This whole time, since release, CCP have been trying to improve and balance PvP. I have no idea how many different modules there are for PvP, and i wouldn't want to count even if i was paid to do it. Why is mining so vanilla? There are mining lasers and ore scanners. WHEEEE. Lots of potential setups here. The fact is that for me, there is no incentive to hunt for miners, because most of them are insured, and have setups on that go for roughly 200k if I'm lucky to get a full set of miner 2s dropped. The only valuable thing that miners have is harvies, and tbh nobody in their right mind will use harvies in .4 or less. Imho there should be lots of cool, expensive modules for ALL proffessions, so people can spend their money on them - and me, i could get rich from selling them.

Yay! And pirates with -10 should be forced to go through Yulai in their uber-of-the-top bs, so their cans would drop modules to make the scavengers rich ;P

Miners still loose much ISK when they loose their ships. Many ppl pay 10-20mil to save their ship and the modules. Why balance it? PvP is totaly diffrent to mining and I can¦t see a way to balance it. Do u? ---------------------------------------------

It was so much better back before miner 2 were so cheap. The named loot and miner 2's were reserverd for only the avid miners. And you could make tons off looting them. Tech 2 is going to kill the prices on pretty much everything. Just wait till the tech 2 xl boosters come out then the xl-c5l will be dirt cheap compared to what it is now. 0verkill Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean we aren't out to get you.

I'm all for having more mods to use in mining.
Compared to combat setups, miners have little to choose from. ________________________________________________ From deep in space where nobody hears my screams... Sometimes in fear, sometimes in anger, mostly just my singing style. |

Actually, i have a -5.0 sec. status, so i can be shot anywhere. I have a partial set of seige malkuths, and an Xl-C5l on my raven atm.(im poor).
Leet mods aren't necessairy, they are a luxury. When i don't have money i fly around with stock stuff. You don't HAVE to have leet mods to PvP. You wouldn't HAVE to have leet miner lasers, mining "damage mods", or whatever to mine. Its all a luxury for those willing to invest in the mods. Thats all i'm asking for - give more carebear luxury mods.
P.S Hellspawn, in a looong time of pirating i've been payed about 30 mil ransom total. And i've killed, or witnessed kills of hundreds of battleships.

Edited by: dabster on 07/06/2004 15:50:58 Edited by: dabster on 07/06/2004 15:50:06 There was an interesting discussion on eve-i regarding this.. It would be so simple to make more fun and options for miners. Short example: load crystals to lasers that extract differently from different ores..different ranges...named ones...weee a whole new item that can be modified loads. ___________________________ Chicks dig Brutor's |

You have no idea how inaccurate that statement is
Anyway, more rare mods and expensive stuff for miners please the gentle people in the universe, and makes blowing them up more profitable for pirates or pk-ers (so they wont have to blow up that many ).

A recent survey I lead into CA space indicates that CA apocs at safespots always have 9 harvies with them (and it's 0.0 space). That also means: if u lost an apoc in CA space recently, stop petitionning CCP

Edited by: SlightlyMad on 07/06/2004 16:32:04 Edited by: SlightlyMad on 07/06/2004 16:31:17 YES More mining stuff!!!1
*Mobile Ore Attractor* -Deployable object in space to SUCK the roids to your mining spot!!11!!1one
No more moving around in yer phat uberslow miningvessel. Just park it. Fire up them lasers and and shoot a everthing that comes your way! Kinda like metroid back in da 80's or wtf that game was called
*Auto Hostile Ore Targetter* -Automaticly targets all hostile roids within your firing range!!11!
Together with teh mobile ore attractor this lill' puppie gonna make your mining sweet and easy.
*Mining missiles* -Target teh roid and fire away!
Ohh man... this is da bomb. A total breakthrough in teh mining business. IMAGINE! Roid 40km away? NO problem. Just target the f.cker and UNLOAD HELL ON HIM! I think its unblanced that not all reaces are equally good miners. Caldari has too few turretslots! Mining missiles gonna change that
*Mining missileskills* -You gonna need'em for above.
More missileskills are cumming with Shiva. Time to introduce miningmissiles! Very cool stuff. And instead of the "mmmmmmwwwwwwwwwrrrrrr....mmmmmwwwwwwwwrrrrr" you get like "Swooooooooooooosh... BAAAAAMMMM!!11!!!1 - PWNAGE!!1!1". And then teh space gets full o' dust and roidpieces to pick up!!!11!!!
*RoidScout Elite Frigates* -Capable of finding really aluring roids hiding at safe spots in hidden belts!1!!eleven
PvPers get all teh fun! Balance mining more. Would be supercool and more fun if some miners could specialis in roidscoutships!
*Roid TRACTORBEAM* -Why bother mining? Just drag teh f.cker back to base!11!!!1
Totally cool! For 0.0 mining. Warp in! Shoot da NPC. Grab teh roids then warp out!! Action mining. fun fun fun!!
*Crystals for laser* -Mentioned above. GREAT idea.
Diff range and effectivness. More colors then yellow when you fire. Could have diff sounds too!!1! Instead of "YELLOW:mmmmmmmwwwwwwrrrrr....". You go "REALLYREALLY-BLUE:fffzzzzzprrrrrrrr..." or "JIMIHENDRIX-PURPLE:hhhhaaaaaaaayyyyyzzzz..."
Thats just sum o' teh stuff I've been thinkin' about. I got more ideas of course
KTHXBYE * -"You know, we play the "good guys" right? We kill pirates, griefers, retards and general subversive elements in the EVE-Community. To the rest, we are friendly and always prepared to help out. Peo |

Its all a matter of timing.
Remember when miner II's went for five mil each? The people that made them sold a lot of them too (waiting lists as long as 1 month). Of course they are cheaper now because so many of them are being made now.
When the next great mining laser comes out, it will be expensive and the cycle will continue.
I don't think the point that pvp'ers have too much to lose is true either. Aside from the guns (large ones cost about 1 mil) the mods are dirt cheap. |

for those who didn't get it yet: Negotiatior has a point here.
first the setups thing, for pvp you can have a LOT of setups(yes, some are more effective than many others) yet for mining you've only got to wear your favorite mining laser1\2\named, why not, for example, have special "containment" mods to put in low\medium slots so that only they could, for example, hold rare ore?
why not have the miners invest a little bit more?
from the skills perspective, there are lots of both mining and pvp skills, balanced here. but modules are 2 to 1000, or so... and i'm not talking about implementing the "mining rockets" cluelessly spewed above by some frustrated newb, i'm simply talking about variety that just isn't there for miners, or those who get their loot.
