Call it "Taera's".
Given what I know of her, she'd get a kick out of it.
I endorse this suggestion.

Guys, CCP have never created a momument to any of the few players who have unfortunately passed away, nor can they. Put yourself in their shoes. If they manifest something ingame for one, they'll have to do it for all of them lest they attract accusations of being cold hearted monsters. Then there will be demands for people who have been turned into vegetables, or had other tragedies. Or people who have died who didn't play eve, but just knew someone who did. How do you decide? And imagine the terrible weight of accusations placed on the poor people who have to make these decisions, or depths that forum-arguments will decend to as people debate over whether there should also be a monument to a soldier-player who died in Iraq - with both halves of the debate threatening to quit. Don't even go there.
The best you can hope for is to build / capture a station, or build a titan, and name those after her. IIRC this has been done by some alliances already, in respect of the memory of certain people.
I think there's a HUGE difference between a member of the playerbase and a CCP employee. I don't think anyone would object--and if anyone wants to DEMAND a memorial for a random player they can damn well make their own MMO and put it there. |

Well obviously looking at the agenda and the items that were put forth and by whom, most of them are only their for self serving reasons. Not for the community as a whole, unless the community happens to coincide with their own desires. |

But the ship idea I think is bad. Especially when I think of the people who would come on the boards complaining that the ship is broken, etc. The explicatives that could be used would be very ... poor taste.
Very true.
I posted in the official thread that it should be a system named Genender's Star. I think it's very appropriate, and pays respect to her real self, not just her virtual side. If you want to do both, which may be appropriate, given that Taera was her official online name, it could be Taera Genender's Star. |

How much of a Richard can you be? How many devs have passed away since Eve was launched? Oh, that's right, NONE.
And how many have such a positive impact on the community in only a few weeks? Oh, yeah, again, NONE. |

How much TOOL can you be? How many PLAYERS have passed away since Eve was launched? Oh, thats right, MANY.
And how would you like to have systems named after RICHARDS and PEOPLE and then feel the impact on the community? Oh, yeah, again, CHAOS.
(In case I get banned from whorums by saing this, I just wanted to point out that we should NEVER treat humans differently just because other was mere player and other was "dev". Eighter give ALL dead players same naming policy or STFU) |

A star, system or something in Ambulation seem like a fitting way to pay tribute to her. |

Oh please, thats just bollox! As much as I'm sad about her death and have my symphaties for her "family", I still find it being naive to name a freaking VIRTUAL place after her despite her working on current virtual enviroment.
CCP should stop this madness. I bet there is also SOME people in other MMORPG's who has worked and died and never got their "own town" or whatever.
Just have tribute to her over "This ad will display only once"-schema in login screen but if you gonna start renaming systems (And thus, fracking up external programs like killboards) just for her .. then do it for every other dead EVE player to show that you care for your PLAYERS too. |

You fail because you haven't taken actual Eve events into consideration. There is/was a station named in honor of a player named Smoske. This was done by players for a player. It is, or at least was, undertaken by all players to keep this true (I'm a bit behind the times on this, but it was considered sacrosanct a few years back).
So if players can memorialize someone by naming a conquerable station after him, and continuing this tradition, is it so inconceivable that the devs would do the same with a system, for a fellow dev?
The devs are basically gods here. What they say goes. So if they want to reign chaos on us by renaming a single system out of 5000+ is that going to ruin our lives (barring Jita, and that's not such a bad thing, really)?
But, basically, Devs>players. It's their game; they can do what they want. If they want to rename anything, for any reason, they pretty much can (hey, they recently did it with the Drone regions). Should they do it just because? No. But if there's a good reason, they should. Just the same as if that Khanid guy became the new Amarr Emperor, Amarr could be renamed Khanid. What's the difficulty in that? |

I didn't know her. Which I feel vaguely sad about now.
/signed for a memorial of sorts. I'm sure CCP can find a way to do so in good taste.
There are many monuments in eve. Building one that actually means something to the real world would be a noble effort.

Have you ever heard about easter eggs? If you look trough, you will see tons of system names that are some kind of reference to devs, though they are still alive. There's even a system named after mindstar .

Imagine Jita 4-4 being named after someone as a punishment.
No, seriously I'd like the Idea. Being remembered is the only kind of immortality that we humans can achieve. So I dare to say keeping someone remembered in positive is a wonderfull thing to do. |

This guys against CCP giving a tribute to a dead coworker because he doesn't want to mess up a KILLBOARD?!?!
Go for it, CCP. Give her a star, or a planet, or find whatever system this guy lives in the most and name it after her.
And yes, there is a difference between a player and a developer. Developers often live and breath the games they work on. It's their paycheck, it's what they wake up and go to every day. It's THEIRS.
Players just pay to join in. We try to make it ours, but it never really comes close.
It seems purely anal to me for someone to think that a coworker shouldn't be paid tributes, because many clients have died, too. The one doesn't invalidate the other. Just because one is recognized, doesn't make the other any less. Are you saying that the people who lost their lives in the Revolutionary War, for instance, are somehow insignificant because George Washington has his own monument? |

Still fairly sure that no matter who it is, that ingame memorials shouldn't be built.
The one case I can recall where such an object was placed was for some ingame contest thingy, and that was a specific prize. Creating stuff in space every single time someone dies would be pointless and somewhat annoying (imagine 10 years from now, how many people will know what it means?)
An agent, I have no issues with, or even maybe a new sort of officer that spawns, or other notable personage that gets RP-handwaved in. But a station or memorial or other big honkin' thing in space? Even as a one-off (unlikely, considering that being alive has a 100% mortality rate) it's too many times.
