[1] Since a lot of people are currently making signatures, I thought it would be best if I posted a bit about the signature rules.
The first part of this rule means you can't post screenshots, and the second that you can't post images. This means that if you make a signature for someone else, you can't post the signature itself on the forums, post a link instead. Then there's what a signature can contain, it means that a signature has to be related to your character and EVE, if you call yourself "Freud" you can include a sig of Sigmund Freud, so it doesn't mean it has to be completely space/EVE related. But including a image of your house would be wrong. And here's the slightly complicated stuff, the size limits. The first two are easy, the signature can only be 400 pixels wide and 120 pixels high. The third can be a bit confusing, 15 kb isnt 15000 bytes, it's 15360 bytes. So you'r signature can be 15360 bytes big at the most. We discussed what we should do if it was only a few bytes more a long time ago, and decided not to allow it. Simply because first people will wan't just a few bytes more, then 100 bytes, then 300 and so on until the size limit doesn't mean anything anymore. That's why we must insist you keep it to 15360 bytes max, not one byte more. The fourth and last size limit is the complicated bit. If you multiply the width and height you'll get the signature pixel area, and this area has to be below 30000 pixels. So even though max width is 400 and max height is 120 you can't make a signature thats 400x120, since the area of that sig would be 48000 pixels. The reason for the area size limit is to allow for different shaped signatures, some signatures are a bit longer but not so high, while others are high but not so long. If there's any questions about how to apply these rules, please post and we'll try to answer. But this thread is to help sig makers out, not discuss the rule itself, such posts will be deleted. Have fun and make some nice signatures! ![]() Wrangler Assistant Community Manager EVE Online Contact Support - Contact Moderators - Report Bug - Submit News Leads - Knowledge Base Player Guide - Policies - Join ISD - Fan Submissions - DevFinder LiteÖ |

You should never break any of the forum rules. And yes, the sig limits are enforced, sooner or later we'll catch every oversized sig ![]() |

[5] Skurge Allmighty, it doesn't. Your signature is 375x110 = 41250 pixels. Allowed area is 30000 pixels. You have to change either width or height (or both) so that your image is below that area. Meanwhile I removed your image, please make sure it's the correct area before you put it in your signature. The rules doesnt actually say that you can have a signature that is 400x120, it says that max width is 400 and max height is 120. But the area limit is 30000, so you can never have a 400x120 image. The reason is simply that instead of limiting the area to, for example 300x75 we want to allow different sizes for images. And the width, height and area limits together makes sure that is possible. It's a conspiracy, we made it so our sisgs would work fine and everyone elses would be screwed up. Screenshots cant be used as a signature, but of course you can use part of a screenshot, provided it doesn't show a bug, in your signature. If you by "pretty face" means a picture of your avatar, then you can use it, if you want to use a real life picture, then no. Remember that the signature is about you and your role in EVE, nothing else. It's not supposed to show your idol in RL, or your char etc. With the new change in rules, making a signature is much more simple, so this thread will now be unstickied because there's no more use for it.
