It would be nice if a few solar systems were yaknow... like most and not in the middle of a nebula. Why is it so hard to just have black with stars as the background? I think it would be nice. :]

Thx Atropos, looking forward to it.
The closest I/others enjoy at the moment in terms of difference and exciting backdrops is Reconnaissance part 3.

IIRC Trinity took about 90 man-years, and that just covers the ships and station models. I'd hope that this could be done a bit faster than that, but at least they've covered the objects that people spend the most time looking at. Zzz research towers Direrie NEW: Liekuri

Actually I think it was mentioned that the coming revamp was more difficult to get right then Trinity part 1! And as such was to be undertaken last! If I remember correct it was much more difficult to get right and pretty difficult too if I understood it correct.. Dont ask me why but Ill take their words for it.

I hope the new effects include missiles that look like they are being fired separately instead of a big blob of light. And also, please remake the sound while you are at it... there must be much, much better sound effects for lasers, projectiles and hybrids than what you used since 2003.

Seriously though, some systems are just way too bright and quite frankly, look silly...Especially missions where you zoom out and it's a shrunk nebulae surrounded by nothing but pretty wallpaper.
I'm sure these have been plastered on these boards numerous times, but comon', X3 screens own.

I'd like to see more of the above, instead of a fiery neblue, imploding star or something about to go supernova every time I enter a system. Leave them for hard to reach places and/or use them to encourage exploring or whatever.

Actually, space really does look like EVE space, it just depends on how sensitive your sensor is. Our eye is just not sensitve enough to see all the detail in space. Check out the pic below, with an even longer exposure you could have even more pretty colors:

I am with you on this too. I know that nebulae are cool and ccp wants us to have some scenic variety in each system, but it "is" a space game. We all understand that we are in space. And space is mostly black.

Or atlest give us an option to toggle on/off all those dustclouds/nebulaes. I myselfe would love to see a simplistic black background once in a while.

Doesn't make sense that the ring structure is still visible on the other side unless that sun is really small, but it still looks like it's going through the sun..

if they added that option, then some 75% of players would do it just like they currently disable sound... ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

Originally by: Straight Chillen i just wish the stars actually meant something, ya kno, like u could see where the actual stars are. Imagine if your auto pilot showed its route by charting a line on the actual stars you saw off in the distance. That would be crazy for the immersion factor of the game.
Ohhh, nice. QFT. I saw a post somewhere where the idea was that each constellation was static, same background. Depending on where you were within that constellation, the background would shift slightly and colour would vary a bit. This idea of a vector or map line drawn on screen is just crazy cool.
Somehow I have a feeling that the tax on the server would also be crazy tho.... |

Nah actually if you go out in the middle of nowhere, on a clear night you can clearly see a cloud ring banding from horizon to horizon. I've only seen it when I go camping out in Big Bend Natl. Park. But it's there, and I can only assume it's the rest of the Milky Way. I love going camping there and make it a point to go when the moon is in between it's crescents,.. looking up at that nighttime sky really makes you realize that you're just an ant crawling on the side of a rock floating somewhere in space. xD
Those x3 screens are awesome though. o.O

The graphics extension 'only' gave us an update to the most common objects we look at. Lots of the other objects and the particle effects remained the practically the same. I have high hopes that in due time these will be replaced as well. I think the engine is ready for it, and when the work will be done, they will be introduced as well.

What you're seeing there is the Milky Way. Literally - our galaxy (it was later found out that it's our galaxy) was named after it. --
