Hi,
I have been playing about a month and I would like to dabble in the world of trading and hauling.
I understand the concepts: buy at low price, haul to high price area, and sell.
But is it really as monotonus as just flying around from region to region to find decent prices? Is there something I am missing? Any (serious) tips anyone can give?
Thanks :)

That is pretty much it, just look for a good area to buy and sell. Disregard trade goods as they are too limited now to actually bring in real cash. Instead, try trading minerals, as there is always a demand for those. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Edited by: Magellan Abraxis on 02/06/2004 16:09:40 You might want to park your ship in a solarsystem near the galactic "highway" running through EVE, or a system where 2 or 3 regions come together. This way, you wont have to fly very far to check out prices in another region. Also, start training and saving for one of those industrial ships and stuff like afterburners (those ships are sloooooow) and cargo-expanders.

If you find it monotonous then you can try high risk trading in 0.0 areas. The risk is great but the reward too^^ . You need to bring missiles and munitions to 0.0 and bring back zydrine and megacyte to empire^^.
If the pirates catch you then you lose your life your cargo and your ship but if you can make it through then you will be rich.

People say there is no trading skill in EVE, but if your up for it you can become very rich buying and selling player made goods where they are needed. Thats how I make all my cash..

I already have an indy + AB's, I'm just a bit of a slow learner (at least slow learning the world of EVE) :)

Another tip is to have your 2 alt characters parked at other regions to check prices in the neighbouring regions without having to jump around.

What is the galactic highway? How can I tell in the map if a solar system is near several regions?

I'm not in Eve at the moment, but can't you set the map to display different regions as different colours? Then if so, just look arund your local area of a place where three or so regions are in close proximity. This is where you want to base your trading operation.

That makes sense.
I looked up archives about highway. I understand how they work now, but still don't now how one can find them.
For example to get from Caldari to Amarr space I had to take 13 jumps yesterday.I wonder if there is a quicker way through the highway system.

your autopilot automaticly takes the fastest route according to your settings. you can set shortest/safest, not through unsecore or podkills etc.
