No dude, the web nerf hurts all turrets, but hurts blasters and autocannons the most. On that note, I've had alot of success ganking megathrons on test with a standard 1 gyro Autopest. :)
Of course, I do this by virtue of a tracking disruptor right in the middle of his optimal range. :-/

Ding, you have done the same as i have done, i have had a very high success as well against lots of ships.
So far i have had 9 fights against Megathrons, and 7 of them have died. 3x Maelstroms, and all of them have died horribly to me. 3x Ravens, lost to one of them. 2x Typhoons, and lost to one of them. 2x Kronos'es, and won over one . 1x Apoc and killed it. 1x Abaddon and also won over it.
But i have had one fight against a Dominix and a Hyperion where i lost to both of them.
But this is with the web and speed nerf.
So i would say the Tempest works pretty damn good in small engagements (Small scale PVP) on sisi with the changes there.
I have 6x Dual 650mm t2 AC guns, 2x Heavy neuts, 1 ECM Multispec. 1x Tracking Disruptor and one LAR II, 1x DC II, 2x EANM II's, 1x 1600mm Rolled Plate, 1x Gyrostab II with 3x T2 Trimarks (T1 on TQ). Rest on the ship is just normal PVP fit.

Edited by: NightmareX on 15/08/2008 20:35:57 I know many Neutron fitted Megathron pilots who fit Medium Capacitor Booster on the Mega, and those who do that will have a problem to handle 2x Heavy Neuts. Hmm, maybe that's the reason i have won over so many Megathrons heh.
And yeah, my Tempest on sisi have 30k armor without the Slave Omega implant (20k on TQ without ANY implants)

Originally by: Liang Nuren Did you find that the second neut was all but useless? I'd end up only running one 90% of the time, because the second one didn't seem to really gain me alot after the first minute or so of the battle.
-Liang
Well i don't think that's kinda right, because the more you neut the more cap the target will lose, and more cap boosters have to be burned faster. And the faster a Mega for example are out of cap the more chance you have to kill him and survive.
But to a more nice thing. I would really like to fight your Tempest on sisi to see how it performs .
But oh well, WTB an Online Test Server first .

Originally by: Liang Nuren Well, it might be worth running with 5 med neut drones at that rate... but that seems like a pretty specialty thing to do... and 5 med ecm drones might work better anyway.
-Liang
I agree, but still, Tempest need as much DPS as it can get while having a tank that can last a bit, so i would fit Combat Drones anyways, also Heavy Combat Drones.

Originally by: Mythrell My bad, it looks like the Tempest still makes an excellent close range machine as well, you just need to get a bit innovative on the fitting.
Makes it even better. :)
I agree on that. Where the Tempest really shines is in close range combat with a good setup.
And i also can agree that Artillerys need a little boost.
But there is 2 things i want to see changed with the Tempest before i'm 100% happy with it.
The first thing is to exchange the shield and armor hitpoints on the Tempest. And on the Typhoon to if needed.
The second thing is to give Tempest less mass and make it more agile.
That's what the Tempest really need .

Uhm, sorry dude, i don't use a Tracking Disruptor on my Tempest setup on TQ . I'm not stupid . There is a reason why i don't use a TD on TQ, yes because i will die with it atm.
The Tracking Disruptor only works with the web and speed nerf on a Tempest.
On TQ i use an ECM Multispec instead.

I do mean post-patch TQ too.
Well if i'm getting blobbed i'm not gonna survive. But then, i don't think a Megathron or a Domi would survive that either.
But if a lone Mega, Apoc or a Raven for exaple jumps in to attack me, i will laught hard hopefully .

Originally by: AstroPhobic Apoc will be the one laughing. 67km scorch, even double TD'd is plenty to wipe the floor with you.
Domi, Rokh, Raven, Phoon, Apoc, anything faster than you, and potentially the Abaddon/geddon will beat you upsidedownsideways. You know, especially in mythical 1v1 BS vs BS fights. That don't exist.
But that's funny. If i'll get a 1 vs 1 fight on TQ against an Apoc, i'm sure i will kill that Apoc. Specially after i saw how insanly i ****d the last Apoc i was fighting on sisi with my Tempest.
But ofc, he might have been a newb, but i also never know who might be piloting the Apoc on TQ either if i'm meeting one.

The last Apoc with Mega Pulses wasn't near to take my armor to any danger at all.
