This is why EVE should be able to clean up it's own messes (cache). My IDE can do it, why can't a video game?

The game does have a 'clear cache' button in the options menu. Granted, it isn't automatic, but that's probably how most of us prefer it. (cache stores a lot of stuff such as character avatars, and I would rather not have to download them all over again every time the client decides to delete its cache)

Hardware prowess means nothing to software prowess. If you were more than a 'guy who knows how to assemble stuff', you'd know that, too.
Originally by: Celestial Divinity You can't deny CCP have poor history of programming sht that messes other stuff on your computer up.
By your own admission, you were asked to delete some files from your computer, after which, you blamed CCP for the computer issues afterward. Computers do NOT work that way, my friend. It is much more likely that you already had a problem before you went deleting files, which seems to be evident by the initial lockups you reported.
Even if you had only deleted the 'proper' EvE Cache files, as requested (and I'm not saying you did this step correctly) existing problems could have further damaged some of the other files on your system, causing things to continue to degrade.
In my opinion, when you have as many software issues as you seem to now, I would recommend reformatting, a clean installation of your OS, driver upgrades, and then your other application software. This way, if you run into further problems, you can look deeper into the issue. If you do not have any problems, you should be safe with a nice, clean install, and everything should run a little bit better.

Oooh, this reminds me of all those "I am an IT-professional and..." posts from back in the day.
Clearly it was user error, and the boot.ini wont cover it up.

You deleted your entire settings folder, not just the one for EVE.
