Edited by: Splagada on 07/08/2008 11:12:09 some of those games are now very outdated, graphics being horrible and gameplay sucking. However, those were absolutely fantastic for you when they were out.
Of all time, i think the most fun i had in a game was
1-Battlezone I (the 3D version) (not the wireframe arcade) You could pack your entire base and move on, produce, get minerals from shooting people, even snipe the pilots to take their ships, leave your ship to continue by foot etc
The storyline (man is already on the moon in the early 60's, russia vs US with a 3d party coming at the end) was really solid, the gameplay was awesome, the interface was great, the multiplayer fantastic (once it was finally fixed).
2. Diablo click and kill. dude i played for 8 hours! i have to go! and "pinnng" the little ring sound comes up, 'OHSHI-" and here you go again for hours.
3. Civilization I a bit too easy once you got the ropes, but the full day games were fun :p
4. I-War very underrated game imo. A full CD for intro, with awesome video footage. flying in a spaceship very much Nyx-like, with the crew. really required piloting skills as your large ship inertia made all the interest. if only eve had the same physical model...
5. Homeworld you all know it. flying in a naglfar-kind of mothership. controlling drones in eve reminds me a lot about this game :p
Well that's it for me :D ------

In order of oldest to newest since that is the natural progression for me.
EDIT: I am ashamed to say that WOW could have been in the top 5, but I stayed there for to long. The first few weeks in WoW were crazy...I actually felt like I was falling when I fell/jumped off of a cliff edge.

X-wing series (I see it as one entity, really) Fallout * Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries Homeworld Half-life 1
* I played this for the first time just two months ago... weird part is: I was in my late teens when it was released.. why did I wait so long?

- EVE Online - I mean really, most of us have been playing this longer than any game. 'nuff said
- Command and Conquer - Was the first true RTS for the PC. But anyone in the know knows that Herzog Zwei from the first Sega Genesis was the first RTS
- X-Wing and Tie Fighter - Seriously, most who played this back in '93-94 know that these were probably the most fun space sim games ever made. If they were to release these with todays graphics......zomg
- Half Life - This game was a major breakthrough in it's day and has spawned countless mods. Day of Defeat, Counter Strike....not to mention HL2.
- Battlefield 1942 - Never have I had so much fun playing a fps/flight/vehicle sim. BF2 as great as well. The Midway map stands out as one of the best maps of any game I have played on.

Edited by: Elliot Reid on 07/08/2008 12:05:08 Excluding EVE and in no particular order
Donkey Kong - In the arcades and also when I had a Dragon 32 many many moons ago
Elite - A given considering the game we all play
Quake - I remember a lot of brown textures and then I popped to PC World (please forgive me) and bought a Voodoo 3DFX card and the difference was stunning. It's really hard to explain how big a leap this was considering what us older gamers have played and what younger people take for granted.
Infocom adventure games - Text only but so deviously clever and a lot of fun. I couldn't imagine a commercial text only game nowadays.
DAoC - My first MMO and one I shall always remember fondly as it had the best overal PvP I have ever played. Yes I prefered being a BH killing Jedi in SWG and I do love a good Cap fight in EVE, but for sheer wellimplementedness (new word soon to be in the OED) RvR in DAoC was great.

I am really looking forward to OFP2. Saw some of the videos on gametrailers and it's looks very sweet indeed. I loved OFP a lot but the only reason why I never really got into more was because of the GUI. It was very counter intuitive to me. But the rest of it was great.

Oh yeah i had lots of fun with that. I never got the hang of making a whole level and playing it. I used to have tons of fun downloading mods and vehicles etc. and creating these huge fights with everything (Usually on desert island map) Tons of soldiers, tanks, helicopters etc, pure carnage. (Great to watch and snipe stray victims )

1 - Mech Warrior 4 et al
Best online community ever, best strategy based game ever, best PVP ever and best fun playing.
2 - EvE Online
Its like a MMO, for growned ups.
3 - WoW
I should suffer agony for this, but the game is very well put togeather and there are some challenges (other than making sure your huntard has enough ammo, food, pots, bandages, etc)
4 - Railroad Tycoon
Love this game to bits >_< nothing like creating a fully flowing rail network.
5 - Homeworld 2
Yay!

Oldest to newest
1. Star Wars X-Wing Fighter - Waaay back in the day when you had to know how to work DOS. Never mind if it was in the star wars universe that early joystick combat sim was just plain awsome!
2. Lemmings - Ecrack
3. Freespace 1 and 2 - In my opinion its still the best space combat sim, god I wish the company didnt go bust.
4. Elder Scrolls 3 and 4 - I didnt get into this before 3 but it was still fun, and even more so because of the mod community.
5. EvE Online - In a little over a year ive logged more hours on this game than any other game ive played so something must be happening here. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

2. Half Life - ive never put the cheats in faster than any game, just to kill the scientists in the begining countless times and cry laughing doing it.
3. System Shock 2 - frankly the most bone chilling game ive ever played and the most engrossing. Me and my dad used to play this together with him reading me the walkthrough... father son bonding game heh
4. Half life, Firearms mod: Was number 1 in the UK for awhile with this online mod
5. Mech Commander - Sweetz0rs and first online game i ever played. PPC 4tw!
-----
Ive 10 so il mention these too!
6. Half life 2 - again best fps this side of the millenium.
7. Total Annilation, must have sunk weeks worth of game time into this when i first had it.
8. C&C Original, first played it on the Sega Saturn, was cool. Obelisks 4tw! :D
9. Legend of Zelda - Link to the past, best SNES game i ever played.
10. This is a toughy, but its a cross between Manic Miner and Cannon Fodder, just games i watched my dad play when i was a kid.

1. The Cloudless Haberdashery of Edified Horsemanship (post patch 1.42 that is, before that it's way too bugged and unbalanced)
2. Hydrophone Oscillatory Groundnut 1 (parts 2 and 3 really sucked though, they truly lost the plot there)
3. Muskellunge: Patronymic Bloated Wainscots (absolutely brilliant, after 12 years of hardcore playing, I still don't seem to tire of it)
4. The Wonderment of the Runty Palindrome IV (a close contender was part VII, but I'm going with part IV because I love how hoggish the epicycloids are in this one)
5. Disharmonious Parallax, Encrusted Protraction (a seminal release that inspired countless of other games, and single-handedly spawned a whole new subgenre of pashm judicature)

Wow, I thought I was the only person on the planet that would put Battlezone as the top game of all time.
1. Battlezone - Just amazing in every element for it's time. The story to me was very original and was introduced while playing in a very realistic fashion. Great graphics and immersion. Absolutely amazing soundtrack. Great combination of FPS and strategy. Hands down the best game ever imo. Way ahead of it's time.
2. Quake - Just a step up in FPS's at the time. Blew my mind away.
3. Virtual Fighter II - The whole series is great but I had the most fun with 2 in particular.
4. Rampart - Probably the most timeless gameplay of all time.
5. Dune II - The 1st of one of my favorite genres of video games. All props to westwood, not much changed in the RTS world till Total Annihilation, and most RTS still follow the Dune II formula.

Could probably think of a few more and that's before even considering consoles.

This is difficult for me because I've played so many great ones. From oldest to newest:
Space Quest: The Sarien Encounter - It was a tossup between this and earlier games like Hunt for Red October and Ace of Aces and all the other games I played on Apple II. I picked this one because I still remember my friend and I spending hours on his Tandy trying to figure out how to get out of the space ship.
Diablo: This was the first game I played Online and my entry into the Online world. For that reason I had to pick it. Also the first time I had heard about a guild and managed a rather successful one{PK-M} then created {M-M}. Doom and Wolfenstin might fit here but Diablo was much more influential to me. Ultima Online: Moved {M-M} Over to Ultima Online Atlantic server. Played for a few years guild disbanded because my boat with guild stone sank whilst on vacation. Ended up on Europa RPing with the Guardsmen of Yew.
Star Wars Galaxies: Probably still one of my favorite MMOs. However lost interest in it when the developers abandoned reason and logic and turned it into World of Warcraft clone. Founded Space PvP (Character Admiral: Gwreng Masnachwr) on Starsider which was then modeled to a number of different servers. Still probably the best MMO, for crafting, exploring, expanse, and setting. I've always enjoyed Star Wars, and any other Star Wars game could really fit here.
EVE Online: I would say that this is probably the best MMO on the market at the moment. I think it does a good job of balancing complexity, as well as creating a rich environment for the players to explore. Whilst I am not into PvP this game harkens back to the early days of Ultima Online to me, where there was some risk in travelling, and the potential to lose a lot of expensive stuff and the great reward you got when you either bested or escaped your attackers. I had thought about putting Tabula Rasa here simply because it had a pretty big impact on me in terms of playing MMOs. Not for the good mind you, reminded me too much of a weak version of World of Warcraft, and really put me off creating a guild or clan in any other MMO I might play in the future.

Ultima VII I can't believe that nobody has mentioned this yet. This was the first game I properly 'owned' on a PC, way back in 1992, on a 386sx with 4MB ram. The depth was amazing, you actually had a sense of scale when traveling, and it was so easy to get into a sub-plot (which actually helped the main plot, and wasn't some weird afterthought).
Diablo II Probably the first multiplayer game I lost a lot of hours to. Me and my friends spending hours over Battle.net, trawling through dungeons and getting all the items (way before cheating/hacking was cool).
Homeworld The first game that brought me close to tears. The whole Adagio for Strings at the intro, and the drawn intro.
Ultime Online (though specifically pre-2000, Trammel/Felucca) My frist MMOG, a lot of my RL friends played it, and I lose a good few years of my life to this game :)

1. X-Com -first ever game that made me crap my 6yrold pants. Holds the distinctive honor of still being on my hard disk after all these years
2. Privateer (and to a lesser extent, I-War II and the X series) -no game offers the same freedom as this. Holds the honor of having been on my hard disk frequently (all three games)
3. Battlezone 1 and 2 -True "battlefield" capability, be an RTS commander and a grunt at the same time! Sniping in multiplayer never felt so satisfying. Still have my disks of this game
4. Homeworld -True 3d RTS, epic story
5. Mechwarrior 4 et al -Mech combat. Who cant resist a 100ton behemoth of a walking tank laying down hellfire? -

It's great reading the games ya'll post, and then trying to imagine your age:
EVE: - Who'da thought there'd be a sandbox in space? C&C:TD: - That's right. Tiberian Dawn. I loved that the units were all based on real things. World in Conflict gets an honorable mention here because of that similar realistic feel. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six & Eagle Watch: The first FPS I ever played. NATO v2.01 FTW. America's Army gets an honorable mention because of it's authentic realism - not COD4 realism. Boo - COD4 isn't realistic at all. Dishonorable mention. Fable: - Not only was playing fun, I could actually spend hours just watching someone else play. Graphics were just that good, things just flowed so smooth. Hope Fable 2 is more Sandboxy... WoW: plz don't kill me - It was definately immersive, but by LvL 40 it got too repetative. At level 52 I quit. Yes, I gave away my stuff.

Wow, great to see some people with taste in this thread, what with SystemShock, IL2, and some others being mentioned.
5 is a really short list, and just how do you compare an RTS with an rpg, for example?
Well, off the top of my head:
1. System Shock 2 2. Planescape: Torment 3. IL2 4. GTR2/GTL 5. Hearts of Iron
That's the top game for their respective category, in my opinion. But I could just as well list top 5 Strategy/RTS games, or top 5 FPS games.
A year or so ago I gave a "top games" list some thought, and came up with categories like Tactical FPS, FPS/RPG, RPG, etc. And I still felt I had to list "honorable mentions" alonside the "winner" in each category. There's just so many great games I've played over the years.

Edited by: Antodias on 07/08/2008 23:17:27 I'm not gonna put EVE on since it's not like other games, not gonna rank them either cause I like them all for different reasons:
Rome: Total War - The finest example of the series IMO. Okay, so the non Roman factions were a bit lacklustre and the battle engine wasn't the best, but Rome just feels like it has more character than Medieval II, and was much more revolutionary.
Warcraft 3 - One of the most fun online strategy games that's had be addicted for god knows how many years now, it also had one of the best single player stories of the strategy genre. But damn you Blizzard for making WoW and scuppering my hopes of Warcraft 4. :/
Morrowind - Excellent story driven RPG which gave you endless choices. Far more atmospheric than Oblivion, and really sucked you in. The vast modding community have made this game even better.
Ye Olde LucasArts games - Day of the Tenctacle specifically, pure awesome, don't make games like this anymore. :V
Final Fantasy series - Don't care how cliched the plot is, or how weird they all get on the end, each one of these that I've played (with the exception of the latest one) have drawn me in and not let me out again.
That's probably the 5 games I like the most, other ones I'd mention are Dawn of War, Hostile Waters, Sacrifice (get this if you don't have it), Psychonauts (same as before), Portal and Vampire Bloodlines.

UFO: Enemy Unknown / X-Com TFTD / Apoc Gave me nightmares when I was younger, probably played it more than any other game over the years, had a laptop specially for it which I would take with me to work, I used to use lightning's a lot.
Freespace 1 & 2 Most atmoshperic game(s) ever, way ahead of its time, great story and great looking game(s) even their intro's were amazing, the erinyes was like a 8 gun vaga, and the medusa was pwnage
Master of Orion II An absolutely epic space game, games could last days, and it was great fun in the massive battles
Fallout 1, 2 and tactics hella atmospheric back in the day, I still remember my first time playing fallout and getting a 9mm smg and going to town on some rats in vault 15, was the coolest thing ever, also fallout tactics was great fun, incendiary grenade lobbing deathclaws always had comic results
Civilization I played them all to death, from I to IV and all are such great games.

Homeworld 2 - Best Space Strategy ever? the Baldurs Gate "saga" Descent II - in terms of shear entertainment, it was a blast Doom II - First game I ever bought, $50 new, back when they still made fullsize boxes, I wish I still had it. Galactic Civilizations II - god, I spent more time with this game then I care to admit.

Oh man I feel so guilty not putting Rome on my list now. I love playing as Greece and Carthage personally; they were the only other really well fleshed out factions other than the Roman houses, SPQR and Gaul.
I had such a good time attacking Rome with elite Carthaginian fighting forces with a few elephants in tow. Utter pwn.

2/NeverWinter Nights This game was like crack,I once played a 21 hour session eating only snacks and drinking Jack Daniels. The player built realms were awesome and allowed us to be as creative as we wanted.
3/Entropia Universe Not really a game but still a great way to waste time,Met some great people on calypso had a blast on minning runs and hunting trips.took a year before i started to profit from the game.Looking forward to the full implementation of cry2. This game would merge beautifully with eve.
4/Grand Theft Auto Vice city loved this game for it music.Haven't tried gta4 yet.

Kind of a rarity in the FPS genre what with the mature and considered approach to violence. Odd given how much violence FPS games feature. Any shooter where you're trying not to shoot the bad guys deserves some kind of mention. The AI also ****es on just about every other game in the genre from great height.

Hard to put in order and limit to 5 .. so WALL OF TEXT off the top of my head: Baldur's Gate II, Tie Fighter, Elite II, Colonization (and Civ), Dungeon Keeper, Transport Tycoon. And last (fakeedit: not... really) but not least Quake 2 - nothing was as much fun as a good match of nighthunters on a small 1-room LAN or a lithium/battleground slugfest on a big one.
Could probably add most of the Infinity engine and Troika RPGs and all the great adventures of olden days, like DOTT, all the Indies, Monkey Islands, Sam&Max...
Also, Homeworld, and because Galk mentioned Shiny I just have to add MDK (Sacrifice was excellent too).

Edited by: Syrus666 on 10/08/2008 00:34:28 Final Fantasy VII - Epic childhood memories. I defeated all the weapons, bred gold chocobos, completed everything you could. XCOM : Enemy Unknown - Best strategy game ever made. Counter Strike - Played from the first beta, 3.0 being the best IMO. I don't play anymore, but have so many fond memories... (On severs such as BamBam) - Removing the killboard was great until the whiners got involved. C&C Red Alert - Stupidly fun, fast paced & never gets old. SW : Knights Of The Old Republic - I completely ignored it until a mate lent it me ( cheers Celador :D ) - but it grips u in such a way u just can't put it down.
Honourable mention I :: EVE - For simply the amount of time and love I've invested in this game. The people I play with and know are what make it truely an experience which is unrivalled. It competes for the number one slot, but it needs 3-5 years after i stop playing before it gets the nostalgia effect to push it into my top 5 :D
Honourable Mention II : Resident Evil - Again; childhood memories.

pashm: /ˈpʌʃəm/ [puhsh-uhm] ûnoun the fine woolly underhair of goats raised in northern India. ju+di+ca+ture: /ˈdʒudɪˌkeɪtʃər, -kəˌtʃʊər/ [joo-di-key-cher, -kuh-choor] ûnoun 1. the administration of justice, as by judges or courts. 2. the office, function, or authority of a judge. 3. the jurisdiction of a judge or court. 4. a body of judges. 5. the power of administering justice by legal trial and determination.

Edited by: soldieroffortune 258 on 10/08/2008 18:12:01 hmm, ok, favorite games, dont have many
EVE Online (probably my all time favorite game)
Legend Of Dragoon (i love that game, for the Playstation, 4 discs, good story line made that game GREAT)
I like Civilization 4, had a few fun World Wars in it
Empire Earth 1 (ONE) (The first one): loved that game as well, had a pretty simple scenario editor, loved the real time fighting, althought i reall wish they didnt have a character limit (1200 divided between 4 players is kinda eh. . . ) other than that though, i really liked the game, again, if there was a MUCH larger Character limit, and if htey had bigger map sizes, wouldve made the game a ton funner
Metal Gear Solid 3 (liked that game as well, you could be stealthy, and go rambo syle through it, and good storyline)
EDIT: that is 5 games, lol

Not 5 sorry, just some random recollections.
Early stuff
Elite (and Frontier). Speedball 2 (Damn this game was so addictive in multiplayer) Formula one GP (Multiplayer time again - first decent multiplayer driver sim at the time) Syndicate Mechwarrior 2 (I soooo badly wanted a film version based on this game.) Civilisation 2 C&C - red alert
Honourary mention to Battle of the Bulge Ardennes Offensive (1990s) - (never did crack this one and spent hours every day trying)
Could rattle out some of the big pack Microsoft games such as Gunship, etc back when as a youth 30-40 quid really hurt to buy, maybe this made them seem better than what they were at the time.
Then onto online Games Lan/MMOPG
AoE 2 Fighter Ace (series 1 to 2) not 3-which killed it. (or Air attack if UK, although i was one of the few brits in FA' from version 1 upwards) ahh the days of joy finding Free.dot.net ISP, and finding ways of beating "time costs money online". WWIIonline and Eve !
Just can't get a rise out of AI based games, been online only for a long time.
And lastly the grandaddys that got me online in the first place.
The microsoft "Zone".com and online chess and Spades. I suppose they count as "games".

Fallout 2 Truly unique RP game. Dang I could use a MMO with the immersion and skill system of this one. Hostile Waters A greatly overlooked game. One of the very few games that actually taught me something. Great story, intriguing game play and AI controlled units there were not stupid as ants. Dungeon Keeper I & II If you have tried these you know they are pure win. X-com: Apocalypse Though the first X-COM was a marvel on its own, this one had elements that I had seriously missed from the first, like the choice of killing with discretion or go on a rampage but pay for the damages. And of course inter-corporate fighting, EVE related. C&C-Tiberium Dawn Still beats any Blizzard produced RTS by miles as far as I concerned. Not saying the Blizzard games were crap, but this was better.
Dang, with so many good games made in the past it is amazing the crap they are putting up to day, especially for a player who prefers strategy type games of the mind challenging kind, not the RTS slugs feasts that gets mass produced these days. ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute

ALRIGHT who were you? there's only like 5 people in the world that think HW:C had the best multiplayer (including me)
let's see... I still have 3800 screenshots from HWC.
Unfortunately I cannot say who I was as some super sleuth would find a reference saying that my character in EVE played HW:C and then I would get outed.
Needless to say I still fondly remember the says of 4 v 4 on Close Quarters, 1 v 1 vs silencio (man that guy was hardcore), the early days of the Wolf Pack running rampage and dropping a DFF right in front of a Kunn Lann 2 seconds before the siege cannon went off.

GTA/GTA3 - GTA3 was just awesome when it came out, and is still a favourite of mine over the newer games WoW - Ok, so we all bash it, but the game really does suck you in and withers away your life. Once the novelty wears off though, it's all samey-same. Red Faction (PS2) - Loads better than the sequel. The geo-mod engine which allowed you to literally blow chunks out of any wall in the game was cool. Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 (PS2) - I wasted too a couple of summers on the Tony Hawk games. The Sims - addictive as hell!
Edit

In no order
1)Warhammer Dawn of War (All expansions):It can give that instant in depth strategic action most games including eve can't give as quickly. 2)Final Fantasy VII: This should be a fairly obvious choice(Have the semi-rare PC version with the box and everything)I think FF X was a close second, XII was good too. 3)Aliens Vs Predator 2: Giving the story mode a go around was a blast, specially as the marines, gives a bit better feeling of being stranded and helpless, focusing you on the mission. Also for fun factor beats many other current FPS's 4)EVE: Strangely enough I most of the time feel indifferent with EVE, I'm not really sure if it's my favorite game but I do enjoy it some of the time, it has it's moments that are awesome, but vica versa there can be hours where it seems I'm not really going anywhere.(Trying to find a corp that may solve this problem) 5)Diablo II: Only because of the amount of time it caught my attention. Still, for some reason it kept me and many others entertained with such a mindless hack and slash style, not sure how but it was fun for a long time.

I'm continually torn between the desire to see Thief IV and the feeling that the third chapter completed the whole story in such a symmetric manner that it would be a crime to make a sequel. The City is my absolute favorite game universe, with nothing coming close to it (not even Fallout or AvP).

1) MOH:AA - I co-ran TMY (The Mystery Yodas) clan and we were the best Euro team for just under a year until we disbanded, then I joined DaMn. Clanbase and everyone there hated us in DaMn .. that made the game far more fun I can tell you 2) BF: Vietnam. I loved this version better than the others (I have all the BF series) because you can play great music while driving cars, flying helicoptors/planes etc. 3) HL:2 - Self explainitory really 4) Any of the Hitman series. All brilliant in their own way. 5) Splinter Cell - love the stealth stuff, makes you think for a change.
I dont mention Eve because i'm still playing Eve. So it goes without saying that after all these years Eve still holds my attention. As i've just paid for another years subs I must be enjoying it

Edited by: marigoyla on 22/08/2008 02:08:40 - Crusaders of the Dark Savant (wizardry 7) - Semi text RPG, wasted my youth with this one.
- C & C Zero Hour. Unlimited Gameplay. Propably the most addicting and passion played game by me. For 3 years in a row, still havent got bored of it.
- Wing Commander because it was the first but it was nothing compared to X-Wing series for gameplay...
-Simcity 4 Apart from these 4 games that first come in mind, i have wonderfull memories of other games but they fall in the same "Appreciation level" Some are. F1GP 2 (microprose), Medieval 2, Silent Hunter 2-3-4, Falcon 3, ATF, Eurofighter, Simcity 4, Warcraft 2, Age of Empires, Fallout, Heroes of Might and Magic, Baldurs gate, Privater, UFO/X-COM, transport tycoon, Colonization, Fifa, NBA Live 98', settlers, Master of Orion... etc etc...
Geezzz i have played a lot of games! We all got speed tickets. Now we must comply with the law (the physic's law) |

Edited by: Zaknussem on 22/08/2008 18:15:17 I know I will not get kind opinions or remarks for some of the things I am about to say here, but a few comments made in this thread simply have to be shot down, even though I'm nitpicking. They are:
Originally by: Buxaroo Command and Conquer - Was the first true RTS for the PC. But anyone in the know knows that Herzog Zwei from the first Sega Genesis was the first RTS
It's a shame then that you are not in the know, because C&C was not the first RTS (true or otherwise) for the PC. Two games called Dune II and Warcraft came before it. The former of those defined the RTS genre as we know it. C&C added many improvements and became the de facto standard for all RTS games.
Originally by: Jacob Mei Oldest to newest
1. Star Wars X-Wing Fighter...
2. Lemmings - Ecrack
Lemmings is older than any of the X-Wing or TIE Fighter games.
Originally by: Suze'Rain Syndicate (PC, 1993)
odd that almost all my games are sandboxes.
If Syndicate is a sandbox, then it is a very small sandbox. I would actually go so far as to say that Syndicate is not a sandbox game. But it is a very very open game. Loads of fun too.
This one is kinda off-topic:
Originally by: Atomos Darksun Sadly, I think CCP is going the direction of SOE right now - not listening to their loyal community when they should. When we say that the nerf is overnerf, they scream NO!!!! to the same extent as SOE did when everybody said the NGE sucked and they should rollback.
Considering how the "Loyal Community" behaves on these very forums, it should come as no surprise to anyone that CCP does not listen. Have you ever considered that it is actually the "Loyal Community" that is screaming NO!!!! (and acting like spoiled babies) and not CCP?
Originally by: Marcus Xero ATOMIC BOMBERMAN - hard to get hold of...
Getting your hands on a Bomberman game (or a clone that plays exactly like it) is very easy. You'll have a harder time catching a cold. (Hint: Try Googling it.)
Now, for my top 5 games, in alphabetical order:
Bubble Bobble (1985) - Such a simple game. Such a silly concept. Such incredible depth and charm. Such a great design. An absolute classic.
Planescape: Torment (1999) - The best RPG game ever made. No other game has captured the core ideals of RPGs as well as PS:T.
Psychonauts (2005) - The best game made in the last 8 years. In an era of me-too clones and "only do stuff that'll sell well", it's a wonder to see someone make a game that actually does something different, and with style too.
Thief trilogy (1998, 2000, 2004) - I was surprised it took 4 pages for any of these games to show up here. I'm actually having trouble finding the proper words to describe these three games, but they are awesome. Hard as nails, but worth it. Thief: The Dark Project spawned off the "stealth-game" genre that's been done to death in the last 10 years.
Ultima VII (1992) - The Ultimate Sandbox game. You're plonked into a living, breathing world, and while you're given a direction to go into, there's no need to follow it. In fact, somebody thought it would be funnier to break the game rather than complete it. |

( heard noone say this one before )
1: Earth and Beyond
Loved it the beginning i played it,been playing it for a year but EA closed it down on september 2004, closed it down with this excuse: Electronic Arts wished to put more money into The Sims Online and turn that into a big marketing success. EnB is being remade. ill return there if its finished :P
2: EvE
well of course it had to be in here, was the next MMO i played after EnB shut down. still love it ^-^
3: Trackmania United Forever
its a simple game, and has this addicting Aura.
4:Black and White 1&2
call me crazy but i loved playing God somehow :P, yea i was younger then, bought Black and White 1 when it came out, of course i bought the Expansion too.
5:Burnout Series
I wasnt really a Racing Game kind of Guy, but Burnout was something else, my first contact was with Burnout 2 actually. and now all the way to the end, Burnout Paradise for Xbox 360 *godly :P*

1> Quake (IMO most sigificant online fps, fastest gameplay I've ever seen in a fps) 2> Everquest (addicting as hell, very challenging...well at least back in the good ole days.) 3> Final Fantasy 3 (Just a great rpg with a ton of characters, it was FF at it's best-before the characters became all anime-looking in FF7 and beyond ) 4> Chono-Trigger (Great plot, multiple endings!! ) 5> Earthbound (Totally unique rpg in that it is NOT a fantasy setting.)
The last two I wouldn't count among "the greatest" games, but are special to me so I had to list them.
Other favorites: Secret of Mana, Doom, Diablo, CnC Red Alert, Sim City, Battlefield Vietnam, Wolfenstien, Fallout...
This doesn't include Eve-IMO the most complex and challenging game to date...and im addicted, hehe.

1. Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast) - Great storyline, fell in love with this game. 2. Gran Turismo series - Really, nuff said. 3. BF: Vietnam/BF2 - wicked fun on multiplayer, again, nuff said. 4. Goldeneye (N64) - invented FPS games as we know them. 5. Honestly its a tie between Elder Scrolls: Oblivion or Dark Messiah Might and Magic (the multiplayer of this was fun as shit too)
Then theres Eve, but this game is in a class of its own.

1. EVE Duh? 2. Half life 2 Despite it's linear gameplay, it's an awesome story! 3. Call of Duty 4 Probably one of the best FPS I have tried. 4. Bioshock Decent graphics, cool history. Just quite polished overall. 5. Supreme Commander Epic fun as multiplayer.

5) Super Smash Bros Melee - probably the most "social" game I've played with friends. 4) Stalker - fun FPSRPG, still working on beating it. 3) Half Life 2 - exciting playing it the first time. I shat my pants at Ravenholm. 2) The Orange Box (Portal and TF2 especially) - best first-person games I've played. Ever. 1) WoW - I'm not gonna lie. I was addicted; I'm talking hardcore-16-hour-days addiction. I did the PvP grind and had a character to High Warlord and then became a hardcore raider. It was very fun to me to be on top of the rest of the PvPers and then dominate the damage charts stabbing a dragon in the heels. Too fun actually. I quit and came to EVE, which doesn't require a large amount of time invested for me to be good at PvP, just a moderate amount and a lot of intelligence and thinking.
Not really a unique list, but fun is fun. But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

Honourable mentions: Freelancer, Darkstar One, X-wing series - for being great space sims for cheap thrills Crysis, COD4 - just good fun FPS games. Jedi Knight series, Kotor etc - great Star Wars fun

1) Battleground Europe (formerly WW2 Online): Probably the most fun game I have ever played. Hardest pvp I've ever experienced but very rewarding, horrible graphics but outstanding gameplay. Had to quit when I lost my highspeed connection.
2) Baldur's Gate 2: Epic game, best villian I've ever seen in a videogame.
3)Guerrilla War (NES): You play as che and castro taking on the cuban government, can't believe it actually got into production. Great fun.
4)Battlefield 2: I never played bf1942 so I can't comment on it, BF2 was great though.
5)Red Alert 2: An absolute classic.
Special mention: Planescape Torment (game i've always wanted to play but never got around to finding a copy).
