On the above link you will see a story about a biker that has been jailed for 15 months for riding his bike like a maniac, a worthy sentence you might think? I would also agree apart from what would happen if we changed the scenario.
The scenario i'm talking about is that we should imagine that this was a car thief, the car thief driving a car he has just stolen at break neck speeds past schools and other built up areas where the chance of pedestrian deaths would be greatly increased, while he's driving like a maniac he smashes into a few other cars as well as the police cars that are chasing him and of course destroying the poor victims car he has just stolen, when the police finally arrest him he laughs in their faces and shouts various insults at them and mocks how he this is yet another one of his car theft exploits.
Now heres the best bit, the court case! The judge slaps him on the wrist with a suspended sentence with maybe a few hours community service, he also bans him from driving for a year on top of the bans he has already recieved for doing similar things, this ban to take effect if/when he actually gets a license (laughable tbh).
The above what I've said is not based on one event but based on many similar crimes you hear about on the news everyday, the point of the matter is that the justice system here is a joke, criminals are protected and law abiding citizens get pounded with the full weight of the law constantly through fines for being harmlessly drunk on the street or speeding 2mph over the speed limit.

I think some of you are getting a bit side tracked with the point I was making, the biker deserved what he got, but had he stolen the motorbike with no license etc he most definately would not have been punished as severley. I never said he was a law abiding citizen either, the point I made there was seperate.
