Originally by: Sidrat Flush I'm currently in the same situation, but thankfully I've lost ships before so I was prepared for the empathic (don't know if it's the right word) migraine for the rest of the night (Jack Daniels neat helps with this) and then it's telling my sad sad tale of wow (not the game) including lag, disconnect and logging back in to see my pod warp back to the wrecks burial ground, to my corp mates.
And then a bit more whiskey and calling it a night to start fresh for work and a mini-session on eve because I work long hours over the weekend.
Personally my mind set has become (because I've lost more than a few ships) it's only stuff in a computer game. Sure I became attached to that T2 fitted Nighthawk, but I'll get another one eventually. What do I need to do to buy and fit another? Let's see what I haven't done for a while to achieve that goal and get on with it. Or I'll just spend what little time I have on the forums for a bit instead.
Is it just me or do other people endure (imaginary or otherwise) physical pain at a ship loss?
yes i actualy attempted suiside once or twice because of that and other things that just stressed and upset me over ___________________

Originally by: Azel Merceta Meaning, how do you motivate yourself when you have a massive loss in the game?
If losing the ship you are piloting feels as a "massive" setback, the quote about don't fly what you cannot afford to lose applies. "Afford" is a slippery word that has many ramifications, more connectd to your perception of the loss than to the mere money you have to pay. If you feel that the loss of a battship is a "massive" setback, by definition you shouldn't have been flying it.
Quote: So how do you handle it? I'm curious.
Except in fleet fights, if you lose a ship that means you have done some mistakes. I handle it very simply, learn from my mistakes. Before even buying a new ship I try to understand why I lost it, find out what mistakes I might have done, and fix them. _Before_ buying the ship and fitting it. Because the mistake might have also been that i chose the wrong ship for the job or I fitted it poorly.
ya but what if you cant find them mistakes and what if you did and did not know it but what if only thign you can aford to lose is a tech 1 frig or destryer with tech 1 fittings, i can build that stuff but i still gotta buy the isogen, megacyte, and zydrine since i only mine in high sec due to extreme risk in low sec space with every 1 hhating me i cannot do, so how do i like make my lost not happen when 99% of all times someone engaged me is in a fleet of 1vs3 ratio or more what am i really suppose to do? ___________________
