First, don't kick out a well liked corporation over some hissy-fit and then deny them the ability to remove their assets, against alliance policy, all without leadership consultation. Then, of course, you go and make yourself look like a tool when said leadership forces you to allow them back in so that they can get their stuff out.
Second, don't demand member corporations start spamming PoS's in contested systems and then not drop a single one from your own corporation. That's just bad form.
Third, demanding 12 million ISK per alliance member for the hiring of a mercenary corporation may be a good idea but when a member corporation asks that you just take that sum out of the 20 billion that Hydra already owes them DO NOT kick out said corporation because, well, they own 50+ PoS's and you just might need them for sovereignty. Also, kicking out their friends probably isn't a good idea either when you're in the middle of a little conflict.
Finally, clear and constant communication and direction is usually needed from leaders during high stress times. Clamming up like a virgin on prom night probably isn't the best option.
None of the above actions really make any sense from the point of view of the typical Hydra member, of which I recently was. We don't get to attend the leadership meetings and their intentions are almost never explained to us. All we get to see are actions. The only world that these actions make any sense in is some bizarro world where Gashon is really a Tri tool. Anyways...
When I was in the Marine Corps they taught us something in NCO school that may or may not translate well into a space ship shoot-em-up: All failures are failures in leadership.
You're welcome, and that will be 5 bucks.

If it makes you feel any better, they were like this a year ago too. They are very draconian, which wouldn't be bad if the decisions they made actually brought success to the alliance and corporations. Instead you're left with a WTF feeling, and a desire to GTFO as fast as possible. The day we left Hydra was perhaps the happiest day I can remember, so congrats you're free! My only regret is not taking part in their destruction

I don't know where you got this comparison. Hydra has always been worse imo than Bruce ever was, and that's saying something.

Fair enough, but don't MM have a ban on CAOD posters unless you are of some sort of importance in the alliance?

You've just confirmed a feeling I've had for a long time. She always seemed much more interested in playing with other alliances rather than her own.

Did you miss the part where he mentioned that Hydra owed his corp 20bn?
I agree his post reeks of a bitterness only I could rival, but the guy has a valid point. He only posted that after his alliance screwed him over.
I think, fair play to him.

How did you join Hydra without doing any research on how they run their alliance? If you were looking for an alliance that runs itself effectively and efficiently, you most definitely joined the wrong one. Consider yourself lucky they kicked you out, you dont want to be associated with that level of fail for too long.

I would assume the same way people get mixed up with goons. They see a 0.0 entity that will offer them membership/space and jump at the chance.

I guess my main point here is, how exactly do you not do any homework on the alliance you are about to join? Granted when I ran this corp he first time, and joined Hydra, I wasnt able to do much homework on them, but I wasnt bracing for uber alliance when we submitted our application.
The OP should have seen all the "hydra fail" posts on the forums (which when I joined, never existed), before joining them. This way he wouldnt have been so let down when they let him go.

Edited by: Wesley Baird on 15/08/2008 14:55:23 The important questions I have, is do I have to shoot these 50 sov towers still?? And Which mercs are coming, and are they willing to deploy capital assets? Would love to see the KIA or Dashio titans dropped on us...please tell me they are bringing the heat!
*ninja edit* For the billions it will cost to hire mercs, we could have rented you out space for billions...seriously...lol

If you decide which alliance you want to join by looking at who has CAOD alt threads talking about them failing then you wouldn't join any alliance. If someone gets kicked from a corp/alliance, loses a fleet fight, wins a fleet fight, steals some crap, or wins/loses a war then you're guaranteed a fail thread. |
