(This problem is a bit difficult to describe because there seems to be no pattern to it, except that it only effects Eve)
At some point in the past week, something broke, and Eve freezes often when I'm trying to play. There doesn't seem to be much pattern as to when it happens. I can be in combat (I just lost a zealot thanks to it), spinning in station, warping around, ratting, pretty much anything.
The only real pattern is that it comes up whenever I'm trying to do something important. If what I'm doing doesn't really matter, it never bothers me.
What'll happen is, Eve will lock up, the mouse cursor won't even move, if I have TS open that stops too. Sometimes (less frequently as of the past day or two) it'll recover, but the graphics will have glitched up in strange ways. Alt-tabbing fixes that.
Usually during the freeze, every minute or so, stuff will happen again for about 0.5-1 seconds, and I get a small snip of TS chatter. Usually there's only enough time for the mouse cursor to change places.
After a while, if it doesn't recover, my graphics driver crashes, or the computer just reboots.
At this point I can't seem to play 10 minutes without it freezing, except..
The strangest part is that so far, it's only effected my main. I mined for 6 hours on my alt yesterday, with absolutely no trouble. It also doesn't happen if I have Eve up, but a different window open. This, added with the fact that eve stays logged in and everything that was running continues to run, leads me to believe that something is wrong with my graphics card, though I have no clue what.
Overheating would seem like the most likely culprit, but I put another fan next to my card and it hasn't changed a thing.
System specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200 (2.2 GHz) RAM: 1GB DDR Video card: nVidia EVGA GeForce 7600GS (card has been used for 3 months) Some kind of IDE hard drive
If there's any other specs you need to know, just ask.
