Now since I started eve, I instantly fell in love with Amarr. During my time in eve, I have heard here and there how much Amarr sucks, and on the other hand how good it is in pvp. I intend to get a Legion for PvPing, but I just heard that it's the most awful t3 cruiser of the four. The person who told me this stated that each other cruiser has a quality, but not the Legion aswell. I want to hear other opinions. Also, i would want to know if it's a good misirunner |

Armor buffer/neuting/pulse laser Legion is deadly
It might not be the best T3 for mission but it can be a damned good one if you devote to it. I knew a girl that had maxed hers out in every way possible...laser specialization skills to 5, rare +6% dmg implants (before incursions came out and CONCORD got the new implant sets) deadspace afterburner, faction repper, everything
Her and I could run missions so fast that our salvage buddies barely could figure out what system we were in after linking them the mission journal by the time we finished. I was running a machariel with meta 4 autocannons at the time and she was killing angels almost as fast if not faster then I was (and angels are a bit resistant to EM dmg) The Drake is a Lie |

It really depend on how, where and what you PVP. Here's a short list:
- it's not very fast, meaning it can't easily get away from trouble - if fitted with lasers the dps is decent but you use cap a lot, also you don't have drones - if you use the HAM fit you lack range, still no drones - if you use the drone fit you lacks dps - the covops version, compared to the other T3, lacks dps alltogether
+ it can have a very good tank
It CAN be good if flown well, backed by gang links and then it'll have massive tank with decent dps and as long as you don't get neuted you'll be fine. But generally cruiser style PVP tends to rely on agility, speed and range more than heavy tanking. So it's use is.. limited, especially for an expensive ship like a T3.
For missions it lacks range, dps and drones, so it's not ideal. It's quite good in incursions tho. Excuses are the refuge of the weak. |

When people say "Amarr owns at PVP", they mean "mid to large fleet PVP" where the good tracking and adaptability of lasers melt anything they can lock down collectively. Amarr, with few exceptions, aren't very good at solo PVP due to lack of mids for tackling and lack of speed to keep them tackled. You're gonna want to go with Minmatar or Gallente if you're more interested in solo.
As for the Legion specifically, what Gregor said is spot-on. |

I agree with the 3 gentlemen up there --^
BUT I think PVP solo amarr are good too. Im playing an amarr solo pvp since several years now and im doing pretty good with it. The style is different for sure, maybe the learning curve is a bit harder, but with some practice you can become deadly very fast. |

Hey when I said "with few exceptions", I did totally concede that there are good Amarr solo PVP ships (Arbi, Curse, Sac). Just not that many. |

My friend would like to diagree with your assessment of the Legion.
For the linky adverse... "100MN AB" Legion kills Proteus, Tengu, Vagabond, and Tempest. "Just because I seem like an idiot, doesn't mean I am one." ~Unknown |

While that's a hilarious killstreak it's obviously not very common, otherwise it wouldn't get that much attention :)
Looking into their fits a bit more: - the Prot is covops fit, so its dps is soso - tengu, only 5 launchers which equals a meh fit, especially with high kin resist on Legion - tempest... uhm yeah - scram fit Vag...
Again, much respect but fits show those guys lacked experience & knowledge. I'm going to assume it was a AB kiting fit?

Gregor Palter wrote:Instalock doesn't exist. Oh really? +2000mm scan res legion says it does even 1500 scan res is more then enough (Same as a ceptor). It is like locking a pod in less then a sec. The scan res can be pretty funny in a fleet with gang links and remote sensor boosting. Like +3000 scan res.
The game takes 2 secs to respond to a request. If you are fast enough to get a lock onto that person during the session change between the pod and the ship after the ship has been blown up even spamming warp does not save the pod from insta lock ships. Your reflexes just have to be good.

amarr ships are preffered in the larger fleet fights because of good DPS and the best armor tank, which is the preference in pvp fleets.. i small gang warfare though amarr needs too much cap, is usually slow and lasers can't do kinetic or explosive damage... t2 minmitar ships have huge resist vs amarr lasers. also most amarr ships lack midslots that in small scale pvp = EW which makes or breaks the fight...
there are some great amarr boats for smaller PVP fights
punisher, arbitrator, and for bait the maller are good ships in small pvp fleets... oh a curse will make most people cry when they fight it :D
amarr doesnt suck at pvp, they just have less ships that are good at small scale pvp. |

Server FPS is 60, so a 1 second cycle. All you'll catch are people who don't know how to warp their pod to safety or people who lagged. So again, instalock doesn't exist, you can lock FAST... sure but anything over 2k scanres has no real usage other than "look at me". You're being limited by lag, overview lag and server FPS.

Fixed. :)
Also, ignore all the posts saying "Amarr are this" and "Minmatar are that". Thats totally not relevant, since what you should be thinking is: "With this fit, this ship is...".
Sure, perhaps the majority of certain races ship are one way, but it is never those ships that are the problem, it is always the exceptions that kill you.
So learn to think in the form of exceptions. Disclaimer: I do not actually play this game, I just forum warrior. |

Part of the problem is you need to spend about 1.5 - 2 bill on fittings and implants so u can fit a medium cap booster and 1600 and get decent results , small is no good. Were as other t3 you could prob get a much cheaper decent fit , the legion (pulse laser fit) doesn't work (well) cheap and that's not taking into account slaves or lg slaves . Also not a solo ship it needs guardian support to function unless ur 100% certain its not a trap . The medium booster is important on the pulse fit so some random douche in a cane with his two nuets can't kill you. |

Armor T3s are never really solo ships IMO, neuts will ruin your day. 100mn tengus and vaga-lokis, on the other hand... |

As has been stated by others in other threads, the Legion gets a lot of hate because of the high quality of the Amarr T2 cruisers to which one might compare them on a "filling a role" basis. It's a fine ship, just pricey as Hell as are the other T3s. The Tengu is routinely held up as the end-all-be-all of T3s and while it is extremely powerful, it makes the T2 Caldari cruiser line largely irrelevant. Certainly that wasn't the original intention of the T3 cruiser line. Recruiting is OPEN Please join our public channel The Ninja Dojo for more info |
