apologies if its elsewhere, but scoured and i cant see it.
Anyway, I hear the Hurricane is great but want to know of any other recommendation for level 4 missions. to me a good number of high slots - 7 or 8 and good number of low slots and fill the mids with AB and 2 cap rechargers II and perhaps a MWD if enough room. |

tractors/salvagers in aprox 4/4 ratio...
mwd, cap rechargers/large cap bat (because they are amazing)
expanded cargo holds.
Destroyer: See above.
Geddon See above... maybe a few less cargoholds and a few more cap relays.
Typhoon: See above ^^ |

I have a salvage Harbinger that works pretty well, but the most cost effective is the Catalyst. |

no fussed about cost as my alt is a manufacture character so I can make up to BS at cost. Oh, and with your recommendations, please advices on your preferred fit out of said ship. |

Pick your favorite destroyer. Fit it according to the plan i did for the 'cane. You now have the best salvager ever. |

oh and another thing. I currently use a Catalyst for Level 3 with a 4 sal and 4 trac split and 3 CE II and Cap recharger II and AB and 3 Salvage Tackle rigs. |

Pick a destroyer, go shoot up your mission and come back in it to salvage. If you're flying in a ship with a few utility high slots fit a salvage/tractor in those and use it (cane, raven, domi) |

The tractor beam speed and range bonus makes these ships perfect for the job. 80km salvage diameter, just move in, park and salvage. |

Before getting a Maraudeur to do it I used a salvage phoon:
[Typhoon, salvage] Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
100MN MicroWarpdrive II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Salvager I Salvager I Salvager I Salvager I
Goes over 1100m/s with the mwd. can drag up to 4 wrecks. 1652m¦ cargo - 4 expanders. 3423m¦ full expanders (for missions like AE)
Works especially great on those kited missions, where all wrecks are in a lon row: approach on the furthest wreck and salvage/drag while you move along. |

For players that aren't happily cruising around in marauders, destroyers are usually the ship of choice. That said, I can definatly recomend anyone that enjoy missions to skill for marauders. I find missions a lot more enjoyable after I switched to one.

^You bookmark a wreck in each room, turn in the mission. Then the MWD works just fine, and you can salvage several missions at once.
From beginner to best: Catalyst -> Hurricane -> Kronos/Paladin.
You can stick a salvaging BS in there somewhere if you want, dunno on which side of the 'cane to put it though. The Phoon from above looks like a nice choice for that, though it I'd say it has entirely too many cap mods. Those lows are better used for other things. Don't need to permarun mwd imo. |

I know, its just that I don't spend that much time thinking about a salvage setup. :) I do like to put in more cargo-expanders. I just hate leaving loot behind. :P |

Works extremely well for me, not the fastest boat around ofcourse, but with 2578 m3 of hold usually roomy enough for an entire mission.

If you aren't fussed about costs get a vargur.
Otherwise a BC with MWD some expanded cargo holds and tractor beams/salvagers and salvage rigs. |

You'll also turn like a pig and accelerate sloooooooooowly. Oversized AB's are not a good idea.
I'm currently using a Hurricane for my salvager. 2040 hold space with 6 Expanders on it, plus I have a "huge" secure container (1500 space used in return for 1950 space available) and a "medium" secure container (325 used for 390 available) to boost it up to just a shade under 2600 actual available space. MWD + 2 Cap Recharger 2's in the mids. 5/3 config for the tractors/salvager seems to work best for me. 722 speed with the MWD, though I usually set it to 420 or so if I'm dragging wrecks and only set full speed if it's a long run between wreck clusters. Works very nicely. |

The key thing on any dedicated salvage ship are the Salvage Tackle Rigs - they really improve your efficiency. |

Edited by: Blood Bowlers on 20/08/2008 11:52:42 I use a hurricane. Whit 4 tractors/4salvagers in high 10mn ab T2 and 10mn mwd T2 pluss cap rechargers T2 in mid 6xT2 CE in low i got 2040m3 and 300mps whit the ab in deadspace when salvaging is done in active missions (like tagging along whit friends) and 800mps whit the mwd when ive done the mission meself and delivered it first... Use BM`s. Never had any problem whit cap and cargo is usually just right for AE. Usually 1950m3... If u put 3 salvage Tackle rigs inn it too, ul get more parts out of it too... Total cost about 60 mil. |

like people said before:
typhoon:
4x tractor, 4x salvager
100mn MWD 100mn AB large cap battery cap recharger
5x cargo exp II 2x istab II
2x salvage tackle I
drones for respawn
2000+ cargo, salvages faster then you can target does 1100m/s with mwd, about 350 with ab and you're done. |

if you are just going to have a single ship use a bc. using destroyers tho allows you to leave a salvage dd and an itty in each of the systems you mission in or are likely to be sent to which helps with the running back and forth thing. |

One thing that everone seems to forget is that with a tractor you can only pull wercks at 500m/s. So if you go 1000m/s the wreck won't stay within that 1500m range for you to take the stuff out (if it ever gets there). I would use the AB to keep my speed around 600m/s.
Just something to think about. |

Somewhat overkill maybe, but Heretic is awesome for salvaging - more agile than the t1 hull and waaay more room. Costs less than a battlecruiser, if you can stomach the skilling or have it done for other reasons, hehe |

Cheap, lots of slots, less likely to get targeted if you warp in to early, ugly... perfect for salvaging.

I normally go in with a destroyer first loot everything slavage everything however keep all the loot in a can behind me which im dragging with a tractor beam. Normally get from 2000 to 4000 m3 of loot so i go get a fast hauelr scoop. ________________________ I'M POOR

I run the missions in my drake, kill everything, then lauch in my salvage Cormorant "Skidmark XIII" (yes, I've had the last 12 blown up). 3 tractors and 4 salvagers on the highs, named AB in the med, and a CPU boost in the lows. Tops out at 810m/s (hence, when I jump in early, it makes a long skidmark as it pops) and can clear a lvl 4 mission in about 20 mins if you drag a jetcan behind.
