so i've read plenty on using alts in eve, my question is, is it possible to run 2 eve clients with 2 different chars on one comp? i thought i read somewhere you need 2 comps and that you can't run more than one client on a computer. my computer has more than enough resources to run 2 clients if i could, running both in windowed mode of course. so is it possible? |

You obviously haven't thoroughly read what you've been reading , as running mulitple clients on one computer has been the norm since the game launched.
You're probably confused because of the fact you need multiple accounts. One per client.
You cannot log into a single account and use more than one character at the same time over multiple clients. |

As long as the characters are on separate accounts, yes. |

my apologies for not reading enough into it, what i did read stated you needed to use 2 computers. which is simply why i was asking this on the forums. thank you Greg for the non rude response to a simple question |

you can not run a trail version with a normal client on the same machine - both [all] have to be full versions http://eveboard.com/ub/419190933-134.png

This is wrong, it works regardless if you change compability. (last word might not be correct, since I'm norwegian and did an direct translation) |

no a trail version [i.e. limited days ] before it is upgraded to full account [i.e. paid for 1 month will do] will not run at the same time as another copy - unless this has changed recently . http://eveboard.com/ub/419190933-134.png

As CCP has put in code to not allow you to do it, actively posting ways around it on their forums probably isn't too bright, eh? If your google-fu is strong though, I'm sure you could find something, or you could simply plex the alt account and not worry about it.
Don't assume bad intent, when stupidity is the much more likely cause. |

if you use some sort of sandboxing solution you can of course circumvent this restriction |

i'm not trying to do anything to undercut CCP's rules. i just didn't know what he meant by that. i'm working on plexing another account so thank you all for the replies. i just wanted to make sure it was possible before i wasted my time setting up an alt. thank you again |

Once you've plexed up the second account they will both run together at the same time, just open the client twice, log in to each account and that's it. |

It's very much possible as I have done this myself.
right click the .exe -> the last option on the right click menu (Properties) -> Compability -> Change to will, I usually pick Windows XP (lastest patch) and there you go you can now use two clients. Trial or not. |

Depends on your computer. I can, but I can't do much with the clients without risking an overheat. Anything complicated like mission running or mining in crowded systems leads to lag. |

You should have no problems running multiple clients. The only problem that should/could arise would be a hardware deficiency on your part but as far as CCP's end goes you can run as many clients on the same machine as you want. I run 3 or 4 on mine no problem.

Sure, as long as both accounts are paid ones. You can't "dual-box" if one of your "boxes" is a trial.
Why do they call it dual-boxing anyway? There's only one box...

I have run up to seven clients on one computer at the same time. Your video card and ram will likely be limiting factors.
I have an i5-2500k, 16GB ram and an HD6850 card. 7 clients doesn't even use up 1/2 the ram. Frame rate drops but is still quite playable. Note, I do not run them in full screen mode - i'd need seven monitors for that.
