Recent events have put Millennium in the particularly difficult situation of having to place ourselves in potential opposition to our friends within the Phoenix Alliance. For this we thank CDI for their actions leading up to the current hostilities with our allies.
As such we are formally declaring war upon the pirates of CDI.
We understand that certain members of the Phoenix Alliance who have been and are allied to us will support CDI by launching an offensive against us and our like-minded allies. On behalf of Millennium, I urge you to dispose of CDI from your membership and join us in talking for peace between our corporations once more. We bear no-ill will to those corporations with the PA who have in the past shown us respect and support, but in this matter we feel we must support our friends in Reikoko, Jericho Fraction, Everlasting Vendetta, IMR and our other UNICOR allies who have shown us tremendous support in recent times.
We deeply regret the need for this stance; if it is to be a fight, lets make it clean. We value allies above all else, especially ships and stations; but in this we cannot remain neutral.

"To the PA; When I retracted my motion to remove CDI from the PA, it was in exchange for CDIs agreement to my terms of sanction. That is how I kept this war from happening 2 weeks ago. If CDI have broken those terms, then the motion for immediate removal needs to procede within the council WITHOUT delay. Halseth isn't around to handle all the conflict and confrontation any more. It is time for someone in the PA council to grow some gonads and embrace the art of confrontation."
i agree..
"But, if this is a PR campaign just to start war with the PA, and CDI is innocent, then this is a just war for the PA. And Godspeed my friends."
I disagree.CDI are NOT innocent- I saw the breaches myself- i even shot at havocide when he was in p3en. Ironiically i was in a gang WITH PA fighting pirates, with RKK at the other gate.
This is a war with a good cause.
I personally fought with pa for the last few weeks. It is with deep regret i have to fight friends.
However Halseth durn himself spells out the problem. I have a lot of respect for him and its a shame hes not present at the moment.
As jade has said "the cancer that is cdi needs to be removed"
If not the war is just.

Edited by: Cadman Weyland on 31/05/2004 22:42:53 Oh bugger. Guess i better put a stash of clean underpants by the pc. Gonna be one of them months.
Seriously it sucks. Im a humble miner, this is my view from the trenches. We are now stuck between 2 groups, both of which contain a number of Millenniums friends because CDI decided to stir up hassle and the PA leadership seem to be unwilling or unable to act against a bad apple whithin their midst.
This has caused much debate and a lot of angst within our corp. With opinions and tempers running very high. I know very little about the politics of it all. All i know is Millennium set out to try and fight the pirates, build ships and generally mine the hell outta places. Looks like we will end up fighting other good corps for because of the sins of one rotten egg.
I gotta feel for the likes of Mankind, Cpt Tinrib and Slothe all of whom have fought alongside the PA a number of times and will now find themselves fighting against them.

But now Artegg is ****ed we have been friends for ages and when a R-K pilot asked if the jump in to p3en was clear a MLM pilot said yes and guess what it was not. I dont know who you mean but mlm declared before this that we were at war.
However please note- after war declaration i was asked by a twb member if p3 was safe and said it wasnt. This pilot (simcor)was saved. He then proceeded to say how much pa "owned" our alliance. Maybe we saved the wrong one ;)
Pa still have our respect. However the respect is lost because of cdis actions. Nothing else.

My respect to Millenium corporation for taking this principled stand against the dishonourable actions of CDI and the Phoenix Alliance. In this time of shifting loyalties voiced by the mealy-mouthed politicians of RONA and Oberon and their PA lackies, it is a relief to smell the fresh scent of idealism and valour blowing through the northern regions of the Eve Star cluster.
When honest men stand up to be counted in a just cause then the universe stands up to take notice.
A new hope is rising in the north and the corrupt ideology of CDI and allies may at last be coming to an end.

Its beyond me, how you or Jade or RKK can demand whom we should choose as an ally...but
if its entertaining for Jade to fill pages after pages with "omg, omg I saw a pilot!! Call to arms brothers and sisters blablabla the world is coming to an end..."
Just do it. Depending on the mood I am in, the lack of resemblance to anything ingame can be amusing or frustrating
oh and somebody you are war with and shooting you down is not a pirate..last time I checked CE is in fact dedicating most of its ingame time fighting pirats, but we are far from "holy" like your new friends.

because it its fun! You have a decent kill-list yourself - not that most of the alts posting here couldnt top that by simply pressing selfdestruct, but quite some frigs died by your hands.
couldnt you simple say what you want?
like "I wannbe the beloved princess of the north again" or something??
because you surely dont want to insult the mental capacities of so many grown ups by telling the absolute shocking story over and over, do you?
I have seen ships in space where I dont like them to be before!
blow them up, its allowed in 0.0

Its quite ironic how the endless wars and political strife have changed me actually; for once upon a time I was a peaceful trader more at home in my bestower class industrial ship than I was in a vessel of war. And I came to Venal in 0.0 with hopes of forging profitable trade runs and bringing a little wealth and industry to the north. How long ago that all seems? How many tyrants I have clashed with? How many treacherous corporations and cowardly dogs have turned from idealistic ally to deadly cynical foe?
I had my first pvp experiences in Venal, losing ships to Evolution, to various Fountain allies, to Cult of Cthulhu even I believe. I was a totally unskilled blackbird pilot and novice battleship jockey and yet still I fought Taggart and M3G4 and joined the war-gangs and did my best. My earliest experiences of death and podding and victory and killing are recorded on these forums, and Venal and Pureblind are where these things happened.
But I think, looking back, it was the Ragnar bounty on my head that targeted me for every criminal in Eve last summer that convinced me this was never going to be a quiet life. My participation in the NVA was in part a struggle to reclaim the innocence of the early days, and I hoped that by driving out the villains and murderers who leagued to RagnarÆs banner we might achieve it. But I think though we won, we ultimately lost, because the lure of mineral greed and violent territorial control drove once-honourable men to depths of tyrannical insanity.
While we were fighting Biomass as part of the NVA Jericho Fraction was a pretty small corp, perhaps a dozen active pilots total û and generally only about 4-5 who actively and regularly fought with the NVA defence forces in the north. (Though more of course thought with RKK and the southern corps in the south). The thing is that we certainly pulled out weight in terms of corp size and we always punched above our weight in engagements, in alliance funding, in administrative support, and in political representation. And we were fighting in Venal for the NVA before almost the entire current crop of PA yahoos had even dreamed of leaving the cradle of empire space.
Hence itÆs always difficult for us to hear the lies and carping falsehoods of these callow johnny-come-lately wastrels who think they conquered Venal from chaos, and they defeated Taggart Transpiratical, and they forged the first truly revolutionary Eve alliance.
So much time has past, so much blood spilled in the vacuum of space. So much history and mythology and glory and sacrifice for the causes of the north. And now the young bloods of the Phoenix Alliance ask why the universe of Eve should listen to the words of Jericho Fraction, should be persuaded by the justice of the Reikoku cause? Should consider Evolution anything other than pirates and terrorists?
Young fools like Reassor cough out imprecations and his comrades ask ôhow can Jade and Jericho and Galavet and DB and Reikokuö persuade so many to take our cause and make the aim the freeing of the north from Phoenix sway?
Well, the answer is that we were there when Taggart fell, we bought that victory with our blood and courage and we were there first. We fought with honour, we treated with honour, and we strove with honour to build a new politics of freespace and hope to free a region from tyranny and darkness.
Yes we failed, but it was a glorious failure that left us hungry yet to try again.
And while we live the story will never die, and while the story lives its words entice the hearts and hope and idealistic dreams of valorous men. In the Phoenix Alliance you live lives of ash and sawdust, bland and tasteless, for you the isk has ceased to glitter and the stars are far diminished.
Yet to we who write the stories of the future no adversity is too harsh, no odds insurmountable, no cause or foe beyond our reach.
You of the PA asked why we jumped to certain death last night on VenalÆs borders?
You laugh, you boast, you make scornful jest.
But still in your heart of hearts the nagging question ôwhy?ö
ItÆs no secret though, and those who hear the story told in bold refrain know well, that death is nothing and material destruction lesser yet, for there is one coin that greed and evil can never take.
Legend.
The right to write the stories of our time.

Many times politics in Eve are very complicated. Considering the fact that a large majority of pilots are not very interested in politics, and even to a lesser extend do they stay on top of such subjects, it is no wonder that the forum often fills with flames and accusations and general bad vibes.
This particular time is different however. This time it is very simple. This is a very peculiar crisis in Eve, or at least I have never witnessed one like this.
What makes it different is the fact that both parties agree on pretty much everything. In case of the people that are in the best position to know within PA they agree completely with the enemy. I point my finger to the clarification written in this forum by Halseth, that verifies 100% what the enemies of PA are saying.
Yet, there are pilots that continue to twist around a simple subject where there is no room to do that. Apart from the amusement value, there is little use for it. And once they time after time have been shown to be in the wrong they say something along the lines of: I don't care about politics, anyway. Keep it in space.
So why say anything at all in the first place? Why not just stay in space?
The situation is very simple, and not disputed on either side by those who know it. The facts that are agreed on:
1. There was a disagreement, and then there was war. 2. The war was halted with a ceasefire with certain terms that have been widely quoted. PA can refer to Halseth's post, since they won't believe anything else, it seems. 3. The terms of the ceasefire were broken by CDI of PA. This has been admitted. 4. The war resumed. 5. Some allies of RKK, including JF, put ultimatums on PA: Enforce the terms of the ceasefire or we are forced to declare war on you. 6. Ultimatums have passed and war is upon us as PA failed to reach the demands placed in the ceasefire agreement by their own negotiators as much as the other party.
It is important to understand that booting of CDI is a part of the ceasefire agreement. It is not something that the enemies of PA are demanding, but it is something that PA agreed to instead. If this is unreasonable, as has been said by many members of the PA, it should never have been agreed in the first place.
It is totally out of place to accuse the enemies of PA, let alone individuals of the demands that were put into the ceasefire agreement. Those terms were agreed upon by PA every bit as much as the other party did. This simple but the most important fact seems to be completely lost on some of the most vocal people in this discussion.
The meaning of the ceasefire agreement was never to boot CDI, it was to convince the other party that PA would clean it's own house and keep it in order. As a reassurance they made very simple promises:
1. If CDI breaks the terms, they will be booted. 1b. And to convince the other party that PA was serious, the people negotiating for PA made a promise to take their very influental own corporations out of PA in case point 1. somehow fell through.
Facts are straight and simple. The logic that is needed to analyze the situation is not complicated.
And here we finally arrive to the quote of Fuffel above. Blowing up stuff which is taken place. One should not forget that the purpose of a ceasefire agreement is to prevent such things. Trying to salvage such an agreement must be done first, if that fails blowing up stuff follows. And it did.
How have we managed to discuss page after page after page about the details on how the blowing up stuff came to be is not amazing at all, actually. One needs to only see the posts made about the matter to witness that it is but a handful of people that are in complete denial trying to talk black into white going in a circle.
"It wasn't our fault, ok it was but it doesn't matter, keep it in space politics suck anyway. It wasn't our fault... " And repeat that for 40 pages.

Take a moment, have a seat, grab a coffee, don't just type a reflex response. Really think about this. How many people in Eve have achieved the typical success levels in this game? Ships, kit, a billion isk, full implants, comfortable mining locations, hanger full of tat.
100? 1000? Who knows?
But who will be remembered a year from now?
Who will we talking about over drinks down the pub with involved friends? Who will get written about? Who will inspire fiction and player-led interaction?
Whose name will be immortal KIAEddZ?
Who are the heroes? Who are the villains? What was their story? What was their legend?
At the end of the day in a single shard game of this scope ... thats all that matters to me.

Legends draw both praise and scorn.
You are just adding to Jericho's legend every time you flame.

Well having a just cause is certainly a good start ;) I don't know what came over me earlier ... I think it was looking out at a gloomy london skyline and day-dreaming of starships. Ultimately I think none of us have grown up!

The heroes are all the nameless soldiers who fight and die for their friends and their home.
Those who will be remembered are those who talked the most and acchived less.

"actual history" and "the truth" are about as factually correct as every other flaming post on these boards anyways.
There is no truth in history, history is usually written in a one-sided manner which is not grasping the multi-faceted things going on (not just 2 but many sides).
