I came across a bunch of secure containers that belonged to an enemy. I didnt want to waste my entire ammo on trying to destroy the tainers... I then released my drones, but they wouldnt attack the tainers..
Freakin Tainers!! Drove me nuts. Any suggestions?

Lasers and lots of patience. I really don't like thinking how many missions I've done over time, or how long they've taken on average. |

afaik it takes roughly the same amount of damage to kill a sec can as it does to take down the shields of a station. not sure about the exact numbers but i would bring friends and lots of ammo or energy weapons. Director, Divine Retribution

Yep I think this is really lame.
What's the point of making secure cans indestructable? Was there a reason?

Eh, to stop people destroying them maybe?
Secure cans were put into the game as an alternative to jet can mining. If they could be easily destroyed, then the ore thiefs would be secure can killers instead.

We once had 30 - 40 battleships down in Fountain waiting on a nice big fleet battle.
While we waited, we decided to shoot-up a medium secure container that was near a gate.
We had 10 - 15 people shooting at it with lasers, cruise missiles, hybrids... everything you could think of, and the can never blew.
This was about 2 months ago, so I don't know if they're still so 'indestructable' now.

Does one take a security hit or summon the wrath of the concord when shooting these items. I saw a secure can that was part of an "known outlaw". Naturally as a do gooder I wish to disrupt their operations.

Giant secures have 10 mill hitpoints. I've killed one using an apoc and lasers, took like 14 hours (afk) but it was worth it !!

Blowing up a secure can does not attract the attention of any sentry guns etc. I spent three hours one night just trying to blow up a small secure container. I did it but man it took a long time and a lot of ammo. I would not suggest it. You may be able to steal it if the person that jettison the container is in the area you can steal the can if it is not anchored Kein Mehrheit F³r Die Mitleid |

Surely they should be very hard, but not impossible to kill? Maybe firing on them should alert the owner, or his clan-mates or anyone in local space.
I would have thought removing intruders secure containers would be a viable tactic - and a viable way of extorting some money as a pirate.
It makes little sense in the gameworld to have indestructible items. If containers are so strong, why not build a battleship out of the same material?

Apparently it is easier to bring down a battleship or an entire stations sheilds than it is to destroy a simple cargo container.
I was thinking there might be a way to strap on some cargo containers to my frigate next time I go into battle :)

Small ones can't take much punishment, I killed two in my taranis without reloading my guns (120*3 AM S charges).

As stated above
The can has 10 million hitpoint (just try to repair one and see for yourself).
It will blow after that.
~10 ppl in apocs can pop a can in one hour.
If you don't mind wasting ammo, a megathron maxed for dmg can pump some 550-600 dmg/sec. Which is about 2mill HP/hour.
afk killing a can with an apoc isn't doable anymore. The modules turn themselves off after a certain amount of activations.
And yes.. you are right if you guess I have calculated and practised this on enemys cans * -"You know, we play the "good guys" right? We kill pirates, griefers, retards and general subversive elements in the EVE-Community. To the rest, we are friendly and always prepared to help out. Peo |

Edited by: Talon SilverHawk on 02/06/2004 14:32:30 I think there quicker to kill than that. We killed a couple with 1 apoc 1 blasterthon in orbit a raven and 1 other BS. It didnt take an hour maybe half that or less each. (yes we where bored at the time)

That's a lot easier to do than you think. I often go into battle with 2 giant secure cans, a mammoth and a scorpion stuck to my frigate...

Me and Moleh (and others) shot a can by the SV5 gate (I think) In HED-GP constantly for a good percentage of the time we camped that gate, for about a month.... it never Died. That's two Apocs (at the time ;P) with decent gunnery skills shooting it for a long long time.
They Got teh mad HP
Nice Sig Tyrrax btw ;) -------- Your 1400mm Howitzer Artillery I perfectly strikes Republic Fleet Testing Facilities, wrecking for 1395.9 damage. (:D)

These cans would be good armor tanks Unrealistic crap, implemented because too many people cry about ore-thiefes. Addicted to mine with macros! 1 more reason why i say: only a dead carebear is a good carebear. Shoot them out of the game, so they don¦t destroy the rest of the game.

remember the small secur can takes about 10-15min a gigant one takes forever like tyrrax say prolly around 10mill skill points and thats alot what i dont like however is. when u blast it there is no loot nothing might seem dumb that a secur can should drop a loot can but it would be much cooler
