My two cents.
Been playing nearly a year now and in all that time I've done nothing but mission running and some mining (about 20 minutes worth actually - I couldn't take it on my own).
I'm currently working some mid-level 4 agent and I can tell you now I make nowhere near 20 million an hour. I don't have good dps however, but neither did you, so unless you were farming AE or some other high value mission I don't see how you can come to that conclusion.
I'd also agree with the "I make 10 million an hour" quote, because that's around what I make too.
Anyways, as others have said, nerfing this space and buffing that won't solve anything. Carebears will simply either drop to lvl3 (not me), join a corp, or quit.
Put as many golden asteroids in lowsec as you want, Carebears will simply not go there.
Here are some of my endeavors in lowsec.
Lowsec lvl3 mission - Navula - Ferox vs 3 Raven gank = pwned!
Not wanting to wimp out after my first loss, and risked another lowsec mission a few days later in a different system.
Drake vs another bs gank. It was over in seconds. After that, I said "no more lowsec". I flew a ship I couldn't afford to lose and I was back grinding level 2s in a cruiser.
The only time I go into lowsec now is for skill books and I always take a shuttle. Even though I've nothing to lose I still don't want to get caught out, it is a mean place. You notice the immediate hostility with scattered wrecks at the gate, blinking red nasties in your overview, some ships suspiciously prowling round a station up to no good, and then they lock you. It's scary for Carebears.
I like the idea of widening the area of lowsec though, or something to increase the survivability in lowsec. People who said that I would agree. At the moment if I have any PvP action it's always a gank, and an omg gank-so-bad-may-as-well-delete-ship-from-game. I know, it's probably my fault, and that's ok.
What's not ok is how frequently it happens. It'd be nice for once just to be ratting in lowsec and not come across an entire war fleet, and instead maybe come across one or two ships so I stand a fighting chance (yay!). If I lose it doesn't matter also, as long as it's a good fight that's all I'm after.
So until it's more 'less gank more pvp' I won't be going to lowsec anytime soon (unless I'm up at some god awful hours in the morning)
I know I could join a corp, and this is a MMORPG etc, but I like soloing at the moment. And these are my 2 cents :)
