Currently, two 5m3 drones deal more damage than 1 10m3 drone, and 2 10m3 drones and 1 5m3 drone deals more damage than a 25m3 drone. I'm thinking this should be reversed, to encourage players to put more planning into their drone setups, and to result in overall fewer drones being used. This way, players would prefer larger drones for the best damage, but could choose to use smaller drones to get better tracking for swift targets. This also makes players have to consider what drone size is best for them, rather than it always being a clear and obvious choice.
If this change were to take effect, the small drones should stay at their current damage, while medium and large drones would have their damage increased. Drone bays of many ships would have to be shrunk to keep their optimal DPS similar to what it is now. Drakes would have 20m3 drone space instead of 25m3, so they would launch 2 medium drones for the best damage. This way, drake blobs will tend to have 2 drones per drake, rather than 5. That will dramatically reduce the number of drones on the field in these huge encounters. Vexors and Myrmidons may have their drone bandwidth shrunk to 50mbps, and they would launch 2 large drones for best dps. Their total drone bay size may be kept the same, however, since they are more likely to be swapping drones for different targets in some situations.

drake launches 5 drones against a frig, that frig will have to kill the 5 drones in pvp to have a chance usually.
if its only 2 then its 2 drones, less targets to lock, keep track of, ect.
drones are fine, iirc its missiles that do the most power |

It's not like the drake can't carry small drones instead. Plus one of the big issues with drones is that it makes it too easy for larger ships to attack smaller ships, which makes small ships less useful and they have to be given silly buffs just to make them viable. Webs are OP too.
And drones are NOT fine. Who ever told you that should quit playing EVE and go back to WoW.

yeah as if I would ever fit medium drones on my drake
The most important factor that I take into consideration is the speed of the drones itself and the ability to apply its dps. like if you are being pointed by a ceptor that medium or heavy drone is never gonna catch up with you. However that light drone will catch up to you and will even be able to hit you. |

Domis used to be able to field 10 drones. It was awesome. Then CCP stole five of them and not it's no longer awesome.
That's my brother's opinion. I'm Caldari and I hate the buggers. Always leaving them behind.

Another option would be to reduce the number of high slots on drone boats, instead of shrinking their drone bandwidth. A third option would be to reduce the damage of small drones and increase the drone bays of small ships.
