Mixed Metaphor Official Press Release Odamia, Placid
As of 13:00 hours EVE time today, Mixed Metaphor corporation, in co-operation with the Federal Defence Union, announces the recapture of the Odamia system for the Gallente Federation and the success of MXD's Operation Padlock.
Operation Padlock began on Monday, with the express goal of resecuring military control of Odamia for the Federation. Given the difficulty faced in retaking the system before now, Mixed Metaphor took it upon ourselves to resecure the system, and engaged in an intensive strategy of securing non-threatened Gallente tactical areas to reinforce Gallente Navy presence in the region, forcing the Caldari Navy to reveal more of its military strongholds in Odamia to compensate.
Having worked on this for two days, we expected this goal to take upwards of a week. We were thus taken by surprise when today our pilot Dreadchain reported that, after having taken a minor complex, the system control bunker spontaneously became unable to maintain reinforced mode. Two battleship pilots from outside MXD, Gabriel Karade and Carlos Jaeger, were nearby at the time and provided assistance to seige the bunker. The bunker was broken in record time and the Federation Navy was able to drive the Caldari presence out of the system.
I would like to extend my personal thanks to the battleship pilots who answered our call for assistance so quickly, and the pilots in my corporation who slaved for two days throughout the Serthoulde constellation to make this possible.
And finally, I have a message from the Caldari Militia. This is a message to every pilot in the State Protectorate. Pilots of the Protectorate, I do not resent your way of life. I do not support those who would try to reconquer the State and reintegrate it into the Federation. No, I have more respect for you than that. But allow me to say this. If you set foot in the Federation with the intention of taking its systems from us, you are coming here to die. The Federation is not a nation of weak, pampered nobodies, and the Federal Defence Union are not ham-fisted incompetents.
We will fight you and the machinations of the corrupt tyrant Heth to our very last breath. If you come seeking to take from us, you will bleed a gallon for every inch of space you take. If you come seeking war, you will find it. Mixed Metaphor and the Federal Defence Union will fight you for as long as you continue to present yourselves. We will not surrender. We will not capitulate. We will defend our homes. -----

Congratulations to all pilots who have sacrificed in order to restore this star system to the Federation. It was a pleasure working with Mixed Metaphor during the final siege.
Tibus Heth, your days are numbered. You're not nearly as invincible as you'd like to think. Let your people think long and hard as CalNav is turned away at every engagement... when your policies fail to bring about reform.
There shall be justice for the crimes you've committed.

General incompetence? That hasn't been displayed by the Gallente militia. It has however, been displayed in vast amounts by the Amarr in the stolid pigheaded refusal to adapt to changing times and battlefields.
not to mention that the Gallente militia still have a far higher confirmed kill rate and lost two systems and reclaimed one. While the Amarr Militia have lost eight systems and reclaimed one. And have so far shown an atrocious lack of skill and organization. -----

Edited by: Dex Nederland on 06/08/2008 17:46:51 Congratulations on securing a system. (Securing is a neutral word for it correct?)
Originally by: "Andreus Ixiris" Having worked on this for two days, we expected this goal to take upwards of a week.
I believe this has to do with the Caldari Navy (I assume it is the Navy next to me when I secure installations and outpost in Caldari space) having only two systems to occupy in the entire region. I would not be surprised to see counter-offensive campaigns (like yours, which is different from a purely defensive campaign) meet with regular success in a very short period of time as objectives are generally concentrated.
The 24th Crusade success in a counter-offensive will likely be slower because they have more systems that the Minmatar Republic's naval forces are spread out in their occupation.
This is intended as an observation on the system of warfare in which we are operating.

Well I'm perfectly happy with its use, although you might find some ultrapatriot morons who might object and instead want to use the phrase "gloriously reclaiming". Technically it's "resecure", since the Caldari State occupied the system previously, but I'm not going to split hairs.

Covryn is, I will freely admit, more of a problem, because those ne'er-do-wells in Quam Singulari are guarding it. However, let it never be said that I shy away from a challenge.

This, I believe, is more due to the lack of competent manpower in the Amarr militia, the constant infighting and feuding between rival Holders and the general antiquated nature of Amarrian equipment, tactics and motivational literature than to the focus (or lack thereof) of Republican naval assets. I'm not saying that it isn't a factor, it's just that it's not something a fighting force as supposedly dedicated, competent and divinely blessed as the Amarr claim to be shouldn't be able to overcome. -----

Check the news, you dopey moron. The Caldari State has had control of your beloved home planet for almost two months now. If you're still crying for blood after you've got it back, the moral highground you claim seems to rapidly dwindle into a deep quagmire at the bottom of a canyon.

The endless rage of the Caldari fighter? I can believe that - you seem to be a prime example. The endless fighting ability, however...

Seriously pilot Ehr, quiet yourself and gain a better understanding of cluster politics. You do a discredit to your family, your corporation, and your race; rambling on about things that do not exist. No peace terms have been offered by anyone; the State and Federation Navies aren't even shooting at each other. If you are concerned about continued resistance on the ground of Caldari Prime from Federal occupation forces, go there! I am certain the Provist on the ground could use another body.

Originally by: Victoria Ehr Until the last Gallente resistance on our planet has been squashed the only news is that of continued war. Until the Gallente submit to peace on our terms, the only news will be of war.
A war which you're no longer winning. Need I remind you that it was your Navy that illegaly invaded our sovreign territory, invaded one of our planets and threatened to blow up our home planet, after which we hastily signed over Caldari Prime in a peace agreement to make that psychotic, amoral thug you call a leader stop waving his Titan at Gallente Prime. You then proceeded to bomb the cities of innocent civilians (of both Caldari and Gallente origin) on Caldari Prime (the exact same crime you lambast the Federation for) and then jam communications and halt all traffic to and from the planet, so that we can neither tell our soldiers to stop fighting nor extract them.
The moral valley-with-a-quagmire-at-the-bottom is rapidly subsiding into a moral chasm. Your greed and lack of restraint has caused you to break international law and seize your beloved home planet, but even now that you've got it it's still not enough.
This is why I fight - because what the Caldari State intends to do goes far beyond just reclaiming their homeworld. Some of you, like Stitcher, would probably even have been content just having control of the planet without a military presence, but are content just to have access to your homeworld. But people like you won't stop until every Gallentean lies dead. You'll keep pushing - even if we managed to take all our troops off Caldari Prime that still wouldn't be enough for you - you'll keep finding excuses to justify continuing the war - not to anyone else, but to yourself.
You won't stop until you control everything, because quite unlike the Caldari ideal you're amoral, pitiless, restraintlessly greedy, cruel, devoid of human sympathy and loyal to no-one but yourself.

I wouldn't quite go that far. Military presence is a necessity for the security of any home territory, especially when you only just barged in and reclaimed it. It deters piracy, keeps the peace and means that there's always a force of highly-trained men and women on standby for any emergencies that may arise, like natural disaster. Previously, those duties fell within the jurisdiction of the Federation Navy, but of course, that planet and the space around it are State space now, so the jurisdiction's shifted as ell
Every system in the State has a Caldari Navy presence, and in my opinion the Caldari Prime system should have one as well.

Well, I meant in a scenario where there was no other real way to gain access to Caldari Prime, if the Federation offered the State political control of the planet without allowance for a standing military force, you'd still have taken it rather than nothing, right?
Well, it's really a non-issue - we've already established that you're a moderate and reasonable example of the Caldari (which many Gallente conveniently ignore, and I am glad to say I am not one of them), whereas Victoria Ehr is a frothing lunatic like I used to be. -----

Probably, but of course the megacorps would then do their damnedest to figure out a loophole... like, say, installing megacorporate security divisions such as Home Guard instead of the military proper. Considering the former are similarly equipped and usually better trained, it wouldn't be much of a sacrifice...

Edited by: Aria Jenneth on 07/08/2008 07:50:22 Based on the overall war statistics over the last couple of weeks, I was wondering how long it would take for us to see an event of this sort.
Nicely done. However, crowing about an overall victory soon to come is distinctly premature. The last war between the State and Federation lasted for close to a century, and this one is likely to last equally long.
As a note, I wouldn't be basing too many hopes on Citizen Heth leaving power. It's not that he won't: his position is precarious, and he's likely to find himself demoted to mere CEO status (at best) at first opportunity. No, it's that the State and Federation are now at war, and it's going to take more than a reversion of power to the megacorporations to bring that to a halt.
I've been spending a good deal of time on a Liberal security force station, lately, and the general "feel" there is, for the Liberals, uncharacteristically hungry. These are the most outward looking, the most eager for trade and most opposed to war of all State factions, and yet the war has hardly driven them to denouncing the State's direction. Quite the opposite. After all, even they were raised on the old stories-- Tovil-Toba, the Raata Empire, blood and glory. The sense I get is that, having tasted that blood, they're finding they have an appetite for it.
It's going to take some doing to deromanticize this war.
In the meantime, you're all in the crucible, and the flame is flaring its glee. If it was the Gallente turn, first, to suffer beneath the enemy's numerical superiority, well, perhaps it's time the Caldari learned a lasting lesson or six. From what I've been hearing, organization would be a start.
Do please teach them well.

Thank you for your support, Ms. Jenneth, but I do feel bound to point out I realise this is only a small battle in a very large war. But we don't get to pick our victories, only our fights, and I'll take what victories we can get.
