CCP developers this is a simple design change that would have an unbelievably profitable outcome and would earn the eternal appreciation on the EVE player base for many years.
Suggestion #1 Please make all ships in EVE symmetrical especially Gallante and Caldari ships (like the raven)
Suggestion #2 Please make all the titans fly in the correct direction, simply put all the engines on the other side of the ship and run them the other way around
Suggestion #3 Remove "thrusters" and replace them with some sort of sci fi physics manipulator modules because thrusters in space are inefficient and when you have 20 of them on say a ferrox it is very unappealing.
Thank you for your time Working for you the players, development threads:

Meh....leave it alone. I think the Megathron and Raven are the best looking ships out there.
You want to tell a Titan to turn around and fly the other way? "Say hello to my little friend!" Doomsday...buh-bye
The thrusters are merely fluff to make the ship look like it is moving. Besides...I like the contrails. Some sort of invisible looking propulsion would look boring.

I tend to agree that this would be of very limited use of the Dev teams time, and wouldn't effect the overall game much, though it would be aesthetically appealing I don't see a real need for this change at this time, if they need to change anything, aesthetically, it needs to be pos's imo. |

I wish eve ships had more symmetry as well... Asymetric ships just aren't as asthetically pleasing, not to mention being silly from a RP perspective... you would want to have as close to a point symmetry as possible for reasons of thrust application...
Of course I think CCP has much better things to do with thier time then totally rework ship models for minor symmetry reasons... I would just hope that any future models created would have point symmetry (obviously weapon/sensor parts etc could be excluded from the symmetry... |

Keep in mind that there are divisions of developers from Mechanics/Interface/Game Play/Design (there are more) so its not really a waste of overall developer time because they are specifically partitioned to separate tasks |

I wondered numberous Times as well, but in the End it doesn't matter where Thrusters are. It's just a Matter of Direction.
But, speaking of Thrusters: In Space, there is no Friction. If you start your Jets, you accelerate till you reach the Speed of Light - or crash into the next Moon. But the Thrusters are allways on when you are moving and off when you are not.
Looks stupid to me... |

I think its a part of eve that most ships act up against the most basic law of aesthetics: symmetry.
I think I read an article about it even being a basic laws in nature.
But oh well, as long as you can hate stuff, the emotions are active.
But yes, I wish there was more then just Amarr ships sticking to a little symmetry. Tier3 BSs are a step in the right direction. Tier2 battlecruisers as well.

NO dont you take away my asymmetrical manticore, it would look horrible if it was symmetrical. :(
I haven't heard anyone finding the asymetricality (is that even a word?) of ship being a problem so far so why change it now for a handful of people. Also have you noticed that some thrusters are larger than others to even out that effect. Plus it makes gallente and caldari ships stand out.
Removing thrusters would take the beauty away of the nice trailer effects you now got so another no. If you look at eve it is in many ways unrealistic but it isn't trying to be realistic.

Yeah most of the ships are lopsided for no reason. Most of the titans look kinda funny (specially the minmatar). They ain't gonna change it though. They just spent what, a million man-hours redoing the graphics. I doubt they will change anything else now, and further waste that effort and time.
It's just graphics. All the ships look about the same when you blow them up.

Minmatar ships are made from all that scrap metal you keep having to jettison...I like them being ugly, it's part of their "underdog" feel.
OP, I'm sorry, I just don't agree :( Besides, they spent enough time making new models already, I want them to make some reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally good planet/moon textures now ^_^ And get rid of the really bright backgrounds...it's space ffs. ----------------------------------------------

I agree on the damn backdrops. I dunno wtf they were thinking putting every system in the middle of a damn nebula... Stars with maybe a few gas clouds out in the distance would be better IMO. Those of us on LCD screens can get blinded a lot of the times. You mix the nebula glowing, system star and some gas clouds in a mission (like the blue clouds in Worlds Collide) and it gets pretty damn bright. I think I'm gonna have to start wearing sunglasses while playing Eve...
About the ship models though, you touch the Rokh and I'll smack you. My main beefs are the Raven, Scorpion and Moa.. When I flew around in my Moa, I was ashamed to be seen in it .
Also, for those of you saying that the shape doesn't matter because the lack of aerodynamics, what matters in space is mass. If all the engine power is in one side of the ship and the other side has a lot of mass with weaker to no thrust behind 'em, it'd break off. Though, like mentioned before, the way the thrusters are on the the ships counteracts this.
So, the only question that remains is, why? I can understand some of the ship to be asymmetrical, but the whole thing being completely lopsided? Wtf? The Megathron and the Rokh have the thing near the bridge coming off the side slightly breaking the symmetrical feel, but it works. The Scorpion and the Raven though, what happened there?
Another "symmetrical" think I would like to see is turret placement.. Use the Rokh for example. 4x launchers and 4x turrets. What's it look like on the ship? 4 turrets on the top right and 4 on the bottom left.. It looks stupid. In all actuality, it creates a large portion of dead space around the ship where if something were to get, the turrets couldn't aim at it. What would work and look better is 2 turrets on the top on both sides and 2 turrets on the bottom on both sides. All that and I still want launcher animations...

Heh, game was designed befor lcd's were big. CRT anyone? They are most likely working on this already however.

Ya think the moa is ugly? Try the old scythe. Ugliest ship in the game. Leave the poor raven alone. Most people like it.

more likely they have figured out how to **** with momentum. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window?
