Well, all time I would say Civilization, Elite 2 and Covert Action. Based on how much fun they were when they cam and not now ofc.
Atm I play mostly BF Vietnam, waiting for Battlefield 2 to come.

Well.. X2 looks good, but dunno if it will top EvE.
Otherwise, Civilization, and Colonization for that matter, owned in the 90'es. UFO/XCom did good. Have'nt seen any games as good after 2k, but in other genres, Baldur's Gate I/II, Homeworld II, CS, UT2K4 (like that capture the flag and all team ops seems to have a point beside the flag) and ofc EvE :)

I always figured you for a Luigi man, Josh! Your posts reak of it!! Seriously though, that has to be the best game ever made.
And Deadflip, you are speaking of Super Mario Kart 64. That's unholy... can't even compare to the Super Nintendo version!!

I have no favourite among games tbh, however:
Most liked:
Quake2 harrr that have been night's full of blood, organs, splatter and the agonic screaming of players that were killed. UT mo-mo-monsterkill Quake 3 especially with 64 guys in lan on one server. Starcraft zergs march on
And additional:
Command&Conquer 2 Anno1602 SimCity Civilisation 1 + 2 Wing Commander 5 Die Siedler Diablo 1 & 2 Dungeon Siege --------------------------------------

nah X2 doesnt top it, it blew part of my comp beeing in the aceleration (*10) mode, on top of that i estimate even a 3.6 ghz computer wont be able to run a fleet that overpowers the sheer number in xenon (the bad guys), allthough you can take on the whole xenon race with one ship i prefer doing it the fair way. --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. The first online game where i really got into PvP was Diablo 2..
I used to wreak havoc on HC USeast. My speciality was LLD's.This was long before dupes became widely popular and when most items didn't have level requirements.
Greatest achievement was getting the King title on my paladin.If i log in nowadays i still get people wispering stuff like;

In no particular order:
- Eve - Deus Ex - Indiana Jones 4 - Leisure Suit Larry 7 - Planetside - Total Annihilation
Eve and Planetside would most definitely be first if their thoroughly wonderful concepts (realistic simulation of an interstellar capitalistic society and realistic planetary warfare simulator) had been executed properly, but alas, it's like comparing a hackneyed caricature with a photograph. However, Eve is apparently still in heavy development and the devs seem to be committed to a faithful execution of that concept, not resting at this sketchy stage, thus I still have faith.

I played UFO - Enemy Unknown with a friend, he was behind the controls and I did the strategy. Might sound weird, but we played a lot of games like that and we really did work well together. I'm more into strategies and stuff and might miss that a game might not be as it would be in reality, he wasn't soo good at strategy and seeing the big picture, but he did understand the games better than me.

Tie Fighter (All of the games. Great sense of scale, all the ships are just so frickin cool, more than 8 turrets on a ship :) Master of Orion 2 (Still good if a little old. Very Tactical) Total Annihilation (Still best RTS, yet to be surpassed) Operation Flash Point (All the vehicles and add-ons) Star wars Jedi Knight (Every single one made all excellent!!) Wolfenstein ū Enemy Territory (Online multiplayer, excellent design, good team work aspect, + is FREE :) Call of duty (purely as atmosphere is so engrossing in 5.1) Burn Out 2 (Never had so much fun causing traffic pile ups.)
Too many to remember will kick myself later. IĘll have to dig out all my old Spectrum, Sega and Amiga games out :)

Does anyone remember.. "Warhammer 2: Dark Omen" Thats still the best RTS ever made, in my opinion.Instaid of starting out with 5 workers/peons/robots/peasants, 1 mine and 1 base (standard base-RTS system) you have a number of regiments.Once a regiment dies, its lost for the duration of the game. That game was a wayyyy ahead of its time.
Har-de-fraggin'-har-har!

Edited by: Sqalevon on 07/06/2004 06:52:21 The legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, nuf said imo :) Half-Life. singleplayer rocks ( no I'm not a CS'er, I'm more of a svencoop, NS, samvsjohn person. ) Mariokart, powerslides galore :D Viewtifull Joe, this game rocks :), but its tricky. Wario ware inc. Nothing beets that if your traveling.
Oops, almost forgot transport tycoon ( damn i've played that for some hours :) ) Same with Total Annihalation ( I believe that part 2 is in the making *cheer* ) And I forgot to mention my all time favorit fighting game : Smash Bross :)

Yay! SMK for the SNES!
IMO, Zelda 3 for the snes was, arguably, one of the best, and most well-thought out games I care to recall. God damn...So many hours spent. I still, frmo time to time, think about how many hours the Zelda cartridge for my snes represent...
My list:
1) [censored, as this isn't EVE-relate] 2) Chaos League demo. oooh...I can't wait till it hits retail! 3) Whatever finds my fancy. Truth be told, it's either 1 or 2, or I use my pc to make music.

Early PC games: UFO - Enemy Unknown & Apocalypse Master of Magic (I wonder why they don't make a follow up on this one?) C&C - Tiberium Dawn (The first of the C&C games) Doom 2 Fallout 1 & 2
More Resent Games: Hostile Waters (The best single player strategy game I've seen for years. Great story) Homeworld Cataclysm (Homeworld 1 was good, Homeworld 2 seems boring) Battlefield 1942 (mostly because of all the mods) Serious Sam (This is my type of FPS. Great co-op play) ---------------- What's a rumor on page one is a fact on page two |

My list, in no particular order:
Total Annihilation The only RTS I have become stuck with. Still play it from time to time.
Elite One of the first games I ever played.
Half Life I can still remember the days when HL came out. I just love the story (except when going to space).
Civilization Have played I, II, III and now I play Conquests. This is a game that never looses its charm.
Eve Eve is like an old friend. Have been following it since 2000 and I am very impressed with how CCP are pulling it off. Kudos to you guys!

Elite seems very popular, not very surprisingly. I played it on C=64.
Other than that: All three Civilizations. Fallout 2. Strangely enough, I never played #1.
Planescape: Torment is the best single player gaming experience for me, though. The list changes, but this one is always the first one that pops into my mind. It is a piece of art.

Hmm.. some old school titles here:
Monkey Island series Day of the Tentacle (damn good) Ground Control (awesome strategy game without any resource-handling-****) Heretic (ahh that "gothic" feeling was just my cup) Duke Nukem (squishing your pal with the freezer-thingy was pure humiliation) X-wing vs. Tie Fighter
........ There is a fine line between gate camping and just standing by a gate, looking like an idiot... |

Edited by: Darrin Tobruk on 10/06/2004 04:01:58 Hmmm, where to begin?
Civilization 1, 2, and 3
Sim City 1, 2, and 3. I never got into 4. Not enough time to waste any more.
Most of the Final Fantasy series, althought the last few have been duds and I just cancelled my FFXI account. VI (III in the US) was the absolute best.
BF1942 is my other online game besides Eve.
EDIT: I forgot Alpha Centari and it's expansion pack. I keep hoping for an Alpha Centari II since I really liked the first one. _______________________________________________ Eris Discordia: On the scale of funny and constructive it scores low, real low. |
