An additional problem with a lot of P3's, that I haven't mentioned, is needing P1 goods from different planets, meaning more additional planet space taken up with P2 factories.
A P3 good will usually require 4 (if not 5, depending on skills) planets to make. Not all the ingredients for a P3 will be that valuable - (they range from ~3-10k ISK) - which will reflect in the price of the P3 good itself. A couple, like camera drones are worth 50k ISK - but not many, depending on the value of the P2 goods involved.
If you use all such planets to make high value P2 goods, (such as rocket fuel or coolant), instead of low value goods, (such as synthetic oil), then you'll make more money per planet in the same amount of time.
The ONLY downside to valuable P2 goods, is that they also tend to be in short supply - (they're the first to get mined out) - but if you're careful where you build, they'll still make more money in the short-term - and long term is non-existent in hi-sec, due to the state the planets are in, anyway... |

I do PI in nullsec, but I just make P2s and ship them back to empire every couple weeks. I make a variety of products (mostly POS fuel block components and common T2 components) to insulate myself from market fluctuations since I don't go to Jita very often.
Keep in mind that you can update your PI jobs from anywhere and you can store a lot of product in a launchpad, but in order to run a factory planet you have to actually be where you're doing PI at so you can shift materials around. Depending on where you live and what you do, this may or may not be a significant factor. In my case we roadtrip a lot so doing P3s and up isn't really a good option for me.
