Since I am building this character for a support and logistics role and these threads have been closed a while...let's start a new one. I am pretty dang far away from a command ship but a BC is feasable for me in the near future. I would like to start by using this setup for mining/ice harvesting support/protection and missioning support; just interchange the gang link and what not. Advice, criticism, flames other setups, I don't care. All is welcome. Tell me what you think.
Cyclone
High: 5 x AC's (whatever I choose) 1 x Gang Link 1 x Med Shield Transporter 1 x Med Nos (maybe cloak instead)
Med: 1 x AB 1 x Shield Booster (because of bonus) 1 x Boost amp 2 x Inv Field
Lo: 1 x DC II 2 x Shield rechargers (whatever I want) 1 x Whatever I may need ATM

Would rather train it up a second bs for your gang while you go for CS that can give you a REAL bonus or logistics so you don't have to worry about tank. |

Good idea but being as impatient as I am I want instant gratification for now. I spent a LOT of time on those learning skills and am now itching to use this character for what i made her for. As far as the tank goes, I couldn't think of anything else to do with the slots. |

You can have a pretty decent active tank on the cyclone with a large booster + boost amp. You'll need a medium cap booster (800s) to sustain it, but thats not too bad given the amount of tanking it can do (unless you are in large encounters where you might prolly want to forget boosting and fit a passive buffer).
And a mwd would be good idea, you can make use of your own bonus that way if you fit a rapid deployment link.
Dont care about your dps, go with ACs and maybe HMLs, and your dronebay. You'll probably end up needing to put a fitting mod or two in the lows besides that DC II, but you arent supposed to deal damage anyway.
Its a pretty nice ship to use as cheapskate CS imho |

Command processors. Run multiple warfare links in the highs until then, say 2 or three, with a cap booster or battery if you need it. Instant, cheap. half assed command ship. |

Both great ideas. I hadn't thought about the command processors. Lilith, you had a lot of input. It seems you've gotten to actually toy around with the idea. Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone got anything like those that might work just as well without the aid of cap boosters? |

Those low slot shield recharge modules are useless on that setup. Consider PDUs instead. |

Mmm, on one hand an ab cyclone for support, on the other a (cheaper) stabber with falloff rigs... |

Edited by: Sister Amelia on 21/08/2008 00:16:49 The point is to have this as a support platform for another character. Just a back up. Edit: ...and isk not being an issue on the setup just being able to fit. |

When I had lower skill points I used a Cyclone in a similar way (as a remote rep boat), but no gang links. I can't remember exact setup but highs were something like 3 shield transfer & 2 cap transfer. Mids were your standard active tank and mwd and lows were flux coils I think to keep the transfers running.
Used it in combat combined with another corp mate with an identical setup it worked fine for what it was but was crap compared to a dedicated rep boat like the scimitar. |
