Bobs active pvp numbers are comparative to the NC's, but not to RA + NC by which i mean BOB are outnumbered on every front. Of course, it isn't just about numbers. System layout, distance, will to fight and the lag monster (probably the biggest factor) all playing a part. BOB have always admitted they want a) fights and b) view the forums as part of the conflict - ****ing people off and making them play something else/not log in helps you or feeds into point a) 
Tri as BOB pets was always a tinfoil heavy subject.
I think alot of people said, well, they arn't part of the Northern block that survived after the collaspe of Dusk and Dawn (D2), Freelancer Alliance (FLA) etc. After taking VFK from Aftermath Alliance they expanded in Deklein and Fade because they were better than the alliances that initially grabbed the space (i.e. SPARTA et al). In addition Tri mark 1 had alot of well know forum *****s and eve celebrities, i don't know if that had an effect but it might have done in that BOB are vocal on the forums, so in some peoples heads a connection was made (?)
However, Tri never really helped FATAL/MPIRE & buddies, who were v pro BOB/MC at the time - not surprising given the high number of ex-LV in their ranks and having fought alongside MC to take space in Branch, they even went down to help MC/FIX at some point - infact TRI fought with the NC (of the time back then a year ago) in a few memorable engagements in BKG if i remember...i think the node crashed, caps died, etc. I think at one point Tri were labelled the -AAA- of the North . . .
Success can breed stagnation and I think thats what happend with TRI. They hated the crap boring pos stuff (or so they professed) until they realised, with invention taking off and the rise in r64 moon mins values, you could make a very nice income off them. In addition with the amusing smack on the Tri killboards, tension grew ... and you probably know the rest of the drama. Tri mark II won't make those mistakes again i think, though if they do it will probably result in much forum hrhr-ing Until then or the north weeken's they wait in the wings in Venal, as they did before.
As for people laughing at IRON for losing space in the drone regions...perhaps you weren't around 1-2years ago when IRON oringinally lived in and around deklein and the VFK area before the drone regions were put into game and they were pushed out. The last few months must be like a home coming, of sorts, for their old guard

Since there was no actual battle report i'll make one.
All started then Solar\Death gang was cruising around Cobalt Edge region looking for a fight.
We came to MK- system, anchored large bubble @ station and camped it with around 12 battleships and some support. (Total gang was around 30). Other part of the gang left system and moved to other location in a search of other targets.
At this time MH gathered a defence force of 10 carriers 2 dreadnoughts (+2 more jouned during the battle) and Titan.

At the warp in point he was too far away from carriers and order to shoot Titan was given. We ripped through his shield quite fast, but then was surprised - Armor tanked Leviathan is Uber. :D Also carriers came closer and started to Repair him and 10 battleships could not break carrier repping.
During the fight info about tackled titan was sent all over the info channels and reinfosments started to join the battle from all over the drone regions. But one by dictors \ HD where dying and then last of them warped away from full rack of fighters and drones, titan jumped away, leaving other capitals on battlefield. few minutes later other carriers jumped away leaving only one tackled and hordes of drones and fighters on field. 1 carrier who went down by selfdestructing . Second - chimera left on the sniping point.
At this moment battle moved closer to station there more carriers and dreadnoughts were fighing combined forces os Solar \ Death \ IRC \ whoever got there...(Titan was tackled at sniper point near it).
2 dreads was bumped of the station and used siege mode, to extend theyr life for few minutes. 2 more carriers were bumped off the station, and killd. Dreads went down last. Fight was over. Battlefild full of drones and wrecks was held by allied forces.
1.5 hour of non-stop shooting. Thanks HM at least for using theyr caps in cyno jammed system and accepting this battle.
100-120 Local. Minimal lags. Some range desincs.

As for a target, the NC is like an onion one layer getting pealed away at a time...Hydra happens to have huge numbers and a large amount of space, everyone says they only keep it because of their allies...so isn't it time they lose it? NC will lose 1500 or so members, seems rational to me...when the NC mixed fleet of 150 or so attacked our 70 man fleet I heard no cries of it not being fair...post with your NC main, and I can assure you my corp will gladly pay you a long visit since you are clearly a more worthy opponent.

Hydra has been hit hard a number of times, they may not be the strongest alliance in 0.0 but have fought against Tri before, fought against other hostiles since and without help from the rest of the NC. Tri is never going to do any serious or lasting damage to them.

After getting the call through the command channels, everyone rushed asap, but not everyone was lucky to get there in time (cobalt edge=end of world ). But it was fun, and in the end we finished the rest of support fleet one jump from system, where the main fight took place.
But listening to coms, about titan tackled, than caps going one by one down, starting when you 25 jumps away continuing to the end of the yourney is really painfull

Most alliances don't survive losing all their space...my cov-ops alt spied multiple towers being unanchored by different Hydra corps yesterday...guess they don't share your optimistic assessment!

"Finished" isnt quite the word id choose, they were sat 1 jump away ganking your reinforcements who were blindly jumping in solo BS's. When your main fleet jumped back from MK- in they safed, then jumped through you back into MK-.

If only there was some sign this would have happened. Some indication that Solar/Legion wanted all of the drone regions under their control. This is a very surprising turn of events. The Drone Regions have been very quiet for the past year and a half then all of a sudden this happens! Oh my.

Well, I largely live in Venal and have no real relationship with any NC alliance outside of trade, much like I had with other entities that have come and gone in the region. Posting with one of my toons with a higher amount of SP isn't going to change my point of view.
I try and look at the bigger picture, NC really isn't what I consider an offensive threat. As I have said before, I believe they are just a protectorate with individual alliances still expected to prove their worth, and Hydra isn't the bunny people make them out to be even if they are generally disorganized and don't have great FCs.
I see BoB and Goons as greater threat because both are more expansionists and aggressive. Goons have their own organizational challenges at present but my life when BoB was in the region was a living hell and my life at present is manageable and there are a lot of opportunities for individuals, small corps and smaller alliances in the north that do not wish to be cannon fodder to a mega alliance.
I'm not involved in the war at all but do have a vested interest in the status quo remaining the same like many neutrals in Venal do.
If you were going to attack Hydra with the plan of removing them from space and replacing them then I would say power to you, but you and I both know that is not the agenda.
