Assume you know somebody, whom you have told not to buy ISK for cash. You have warned them that they should not do it, and they continue.
You are annoyed with them for a) not listening to you and b) for fuelling the ISK buying market
What should you do?

Either report it (and accept that you are, yes, you ... are a snitch).
Or don't hang out with him, because you disagree on a prime principle of your morals.
Or, move on.
So you want security? That's perfectly alright. But you should be willing to trade freedom and profit for that security. |

I Would report them that way ccp can stop them and track the isk back to the seller and get rid of another isk seller The only problem with Common Sense is it is not that common anymore |

Better yet, don't report them. Nobody likes a snitch. Instead, wait until they buy something major, gang with them, and destroy it. Take the 'law' into your own hands

It may take some time while CCP tracks it all down but he's going to get caught eventually. What's the problem with hastening it up a bit? _______________

No, instead, you wait until they buy something major, THEN you snitch on them, causing CCP to enact their double punishment policy (removing items bought with dirty ISK, AND removing the same amount of ISK that you bought from your wallet), which often times causes you to have a negative wallet. With luck, he will lose hope and either start a new character or leave EVE forever.

Remind them that it is against the EULA or rules or something then wait for CCP to crush their wallet then laugh at them.

Keep him at arms length, and above all, SHOW NO PITY "when" things go badly for him.
When he logs in one day, and finds himself at negative Billions of isk, REMEMBER: Its his SELF INFLICTED problem.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

Better report him now before he buys more and more and then one day wakes up with a -10 billion and month long ban on his account. Takes a while for CCP to catch up to the ISK buyers and unfortunately by that time these guys have bought a lot of ISK so they cannot compensate the huge negative wallet balance with game time codes. Then they just quit the game.

Tell him he's pathetic and laugh at him. Then blow him up. Then laugh at him for spending lots of RL cash for fake digital stuff. Then blow him up again.
Continue until he stops buying isk.

You've already grassed him up unless this char is another account with a different payment method.
Check accounts against the same card as pays for this one or the characters on this account. Stick a search on the chat logs with the criteria 'isk buying'.
I wouldn't worry they it's all smoke and mirrors they don't actually care. /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

This is an alt char of an upstanding player, there's no direct ties. The account could probably be linked but there's never been a trade between any of my chars and who I am talking about.

You say 'an upstanding character', but from what you say in the op, you must be an accomplice and thus equally liable, and from logs ......... When made aware of a crime, a person must jump one way or the other. Standing still is colluding.
Edit: I am just winding you up here, if this person is a friend, don't just f*** them up on the strength of what anyone says here. Give it some serious thought and reach your Own decision, and have the strength of your own convictions/morals.

What is the CCP policy on this though? For me, I'd be snitching basically because they didn't heed my advice - and nothing annoys me more. The fact that I mine, mission and so on to get my ISK makes me unhappy that someone is paying ú2 per 100m (so I hear) really ****es me off.... TBH I would smile if that persons account went into negative.

the best way to deal with it...
TELL him in real life you snitch on him if he reacts poorly, then you know he needs to be petitioned if he doesn't you can still redeem him, tell him you didn't and maybe he should petition himself, begging for redemption if neither happens, post his character name so he can be podded back to the stone age

Trouble is with that, is if I spoke to him about it IRL then he'd know how much I really know. Sadly, I am friends with this guy IRL and I have warned him not to do it. I'm sure if I publically 'outed' him he'd know who it was.
ATM I'm as anon as I can be (to players at least) with regards to this issue.

Just snitch on him as soon as he buys it, he'll have learned a costly lesson. CCP never tells the perp who told on him.

Make sure you never get anything off him, be it isk or mods//ships etc. Even to borrow or move. And if he is in same corp beware as well, ccp can be a bit blunt when they finally catch up with isk buyers and generally start taking back anything that has been remotely near them.
For example he lends you a bil or so, you spend it, next thing you know have a negative wallet and whatever you bought has disappered.

The wierd part of this is that Eve is one of the few games that allows you to buy isk for cash legimately. All he has to do is buy time codes and then sell them for isk. The people who buy from isk sellers are double-dumb. They're risking their account just for the sake of getting the isk a little cheaper than they could through the legimate channel.
If I were you I'd just assume your friend is too dumb to play this particular game, and don't be too suprised when he suddenly stops, either because he logs in one day to find his account billions in the red, or because he simply isn't bright enough to succeed at the game, which could well be why he's using bought isk as a crutch in the first place.
You've already gotten good advice to keep him at arm's length. Don't trade with him, or accept anything from him.
