Originally by: Veldya Well, I largely live in Venal and have no real relationship with any NC alliance outside of trade, much like I had with other entities that have come and gone in the region. Posting with one of my toons with a higher amount of SP isn't going to change my point of view.
I try and look at the bigger picture, NC really isn't what I consider an offensive threat. As I have said before, I believe they are just a protectorate with individual alliances still expected to prove their worth, and Hydra isn't the bunny people make them out to be even if they are generally disorganized and don't have great FCs.
I see BoB and Goons as greater threat because both are more expansionists and aggressive. Goons have their own organizational challenges at present but my life when BoB was in the region was a living hell and my life at present is manageable and there are a lot of opportunities for individuals, small corps and smaller alliances in the north that do not wish to be cannon fodder to a mega alliance.
I find your definition of the NC as a protectorate to be quite fitting i.e. in their less aggressive stance. That however results in a stagnate game. It is the great upheavals of territorial warfare that makes the 0.0 life. Even the NC entities craves this to some extent, to pick an old example, IRON going to Querious prior to Molle's 'Chow, were stealing your targets' announcement and the kickoff of the thing that should have ended with the NOL feast.

In my days with IRC we had more than one time where a mothership or carriers were tackled and our enemies called in as many as 7 alliances to "gang bang" for cap kills. They weren't there for Sov or POSs, just a chance to get in on a few cap/super cap kills.
I have to believe every one of you would have gone running to get in on a Titan kill.
Confirming this. Call came in that our allies had a hostile titan tackled. A pity it got away.

I will make this bold prediction... Within the next 3 months, the NNC will quite possibly cease to exist.
Between the bobbits taking bites out of them and the hungry (for moons) Russians, they don't stand a chance.
They need to grow some balls and reset RA. It's clear that the "coalition" is dead, it's already turned on alliances that were there "dining in NOL". I even think the Goons will one day face the Russian backstab.

Right now would be the perfect time to knock the "Russian Coalition" back into it's place. If only everyone who bends over backwards to please them (so they go after their moons last) were to band together at least for that.
Won't happen, alliances will get thrown under the bus while others labor under the delusion that "RA/Solar/whatever are our friends!"
The fact that the Russians are taking out IRON's drone territory shows that your reward for fighting hard against BOB when that was what they wanted (instead of moons) earns you no friendship or loyalty. Same will eventually happen to ED/IRC, the two non Russian drone alliances that helped to take down SmashKillFixAtlas. Hell, one of the alliances that helped with that, Ka-Tet has already been eliminated.
Anyone want to start a betting pool on which "ally" the Russian blob consumes next?
TCF? ED? IRC? Goons? (don't laugh, it's an eventual inevitibility)

why to take a station off an alliance that had imploded, would you like you props in this thread, or should i mail them to your home address? we tried in 9iz, but every time we put a tower into reinforced the system would crash, any pos we put into reinforced woudl be out of reinforced but untargetable and any pos that we had repped would be un-repped. After a while we just stopped because the node wouldn't let us do anything.

Hey, you're still in Roadkill and dastommy is in Atlas, guess your alliances are still alive. Chaos has imploded right after we took 9iz and i could care less about there internal problems. They had the station - they have lost it. Also, our hax and sploits are stronger - we won, c ya.

The alliance, that has no will to defend it's own jumpfreighter in it's home system (sov 4, about 40 man i local and 20+ in nearby systems) doesn't deserve to live.
That's my own opinion - it represents my ally opinion in no way.

I really didn't want to reply to this thread, but I just couldn't let this go without adding this...
IRC honors its NAP agreements. If we are napped against someone, we aren't going to inform them when we are on their gates that we switched them to red. We'll give our enemies a decent heads up before we land on their heads.
Thanks,
Graeme

Congratulations on a very nice kill, and the impressive outburst of oral flatulence that accompanied it. We here at the Society take great interest in truly gifted individuals. You are one to watch!
Maybe you are not aware that IRON are in Deklein atm? Word on the street is that some alliances are attacking their space. If you're really, seriously looking for a good fight, you should probably go there.
Please show us all how much will you have, or (according to your killboard) please go back to ganking noobships and shuttles in LXQ2-T. Nothing personal mate, but you're smacking someone pretty hard while they're a lil busy elsewhere. If you're going to invade their space while they're gone, you don't need come on the forums to try and justify it. Most EVE players are fairly smart, they'll see it for what it is.

I agree with you on that point. Just calling out some fairly weak smack from a guy who appears to be younger than the alliance he's smacking. Read his post again, them's pretty strong words IMO.
So you guys never lost an expensive ship? Come on.

I agree that it can lead to a period of less major activity but I don't think it is sustainable for any entity to go from war of attrition to another. I think a bigger cause of stagnation is the sovereignty system combined with cyno jammers, jump bridges and of course DDs.
With everything BoB has brought to the front the progress is really significantly slow. It is not because BoB are incompetent, it is very difficult to make inroad against defenders that dig in, man guns and have a good defensive strategy. BoB hasn't even reached a core system, they are fortunate they are in a region that has only recently been moved into after it was left vacant.
Quote:
It is the great upheavals of territorial warfare that makes the 0.0 life.
I just don't see it as being sustainable. It is very rare to have an honorable loss, in recent times in the north at least you either win or are obliterated. In the past it was a lot easier to recover from catastrophe. The kind of hardware and numbers you need to bring into well defended systems is restricting the level of play to the old school alliances who have the wealth and experience to win wars of attrition.
If anything, the stagnation comes from the bar being set too high in terms of being able to take and hold a plot of space. If it was more doable we would see more smaller alliances encroach on bigger alliance borders. EVE is a chessboard and we are just left with the key pieces. It has evolved to this rather than it being a conscious choice by alliances and it is driven by mechanic changes and new content.
Quote:
Even the NC entities craves this to some extent, to pick an old example, IRON going to Querious prior to Molle's 'Chow, were stealing your targets' announcement and the kickoff of the thing that should have ended with the NOL feast.
Yeah, I think most people prefer smaller scale combat. I can fly caps but I find them boring and most people I have known for a while find them boring. They have their uses. The people I know in the NC always loved having Tri nearby and never made a move against Tri because Tri brought them a constant level of conflict, I think both entities were happy with that and didn't need to obliterate the other's territory to have fun fights.
There are a ton of pirates in NC territory and Venal. I don't think you can log in and not find fights, there is just less in terms of major conflict, largely because the level of play for massive conflict is boring and extremely laggy.
It is why I like Venal, not the most lucrative space but there are still a lot of good PvPers in the region, you have a lot of people in the region who have spent a lot of time there. Current and past NC, Insurgency, Tri and other neutrals. You get a great mix of PvP and PvE. I think conquerable space and what is required to conquer and hold it is what is problematic. CCP could quite easily have imposed some limitations to change the meta game.
Seeing RA just crush alliance after alliance in their newly acquired regions just highlights what happens when people do not work together. The easiest way new players will get into conquerable space is to join one of the power blocs and they just swell with numbers.
If the mechanics were different then NC and others would adapt to fit into the mechanics. Ultimately, CCP has to decide how they want the environment to be. I prefer more chaos to control myself but understand people like stability and security.

I laughed last time I moved a jump clone out of 5ED. I poked around and they didn't even have 50% moon coverage on 5ED or 87-1PM, and what few I saw were unarmed or even offline.
Good riddance.
