When someone ask for ransom, and you pay, and they blow you up, or pod you anyway. What is the best way to handle this? Other than setting standing to -10 and waiting for the day you hurt them back that is. ( should that day arrive? )
1 - Cry on forums 2 - Realise that no-one cares 3 - ???? 4 - Profit ( or not as the case may be )
Very constructive, thank you for the reminder that apathy is still the new black. Whoever said that the inet will bring the world together, should be shot.

Calling the kettle black? Stop while you are ahead. No need to derail this thread. Find one more deserving... I suggest any warlock hate threads on the wow forums.

I thought you knew? Standard procedure is to go to C&P and cry about it, right after you petition them for harassment or whatever you half baked ransom payers do.

The flipside of this is, as long as some of the guys (like those who responded on the first page) keep playing the "honest pirate", then the rest of us can all keep on ransoming and killing indiscriminately because victims will always be able to reasonably hope that their pirate is one of the "noble" ones.

I can only imagine the speed of my own death (and repayment out of my own pocket to the ransomed) if I ever popped someone after they paid. Standard procedure is to make sure they know they can't win, then negotiate. If they tell us to F*** off or any thing else along those lines, try to delay, or don't respond within a reasonable amount of time... let's just say that I've seen more than one set of implants get destroyed because of stupidity.
e-honor may sound like a fantasy, but if I were in your shoes, I'd send a message to their CEO or a director and see what they have to say. If they are willing to deal with you then you have nothing to worry about, if they aren't willing to discuss terms... name and shame (with proof, or we'll wave the BS flag).
Visit someone that will honor their ransoms next time.

IF i got podded after paying a ransom, I wud spend the next few weeks as a pirate killer and take sweet revenge on every pirate I see.
Besides, my ship cost me: 1 million ISK my insurance cost me: 1,2 million ISK and my insurance payout is 4,5 million ISK
I think you wud be doing me a favour.

But what about the fittings for said ship?
If you are using names/t2 modules, you very quickly get beyond the insurance payout.

1: Never fly what you can't afford to lose 2: Always insure your ships (When T2, that isnt that important) 3: When webbed and scrammed by Ebil Piwates, never pay ransoms.
I my opinion people should never pay ransoms. ___________________________________

Would it make sense to have some sort of feedback site on which ransomers could be rated, descriptions of transactions provided etc.? People could use it to determine whether they're likely to get out after paying, ransomers could use it to provide assurance that they will honor their ransom.
Posting would require you to have a character older than a month, and maybe some other stuff to discourage baseless slander.

Where were you for the last e-honor vs e-@$$hole thread? Think of C&P as an article readers digest. Now imagine the portion of people that actually read reader's digest, then think of the tiny portion that happen to read a particular article at a particular time when you name and shame.
The exercise should be called 'name and fail,' because it does a lot of that.
And while were on the subject of fail, OP, TT, alts ITT, and everyone who seriously responded to this pity me poast is fail. fail fail fiafulffjiohkghjuh-y5jhi96-j5m dgu0-stoppoastingthisshit!!11!1111oneeleventy
You do not expect peopel to take you seriously with that logic and pathetic attempt at l33t do you?

Originally by: Haitchi Allamut Not honouring ransoms is rarely seen as a good thing. Even most pirates frown upon it as it's considered counter-productive to the criminal community.
there ya go...
its the difference between a ganker and a pirate imo. a pirate is looking to make a living doing what he does... losing potential income from future ransoms because he podded you this time is bad bussiness.
a ganker doesnt care, he just wants to pew pew.
does make kinda curious though... was this corp you ran into a fw corp? doesnt matter if you were involved in fw or not, they can still target neutrals and ransom, but it does seem like alot of the wannabe-pirates have gone to fw to help them satisfy their need for aimless killing.
