After a normal petition, i get something that i never seen before and that worries me to such a extence i feel the public atleast should read the parts. my loss were only a shit ship this has notting to do with isk or ships, i had a question asked it and got this.
And i quote. "There are countless other possible reasons for such disconnections, such as a large battle,"
So am i right to understand that CCP does INFACT not support large fleetbattles and if so, you had five years.
Solve the problem, im not angry ;0)

You bring so many "shit ships" to a fight that it lags out and the game is unplayable?
CCP is doing what they can, but in the mean time how about you don't intentionally **** up the servers? Do your part. |

Let me explain the ship was a normal recon and not a shit ship, but if you feel that im not doing my part, after paying for multiple accounts for five years.
This was actuaaly the first time i saw ccp admitting to that in a petition.
But if you feel the need to make C-0-c.k comment understand facts. and gtfo my thread. |

Translation:
Our game is busted.
If we reimbursed everyone who lost a ship because our game is busted, our game would be even more busted.
We don't want our game to get any more busted than it is.
You aren't getting your ship back. |

I do not at all care about the ship, i just really wanted CCP to reply and just confirm what their GM said in my petition. If so we have a totally new game here gents. |

No, your thread is ridiculous.
Of course CCP wants large fleet battles. Of course there is also a limit due to hardware that they can't do anything about. They have engineers working on rewriting the entire netcode, and are looking into utilizing infiniband, but come on, get real, they already have a world ranked supercomputer running eve.
They also can't simply support or not support fleet battles. It's not black or white like you want. Sometimes 200 ships will be fine, sometimes 100 will lag horribly. You're just going to have to accept the fact that it's not crystal clear, and you won't ever get a crystal clear CCP response on the issue accordingly. |

This is old news bud. They've been denying petitions where the basis was lag or disconnection for a while now. |

Edited by: Reven Cordelle on 20/08/2008 08:31:55 I asked why objects in space don't do what they're supposed to. Spatial Rifts for instance.
They just said it was because "some pilots have only been hurled through spatial rifts".
Using that logic, we should be able to just fly past a blackhole in close proximity and be fine. Other pilots would get pulled into their base atoms, but we'll sit there fine... because its not FOR us.
*******s I says. If they're going to bullshit in the item description about how awesome something is, dont just make it a shiny asteroid. Make it an actual spatial rift.
Nevermind. I'm just skill training anyway. Havent actually flown in weeks.
Edit: How is B*llocks filtered but Bullshit isnt? EVE is for mature adults, turn off this damn filter. |

It's part of the new "cold, harsh EVE" initiative where ship reimbursement for losses due to crappy servers is denied too. ;-)

Internet issues can cause disconnects. Ergo, CCP do not support the Internet. Ergo, EVE doesn't exist. |

And then people wonder why CCP folks don't post regularly on the forums anymore. Oh gee maybe it has something to do with whatever they say getting picked apart and used as some sort of half-assed proof to someone's argument.

"There are countless other possible reasons for such disconnections, such as a large battle,"
Thats a pretty generalized comment really. It doesn't sound like an admission of 'we hate fleet battles' to me but Im not looking too far into it either.
Have you ever thought that maybe it's your connection that cant handle 200+ ships on a grid and CCP are trying to open your eyes to other possibilities?Because if it was the CCP Superkomputer that couldnt handle large scale skirmishes,no one would be able to participate in one,and it seems like a good percentage of we players manage to.Just a thought. |

Ever observed how much bandwidth is consumed with 200 people on grid? It's not much.... a guy on a 56k modem can probably get by okay.
It is not the bandwidth or the internet, its the delay between actions. Turn on a gun it starts firing 10 minutes later, etc etc.
So, to sum it up: It is NOT the internet! it is processing power. If you cannot pan around then its your computer....
What they might be referring to in their 'comment' is that if there is a really large battle they might throw everyone off the node and restart it so they can dedicate more cpus to that system - thus reducing lag. You would be disconnected in that event.

Other mmos solve that with instances (look at AoC, it's a good laugh). Do you like instances? I prefer seamless worlds, as it seems CCP prefers too.
The trade-off is EvE pushes technology to the max, but network tecnology is not capable of dealing with so much users in a same place. CCP at least tries, not like others. |

Look now ... i think ccp are doing ok, and the game are awsome. but saying that i get disconnected due to fleet battles then not admitting to that fleetbattles actually are atm unplayable doesent mix. |

300man battles work fine, there arent many games were that holds true. And ccp are continously working to improve things allowing bigger and bigger fights. Year upon year ccp invest in new technology and spend alot of cash updating servers and code to improve performance and i, for one, am looking forward to the cluster developing into a true HPC cluster with the addition of infiniband which will finally remove the limitations of the one node per system setup. |
