Are there any missions which require Gneiss to complete?

Thanks.
Off-topic follow up: I've seen a buy order offering 700 ISK p/u and even 716 ISK p/u for ordinary Gneiss. Is that reasonable? Or did somebody mess up?
Is Gneiss worth that much?

Do the maths for your local market and see for yourself. Maybe someone just wants to get the ore quickly though, and wants to encourge people to sell to him with a high buy order. |

There is a level 3 where you're required to mine 47 units of Green Arenite (or something like that). The level 3 is part of a 10 part normal mission (meaning not-storyline). I think it's starts by the letter "M", so you can go search for it on the missions-info site that every carebear and their grandma has.
Green Arenite it's a mission-ore variation of the Gneiss roid. On the mission you can also find 2000 units of Gneiss that you can mine for yourself, which is quite a rare ore for the carebear newbies.
The Gneiss roid ins't around of the best of best roids, yet it's quite profitable if you find a "safe" river of it since it yelds 171 Zydrine per batch (400m3). It also contains Isogen, and a bit of Mexalon and Tritanium. |

The mission is the first part of seven, "New Frontiers". You've got to get 47 units of Green Aresite (SP?), and there is 1995 units of Gneiss to be mined nearby.
You've got to take out a bunch of mercenaries first, then mine. There is also some Omber, which is an ore needed for storyline missions, namely "Materials for War Preparation".
The omber sells for well over market price in the mission running areas. |

Yes, that's where I got the Gneiss from. The New Frontiers mission.
I've flown it at least twice before, and just mined the special Gneiss variant, but this time around I decided to try mining the ordinary Gneiss too (which was kinda sucky since my Iteron MkV was light years away, so I had to haul the ore home in a tiny Badger).

Just to be nitpicky, I think the ore is called "Green Arisite"

My asking price for Gneiss is 1,071.73 right now according to my spreadsheet of refining goodness. Not that there's anyplace I'm buying it at right now though.
First is it has a sizable Zydrine yield. Even though zyd isn't worth as much as it once was (way) back in the day, it's still one of the more valuable minerals.
Second, Gneiss (the ore) is huge - 5m3 per unit. Since ores are priced by their m3 value since that's what mining equipment is governed by (229.26 is what I'm showing for the actual value of 1m3 of Gneiss) smaller ores end up being worth less on a per-unit basis, and large ores more. ---

the only time i have come across Gneiss is in low sec after probing them out with Grav probes, which is nice as they refine into Zyd:)

I've never seen a mission that requires a low-sec/0.0 ore to complete. It's always either Veldspar, Kernite, or something else.
