No.
Leave it a single platform. The minute you mix things up like this the minute it will expand with the speed of frozen pitch.
PC got the Elite Quality BF3. Let PS3 have the best Dust can give them. PC would also have the competing Planetside 2 to compete with which would be bad for Dust and Planetside.
The only thing I worry about is future PS4 transition. It would give Dust the power to expand a lot from what would be limiting for it now. If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

I don't see how having the game on multiple platforms would harm it. Wouldn't it just allow more people to play the game? |

Not going to happen, Sony paid a hell of a lot for an exclusivity agreement for the Playstation. CCP would be breaking a contract if they released it on PC. Not going to happen.

If you want the game to last more than 1 year that is going to build and adapt like Dust and EVE does, you have to focus on your platform. Hell Dust may progress faster on the PS3 and hopefully PS4 than EVE due to the hardware system itself. (Look how just the Launcher Rollout looked on the forums for some people).
Also the gameplay mechanics for a Consol FPS and a PC FPS will never be the same with the whole Gamepad/Mouse+KB debate. That is why you will never see a true PC vs Console FPS game since the PC users with no assist whatsoever, would absolutly clean the map vs Console players with the same settings.
Best to leave it with the system they have planned.
If you wanna play Dust, pick up a PS3, Plug it into your Monitor, and have it right there when you want to switch over. If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

The launcher roll out is CCP fault...
World of tanks in BETA I never had a launch issue I also did not see really any posts on the beta forums about launcher problems.
The world of war planes alpha won't start if world of tanks is open that is the only launcher issue I have seen.
WoT patches faster than eve, TBH I have no idea what ccp is doing with hashing and ****. WoT issued a huge file system update, replacing game files with a new mod folder, and blah blah... took less time to get a 800mb patch, rework the games file system, delete files, move, replace... and load up than it took CCP to get me a 15mb patch with the launcher.
The links on the launcher work
etc etc...
It is CCP not the platform. |

But PS3 is the wrong console, Dust will die four months after release if it stays on the PS3. Possibly less, depends when the next Call of Reskin is released. For Dust to work, you need a long term player base, and long term player bases only truly exist on the PC. Multiple platform games are perfect examples - the console playerbase dies quickly, while there is a strong PC following for good games a decade after release. |

I have a feeling that Dust will launch on the PS3 stay exclusive for a year maybe a year and a half then possibly see a port to the PC. Leaving it on one platform will seriously limit the player base.

You do realize the reason the Multiple Platform games die on the console quickly is because they are built with content to only tide players over till the next release and there really is nothing to work for past 6months for the do nothing else player.
Also the reason the PS3 is a good platform, is the ease CCP can have with adding new content and patching. While XBOX would be a arguably bigger market, even Valve has issues getting new content and patches out to it hence why Portal 2 was more geared to PS3/PC over Xbox.
A PC Dust would be great no argument there, but it is way to late and way too much invested to try and create it now. Let CCP make it for the console, and see what happens. I feel this is the best way they could go about it without having to butcher their dec/player base with 2 PC titles.
At the rate it looks now. Xbox has Halo, PC has Battlefield 3 (and well other exclusives) and PS3 will have DUST.
Also the launcher patches fantastic on my system so I cannot comment on how slow it not working it is since it has worked 100% on all of my systems. :/ If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

The agreement is for 9 months afaik with SOE. I expect after that we might see a PC version. However my fear is it wont work well on PC. As shooters that are designed for consoles end up with bad control interface on PC. Also console players are typically much better at shooters than PC players.
However I am terrible at shooters like so bad at them. When I join a squad with other PL members in BF3 they mysteriously decide to logoff. Yeah im that guy the 0/15 guy |

That is the funniest thing I have heard today...
The PC was where FPS was born, and it is where the most skill is needed but also shown.
Make a PC game Directly ported to a Console (same exact level of precision required) and then put the best from both platforms against each other, the PC player will destroy the Console player.
Now swapping platforms (like a PC player going to a console or visa versa) will make it seem like trying to play with claws for a good bit. (personally at least) If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

Its presents the possibilitythat long time EVE players will defect and un sub, ergo costing CCP money in lost subs. Keep it PS3 and they dont risk it. Simples.

You all seem to be forgetting that Dust was originally developed as a mulitplatform game on the Unreal 3 Engine. I'd imagine that CCP actually has currently working PC builds in the office, if not quite up to date.
As it's using the UE3 engine, it's also rather easy to port from one platform to another, plus the biggest parts of a current game are the art assets, which are definitely transferrable.
Once the SOE deal runs out (and after the game tanks, as I think it will), we should see it roll onto the PC in short order.
Infact, I wouldn't be entirely suprised if CCP switch focus to the PC port shortly after the PS3 version ships.
*Note, this is all speculation and isn't born out of fanboi-ism. I couldn't really care about Dust, from what I've seen, it's not my cup of tea. |

I am not saying that it is not possible at any rate.. I just know that it would be a bad idea. Now or later the complex level of the game, the linking between it and eve, and the overall development would just be a nightmare to balance between all 3 (since it would be a huge task to balance the gameplay for PC AND Console and then link both to EVE on the PC.) It could technically all be done, but why when you could just make 1 platform really good.
Please look at the big picture and realize that making it for the PC or any other platform, now or later, would be a horrible idea. If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

It would be foolish in so many ways to bring this gam to PC. it would go against the whole purpose of bringing the two platforms together as they have been.
It is funny to see people cry though and wish for it to come to the PC. It will be fun to stomp them in DUST 514. |

What do you think players on a PC with a keyboard and a gaming mouse will do to a player on a PS3, sitting on the couch with a controller? The console / PC crossover has allegedly been tried before and, as the legend goes, failed miserably.
Do you really think that will be good for the game?
Yes, I know. You can get a keyboard and a mouse for the PS3. It is foolish to assume all players will. |
