Hi. I'm a bit of a noobie here. I just got a bit bored of doing NPC missions and decided to have a bit of a wonder around to have a chat in some of the more populated places. Most of the ppl I've met have been cool until today.
Made it up as far as X-70MV without seeing much tho there were some ppl round there in impressive ships zooming round at silly speeds (I'm going to presume that's what an MWD does. Can't wait till next week when I should have the skill to use one). However they weren't very talkative. Jumped into the next world - J-CIJU (who makes up these names???) and saw shed loads of ships there and battle drones and stuff so I thought 'OK. I'd better shift'. I tried to go back, but before I could make it in my little frigate I was destroyed then podded!!! Those things aren't cheap you know! :(
The ppl who did this are from:
Oberon Incorporated RONA-KIA Riders of Rohan CyberDyne Industries Battlestars StarLight Inc. FW Inc 20th Legion
Are these pirates corporations? I thought they usually had 'leet speek' in their names? But there were about 20 massive ships attacking my frig!!! Are these ppl determined to make ppls lives as miserable as possible?

Edited by: Gundog Prime on 02/06/2004 20:15:33 Sorry then on behalf of the Phoenix Alliance (PA) we are at war with several people who i'll tell you are now called the Traitors Alliance (TA), cos they stab you in the back...
But they'll say the PA are backstabbers and you should join TA cos PA cant be trusted and they probably killed you for fun...
So basically we're at war and people use alternate n00b chars for spying so dont go North of Torrinoes mate...and again sorry
BTW i tried to show both sides of the story TA is NOT what they call themselves and is not a registered trademark --------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds like some Jade Puppet Alliance alt post for me lol ....
But still, if it really happened it is just what you can expect in a warzone. The noob corp chars are usually defined as spies. And sry for all non-spies, every war takes civilian lifes too....
**** happens. -------------------

Brainlag........... seems like you were in the wrong place at the very wrong time. Many of the 0.0 outerregions around eve are controlled by various alliances, so unless ur in a very fast ship and experienced in getting away from such blockades i would advise you dont go there. You may have innocent intentions, but the various alliances and corp around Eve employ so many newb spys that if your defending such a region you really cant take the chance of letting a spy or an indy killer past in a frigate so u have to shoot first ask questions later so to speak ______________________________

Edited by: Gundog Prime on 02/06/2004 20:28:11 Well shooting first and asking later in a warzone is why PA won the Battle of Traitors gate 2 nights ago
Sorry that and other reasons that would constitute a flame... --------------------------------------------------------------

I was actually about to order him killed but I was busy chasing an enemy crow. Noobs are KOS but at first I hesitated because he was in a Tristan. But even spies can fly tristans to give a false impression.
IF the PA did not kill you I would have. Just the way it goes in 0,0 when you are in a noob corp.
Edit: Main problem was he hung around the gate at first. Bad move. If he had flown to the gate and jumped rigth away I would probably have ignored him. Good advice, if you are in anything above a noob ship or shuttle dont hang around gates if you are in a noob corp. Then you might survive it. -------------------------

Run into a warzone in a frigate and your gonna get podded.
As a matter of course BOTH sides use n00b characters to spy on the other side (no loss if you get killed). Take some advise... if you want to wander around 0.0 look at your map regularly... you see 2 big blobs next to each other it's either a mutual appreciation society gathering or a gate camping stand off... or a huge battle about to kick off.... AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
If you arent an alt... unlucky... if you are tough luck and stop whining.

How do you tell if a place is a warzone? I looked on the 'deaths in the last hour' on the map thing and there were very few in 0.0 space compared to the bit in the middle...
If I were to be driving a car in WWII up towards Germany I'd have gotten the hint a long time before getting anywhere near. Here I just jumped into the middle of a bunch of ppl who killed me when they saw me :(
How can you tell these places?

I realise now that 0.0 is a bit(!!!) out of my league, but such blatant overkill against a ship that couldn't hurt a fly let alone an indy with its 5 million shields or whatever? What would the harm be in just saying "go away or die" to noobies? Faced with the lot I saw earlier I'd have taken the hint! My Tristan could do 300m/s - surely one of those battleships could easily chase down something like that if ti tried to make a run for it?

I remember him. He was one of those zooming around in the world before. Didn't seem too bothered at my presence tho.

Brainlag:
The problem is if I tell you to go away you might warp to a safespot and stil spy on me. It's easier to just quickly get you killed and hopefully podded so you vanish from the system. Damage control.
I know I was not paying much attention but that was due to me getting intel and chasing a crow around. When the crow warped I actually gave the order to go kill you but you had already jumped. So either way, one of us would have killed you. -------------------------

brainlag, while i'm sorry you got killed, being in a noob corp, in a frig, and in 0.0 space, is not where you're supposed to be. As for how you're supposed to know, check the forums. Or check pilots in space. The big red blobs are a usual giveaway. Now you know it's a warzone and not to go there. Oh, also please post the kill message you got so that i can talk with those pilots ty.

Tristan will pwn an indy without a second thought.

Any teir 3 or 4 frigate will own an indy, which is one reason alliances can't afford to let noobs they don't know fly around freely in their space. Another reason is spies, many warring corps use noobs as spies to get numbers on enemy fleets and movements, or mining ops and so forth, and this simply can't be allowed. In any war information is invaluable and although you might not be there to gather information no alliance can know that for sure.
Bottom line is if you're not a member of an alliance in 0.0 space you have to treat everyone as hostile.

You have to read forums, talk with ppl a lot in game and have you eyes aroung the head
If you're a total noob thats understandable that you feel lost in a situation but after some time you will learn to know such things like where not to go.
