Well, i read the thread on salvagers that was buried some pages back. Apparently it wasnt updated since Revlations 1.4. I was wondering.
Does the level of skill in salvaging determine the QUALITY of salvage as well as the CHANCE? Such as getting more % in armor plates or in-tact consoles?
Also, if so, do rigs increase said chance as well? Or does it rely only on skill?

Nothing in game will modify what you receive when you successfully salvage.
The skill and any rigs/implants that affect salvaging only increase your chance for successfully salvaging. ---

Its just the chance to get salvage. Still worth getting a rigg, since you'll only have a 25% chance of getting salvage with maxed out skill.

I know that this is true, but it's wierd. It seems to me that I get a better yield when I use my rigged salvager as opposed to my unrigged. While I know that technically all the rigs do is up the Chance of sucess (Access Difficulty), it seems like I get better yeild...
It makes me wonder if the yield is better the sooner you get a success. So while rigs and skill won't technically make the yield better weknow they at least speed up the process. <shrug> ôSalvage is as much an art as building the ship itself. We take rubble and make rigs, now that takes Talent.ö |

Exactly what i was wondering, if anyone sees an increase in yeild... Maybe superstition? How do we know that it doesnt affect yield? Does it say somewhere?

nothing affects yield, and yes it say it increases the chance of successfull salvage. Try salvaging with lvl 1 and with lvl 5. you will notice you need less cycles for salv***ing but yield will stay the same ___________________________________

Correct.
Originally by: Horchan The skill and any rigs/implants that affect salvaging only increase your chance for successfully salvaging on that particular salvage cycle.
Fixed.
A 'salvage cycle' is the time from which you engage your salvager on a wreck, to the time that it checks the wreck again for salvage. If you have poor skills, no rigs, and no implants (yes, they're available) then it may take more time to successfully salvage from a wreck, if there is anything inside it to begin with.
The contents of a wreck are determined at the time the wreck is created, and no amount of training, rigs, nor implants are going to increase the yeild within.
