Unless I am missing something I cannot find any skill that will reduce CPU fitting requirements for mining lasers. I can find skills to reduce the fitting requirements for most other turrets, launchers, and mods, but not for one of the most basic and important activities in Eve: mining. Can someone explain this? If no such skill exists I think we should lobby CCP to put one in.

someone mentioned to me that the Weapon Upgrades skill has an effect on the CPU for miners. but i never checked it out...
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

There is no CPU skill linked directly with the miners beams.
Raising Electronics and equipping some co-processors should resolve the problem ---------------------------------------- La mort nous sourit Ó tous. Tout ce que l'on peut faire, c'est sourire Ó la mort. |

Maybe at one time, but then they fixed it that only WEAPONS got that bonus.
As for a skill to reduce the CPU on mining lasers....nah. Like previously mentioned....toss some co-proc on and you'll be fine.

I thought Electronics skill improves CPU use by 5% per level? Surely that applies to miners?

Edited by: Hellek on 01/06/2004 20:05:25 Yes, Electronics is a very helpful skill and should be trained to level 5 as soon as possible. Its not only nice for miners but also for all other setups.
It increases the CPU output of the ship though, and does not decrease the CPU of the mining lasers, so it is not what the author of the topic is asking for.

High electronics + CPU's is the best way of making it. Even on an apoc only need 4 CPU's to be fully outfitted (other ships use less).

Is co-processors the only way to go? Is it the only option?
Thnx Noz

A full set of power diags for the low slots should work as well. Adds to cap and shield as well. They are cheap and can be bought for nowt (20kish). Good electronics skills are needed for this one however.

power diags don't add to CPU
